2015 Kuga failed engine block test

Hi all.

hoping for some guidance on this. My mother in law has a 2.0ltre Diesel 2015 Kuga. 
 

only done around 80k miles. 
 

they have been having engine problems and ford have confirmed it needs a new engine. 
 

they may be looking to just get rid. Any ideas what the best way to get most of their money back on the car would be?

 

i.e seller the car in its current condition. 
 

any help would be really appreciated.
