jeebowhite
Absolutely, though even cheap Chinese can work and can give you basic troubleshooting capabilities, more than you may have otherwise. frund
This may be the wrong place to ask, perhaps I should enter a new post but do we discuss ECU remapping via OBD. I realise you need bits of kit also prog for laptop and a knowledge of what improvements to make and when not to 'improve'. Is this subjuct the the domain of tuning Shops and specialists. I saw this item on the bay. SMPS MPPS OBD2 ECU Flasher Remapper EDC16 Metal Box Chip V13 For BMW Audi Ford Mod move if necessary.
jeebowhite
there are kits which claim to allow you to remap, but I personally wouldn't, its not like a "go faster" switch, as you say there is a lot to it. I dont believe any current members have remapped their cars with such a kit, you are more than welcome to start a heard but I wouldnt expect many replies, beyond taking it to a specialist. frund
Yes probably best left to the chaps who do this sort of stuff daily. Could end up with a large problem.
jeebowhite
Just watching "Supercar Megabuild". They just used Torque to diagnose a Throttle Position Sensor fault on a G Wagon for a build. Free software for the win!
chemfusion
Came across this document showing what OBD protocols various Ford models use, it might me useful to some http://www.runtek.it/FORD%20_OBD.pdf
jeebowhite
most adapters are capable of running across most if not all of these protocols anyway :D

marc empson
Hi ya i Need my mot done but iv got a problem i noticed yesterday. my left hand side lights front and back are not working. I have changed bulbs and checked fuses but still nothing was wondering if this is something you guys would be able to give any advice on?
Jonro2009
Have you looked in both fuse boxes Marc? Ford wire their cars in halves apparently rather than front and back. It could also be a dodgy earth on a bulb that 'looks' ok. Try swapping all the easily accessible bulbs from the rhs to the left. If It works then swap each bulb back separately, when you insert a bulb that's developed a faulty earth the lights will stop working and there is your answer. elson_cj
Hi, New poster, hoping all you can help a very distressed ford owner!! The EM light has come on and I have a reader which gives me a couple of codes. One was the coil pack which has since been replaced and has prevented an issue I saw before where the car would Rev by itself.. However, I am getting the following codes:P0130P0150U0001P2298P0158All relate to the Oxygen Sensors(s). I had a lambda sensor replaced in November. But looking especially at P0158 it sounds like the Cat converter has failed.... Any ideas.. Hopefully it'll work but I have attached 5 photos confirming all codes. AlexMack86
Hello folks, Can anyone tell me if these can be used to diagnose reason behind non-functional lamps?... I'm banging my head against a brick wall on this one. Bit of background info: Both side lamps not working - timing of fault unkown New bulbs installed - no fix Checked fuses 124 & 125 - continuity good Power cycled battery (disconnect neg pol, leave 15 mins) - no fix Any ideas as to what else it could be? I've heard iterations of a faulty switch, and to test if there is 12VDC at the light fitting. Still to try the latter Any help huuuugely appreciated. I'm sure it's something I can resolve without spending £££s at a garage. Cheers, Alex
Jonro2009
What is the model of car? Have you checked continuity within the fuses with a multimeter or the naked eye? Do the tail lights illuminate when the switch is on 'side lights'? When you turn on dipped beam do the side lights also illuminate? Are you using incandescent bulbs are LED? The polarity may not be right if it's the latter.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Quinncey
Hi there, New to the site, I just purchased a 2006 focus 1.6 TDCI. it was running fine when I bought it but now it is very sore on diesel, (70 miles to quarter tank) yesterday it put a red warning light on the dash a cog with ! mark inside. I got a friend to scan and have attached the report. It seems to have quite a few faults. Can someone on here help shed some light on this for me as I am not sure. are they big/costly fixes? Thanks in advance Killian Focus 1.6 TDCI.pdf

czcina
Hi. I found three codes: C184_00 ; C074_88 and C257_00. They are showing up only when I go into "test" mode ( press and hold OK on steering wheel and ignition on ) and scroll down in the menu under DTC Codes. Nothing comes up when using OBDII reader?! Can't find those codes anywhere as most of them start with "P" not "C" like in my case :( Any idea what it could be? I do have a problem now with my radio that switch itself off and on at random... Ford Focus MK3, 2013, diesel. Thank you

W shave tried replacing the switch and also the latch with no luck, we have tested fuses but can not find a fault, please help as we really need a boot.
