You can clean up the lens with tooth paste but I'm still not sure what you mean it looked weird

  • No worries! At least you don't have to worry about legality! :D

  • I can vouch for Osram night breakers being a high quality brighter bulb. Had a said in my old MK1 for a while. The only thing you do find with brighter bulbs is that sometimes they don't last as long

  • Hoping this will help. I bought a pair of genuine HID Xenon headlights from a scrapped Focus ST for my MK2.5. The headlight connector is the same but if your car was not factory fitted with HID headla

One looks cleaner and newer then the other. You must have seen it one someone car. Where one headlight is diffrent to the other.

Yeah yeah that's just the plastic fading from being exposed. You can clean it to look like brand new using tissues and toothpaste, the toothpaste act as a very fine wet sand paper

I tried it on a 2000 polo. Headlights turned yellow. It's was like driving without headlights at night. I tried apricot, some fruit I think it was. Tried toothpaste, some turtle thing, nothing really work so I just brought some newer ones for cheap off eBay

My opinion is, forget to toothpaste etc cleaning solution, 800 wet sandpaper -->2000--->4000 and that's it.

Then use polish to clean it up. But just never worked. I think it's was just to late for them. Scratches was just to deep to fix.

to pass an mot as of 2013 you need the auto levelling and the washers given its almost impossible to get the levelling fitted and when possible the price way out weighs the mod so ide forget about it since its now illegal to have it without both these systems and at an mot its an automatic fail meaning its now illegal on the road if you have it fitted easy for the cops to test now so youre then driving without valid insurance HID headlights can cause dazzle if they are dirty or aimed too high, so

they are generally (if light output exceeds 2000 lumens) fitted in

conjunction with headlamp cleaning and levelling systems. Where HID or

LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted the tester will switch on the

headlamps and check the operation of any headlamp levelling and cleaning

devices fitted.

The car will fail if a headlamp levelling or cleaning device is inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.

I have been told that this is only applicable if the car came out of the factory with xenon lights an hid kit will pass if you can get it to produce the correct beam pattern and doesn't exceed the legal colour temperature (6000k I think) and the car has halogen lights as standard. As I have said this is what I have been told and don't know if this is correct or not

Tested my headlights @ evening. Those looks like they are candle lights, very poor luminanses, my halogen are much better ( Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited +90% bulbs)

Ignore what you've heard, no washers, no auto level is illegal, no exception. Without going into a long story, after market xenon must meet the same standard as factory xenon

Today i take off xenons, it's quite disapointment, compare my ex-cars aftermarket lamps and HID kit. Weard fault become friday Instrument Cluster said: Engine Malfunction, and feels like engine running on 3 cylinders, turn off wait a moment start again and engine works fine (1.8 TDCI)

Remember without levelling it will be really low not producing a lot of light

Did you check for fault codes? I'm wondering if it's the loom

Sent from my GT-N7105 using Ford OC mobile app

That true what Looney said. They go all the way down. You can manually make them go up, but since you have the sensors put them on and you should be sorted. Any off u replaced dash loom?

Not I have not done mine yet even though I got it I need to find a suitable time it's been raining every weekend

My loom is still on delivery, so not yet changed, Fault code said cylinder 1 jet, put i'd zeroed them and not yet came back, just waiting for next time.

Loads of diffent companies do kits. 3m headlight restore looks the best.

Today i get loom, few wire are different compare to car original, i think i just take xenon module wiring and reattach it to car loom.

Which ones are different?

Which ones are different?

In connector C111 are few cables different on my car. Pins 29-33 are, not same as HID version. But I haven't check yet similaries on schem. Maybe tomorrow.

Is the grey/black cable in the Same place?

I got a loom from a focus rs which was the same in my car but without the hid wiring.

Is the grey/black cable in the Same place?

can you say more specific, which pins?

In My car 14401 is 8M- something and ST loom was 6M- something

Edited by Megado

I'm not sure which pin. But it's there is only 1 grey/black if that wire moves from you original loom you will have starting issues.

OK, but loom bought, is not support Aux-heater which i have, so I just have to make rewiring HID part. If I cahnge hole loom, Fuel Fired Heater won't work. Shame for i don't get here original loom for TDCI with HID.
