Spot The Poor Vauxhall!

Anyone seen the latest Facebook update about the Zafira?

I have :D

Ha ha!! I've just went onto Vauxhall's Facebook page (not being a Facebook member I haven't seen it before) and am killing myself laughing at all the angry comments on their posts.

They really aren't going to be able to forget this in a hurry.

I'm just waiting for a parody advert to be released of the Peugeot 405 ad featuring a Zafira instead.

Just cropped up on a local Facebook page...

Isn't it humiliating enough to be driving a Corsa without putting a decal on the bonnet!?

Also, I think they might have a slight ball joint issue

That's a really cool advert and car!

There's someone round where I used to live that has a mid 90s Astra with a big "Astra" sticker on the rear screen. Coincidentally, he also had a similar ball joint issue to this Corsa (on the same corner as well) about 100 yards away from his house!

That wheel is trying to make a bid for freedom - to escape from being attached to a Corsa it's only desire

I have to admit it was a fantastic advert and the 405 was a very good car, when it worked.

Ha!!

Shame the owners don't feel that urge.

More proof of the poor build quality of Vauxhalls - he was carefully parking next to that wall, got a bit too close and the wheel fell off :P

My dad had one ages ago as a company car, it was a diesel without a turbo and as you can imagine it took a while to get anywhere.

Did the 405 suffer with a silly eye-wateringly priced alternator that it's sibling/replacement 406 had?

Where you had to replace the whole thing, when the diode pack; which wasn't a separable diode pack, like every other car had, packed up. :( On which Peugeot didn't do exchanges!??

I wouldn't know, I was about 10 at the time haha. I probably didn't know what was the difference between petrol and diesel was, let alone what a diode pack is.

The 406 wasn't a bad car apart from that diode pack failure/disaster, that cost me £1050.63 to replace.:censored: It would cost a lot more, if I hadn't fitted it myself LOL.

We had the 1.6 petrol (can't really remember that) and the 1.9 Turbo Diesel. The latter was quite good, at higher revs once the turbo kicked in. Without a turbo I can imagine it must have been chronic.

Any old diesel without a turbo is like hell on earth... Been in far too many hire vans/trucks with no turbos. Least modern day diesels are turbo'd or built in a manner that represents a turbo.. (Nissan qashqai I had as a hire vehicle was a diesel, I don't believe that had a turbo, but worked well..)

At least I think it didn't have a turbo. I think it had "common rail injection" which supposedly meant it didn't need a turbo, but that didn't stop my dad from complaining about how slow it was.

I think it comes to something, when the wheel tries to escape the car its attached to!!!

Been reading up on the vauxhall shenanigans, and I find two points interesting...

1) they have acknowledged the fault is their staff not correctly installing the part in the first place

2) on their educational video, they have specified this act is only to be carried out by an approved vauxhall technician.

These guys are the idiots who started setting the cars on fire in the first place?!? what makes them think people are going to really want to take their car back and "trust" the dealer might have gotten it right this time!!!

^ What makes me laugh is that there is such a thing as an "approved vauxhall technician" :P

You do realise that to be an approved vauxhall technician, all you need is a hatred for the cars, and a will to set them on fire without facing arson charges...

That would be an NA engine then, as the TD was an InDirect Injection.

Yeah then it was the D-Turbo I think.

I wonder if approved Vauxhall technicians, met at an HM Approved School, having been detained at HM's pleasure for arson and damaging cars.
