All I can say is Spectacular performance to the death,

Argos have good deals on mowers; I was looking at them a few weeks ago when my Honda back fired and emitted white smoke, but thankfully mine was just a spark plug.

I'm hoping it'll be fine with another spacer but won't know until next Weds now...  If not, we will indeed have to replace it.

Well, after all yesterday's worry about thunderstorms, my Mrs actually missed it! She'd popped into town to meet a friend and they only saw a few raindrops. Meanwhile back at home it was a monsoon, river of water running down the road and car very effectively jet-washed so rid of the Saharan dust for now!😀

I spoke too soon - further big storm this afternoon while the Mrs was in. So she was upset by the thunder and lightning and I'm annoyed because my car is now covered with blossom that blew off next door's tree!😡

Currently sat in the dentists waiting for the shakes to stop before driving home after a wisdom tooth extraction.

I'm so having the afternoon off and a beer later!

You sound like like me. When I was younger I was very dentaphobic that I'd keep gagging whenever the dentist puts their tools in my mouth because of the stress. Now thankfully I'm getting confidence but it because I left it so long because of my fear I still need to get braces to correct my teeth. Think I'll be a lot more happier in life and less paranoid. There's been times where I thought I heard someone comment about me.

😱 You have my sympathy!

Had a bad experience recently with massive pain and face swollen up like the elephant man. Dentist diagnosed a root infection and gave me some antibiotics to calm things down,  along with daily saline mouthwash, then recommended various treatment options (all horrible!) costing up to £2,500. I said why don't we just wait and see if the antibiotics alone do the job? - which he didn't seem to like.

2 months later I'm still fine - I'm convinced I've been paying for his skiing holidays the last few years😡

Enjoy that beer!

Are you allowed to drive yourself after that? 😮

I've made an appointment for a dental checkup in a few weeks time myself...  Haven't been for about 7 years as I'm absolutely terrified of dentists or anything to do with bodies/medicals but I'm also terrified about the consequences of not going!!   It's a specific one for very nervous patients so I'm hoping that might help...but probably not.  The waiting list is so long that I've been stressing about it for weeks now...  I don't even know if I'll be able to get there let alone allow someone to poke around inside me (I'm agoraphobic which makes getting out difficult, autistic which makes dealing with people difficult, especially in an overwhelming environment, and have severe contamination OCD which makes getting anything into my mouth difficult!).  But even if I can get through the checkup I wouldn't be able to cope with any work done...  I guess I'm kind of hoping that there might be some non-painful preventative maintenance that can be done if I go sooner rather than later...a bit of varnish over a chip or even a filling (before it's bad enough  to need drilling!) but I really don't know.

One of the biggest tooth issues I worry about does is a very minor movement in them after eating...only for a few minutes and then it goes, it's different ones at different times, and sometimes it seems to be every day for weeks and others I don't notice it at all.  I've searched all over the internet and only found one or two threads relating to this issue on the whole internet...and it seems to be because of anxiety...as is every other health issue apparently!

But more recently I've also felt a 'sharp' feeling between two near the front...but again only immediately after eating, within a few minutes it disappears!  There is also a bit of sensitivity in one of those, but only occasionally after eating something sweet (fruit usually), it's not affected by hot or cold, and it's not even painful, I can just 'feel' it if that makes sense...  10 years ago I also had a feeling in that same tooth...during a History GCSE, which I failed because of stressing about the tooth...when it was checked there was apparently nothing wrong with it.  And it's been intermittent ever since...

I'm also worried about what they'll say about the wisdom teeth though...I haven't been since the wisdom teeth started coming through...but there are issues with both lower ones.  One got stuck half way, and the other hasn't even broken through, though I can feel it just underneath.  I really couldn't cope with having to have them taken out.  I'd rather put up with the jaw ache for now, but I'm also very aware that they could push so hard on the others it'll cause problems with those.  Honestly just hoping I get hit by a bus or something before this appointment...

Back home now, wondering how long before the anaesthetic wears off...

Yes it was a local anaesthetic so driving was fine (once I was feeling better).

I'm not good with things in my mouth or needles (or pain) so I was quite apprehensive. I nearly passed out after the injections but my dentist is very nice - she gave me time to recover before performing the extraction. At least that was fairly straightforward (unpleasant but at least quick). It took me a good 20 minutes afterwards to feel like I was safe to drive.

By the way, you come across very well online - you wouldn't know you had any of those from your contributions on FOC

Thanks.  I can read and write no problem so forums are ideal for me!  It's speaking and listening where I really struggle...I often just come across as thick or rude in person which isn't necessarily the case.  I wish more things could be done online tbh.

It is frustrating though, because the problems I have getting out and dealing with people (plus a few others like IBS etc) stop me being able to work.  I've got a reasonable amount of knowledge in a few areas (cars being one of them!) but not the ability to use that in real life work environments.  I'm not fussed about relationships or holidays, or even owning a house etc, but the one thing I do want is a job.  Just can't find anything suitable for my current situation though.

That's something I try not to do, judge someone by the way they are. I'm a quiet person when I'm with family and probably with others but I'm the opposite when I'm with my cousins around the same age as me or friends. Sometimes people might think the same with me that I'm rude.

Haven't you looked at any jobs which allows you to work at home? My mum works in the council looking at housing benefits and she can work at home on the computer.

Just saw one of my friends today which we knew since secondary school. Sadly he said to me he's going to do a gap year from uni as hes suffered from so much stress that he had physchosis and was in hospital for 4 months 😢. Just was really stressed out myself a few days ago with my dissertation which I'm not happy about. Think gods showing me there's people out there who's suffered worse than me.

Yeah, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt as well, we never know what's going on in someone else's head.

Working from home would be ideal but I don't know where to find something suitable.  I spent a few years trying to find something part time and either from home or very local, and without having to speak on phones.  I just couldn't find anything though.  I thought the jobcentre or local disability advice centre might be able to help but they don't have the resources, they can only afford to help people into full time work or put people on benefits so they don't show as 'unemployed' for the government statistics.  So I'm just left trying to think of something suitable myself...but I'm a sheep, not a shepherd so that's much easier said than done.

4 months in hospital with Psychosis sounds awful.  Mental health problems seem to be getting more common now, particularly in early 20's at Uni etc.  I don't know if there's anything that could be done to reduce the stress of Uni though.  It's a shame the brain doesn't seem to be evolving to cope with modern day stress.  I get that it was a useful defence mechanism a few thousand years ago but now it just seems to cause more hassle than it's worth.

Have you finished and submitted your dissertation now?  If so just try to remember there's nothing you can do to change the outcome now so stressing about it won't make any difference.

Thanks Tom 👍 yeah it's submitted now but still get paranoid with it. I got feedback for it 2 days before the deadline and needed to redo my discussion part. Really got stressed then and don't think I have ever been that much before. This is the first dissertation I've done and feel now that I was not properly taught it. One of my friends sadly didn't submit his in time and might get capped 😢. Really just hope I do well in the other modules and get a overall decent grade.

Just Got a part ex figure on my 13 plate focus against a 66 plate Mondeo.

I nearly fell off my seat . To say I was surprised how low it was is putting it mildly. Evans halshall obviously like to have laugh!!!

The painfull part to it was I had to sit and listen to salesman trying to sell me every other insurance, warranty, breakdown cover, wheel repair , paint protection product going before he said the part ex figure.

I'd lost the will half way through the sales talk and decided to walk out .

Although I was happy with the part ex on my previous Fiesta when I bought the ST, the sales experience was also very tedious. The worst bits were the salesman not being able to make any decisions without going in to the manager's office for a 10 minute chat, and also never having any of my calls returned between agreeing the purchase and collecting the car :ranting:

Yeah, I had the salesman have to see the manager in the office for ever too.

I'm not the money at patient when it comes to buying anything. Probably why I like internet shopping, no sal Aman trying to upsell me anything. Don't get me started on my currypcworld experiences. Arrghh!!!

What did they quote you for your px? Ive just got £5500 for my 2012 Focus Zetec S 1.6 SCTi 46k. Picked the new car up today. Other dealerships offered me £5000, £5150 & £5250. CAP average was £5300.

My car was mint but I had £5500 in mind so after some haggling and pointing out how clean it was I was happy to get that. I then chipped them down on their car too. Doing my homework and being a previous used car salesman does help with getting a good deal though.

£3830! 1.0 ecoboost zetec appearance pack 13 plate 72k , with lots of extras ( but I know it won't make difference on trade in )

My car is also virtually mint condition.

Extras , sat nav, reverse cam , cruise, rear parking sensors , autolights/ wipers , etc etc. Lol

Now considering selling it privately. Will be an excellent car for some one. Over serviced by me.

Yeah, sell it private if you want more for it. I was going to sell mine private for between £6000-6500 but I couldn't really be bothered for an extra £500-1000 over what I got px. You could always ask where they are getting your px figure from and get them to show you the valuation. Why not get a valuation at the place you work at for a comparison?

What does the autotrader valuation say its trade-in price should be?

Can't see a trade in valuation on autotrader. Suggested selling price is 4900 if I want to sell it . Cheapest of similar age mileage advertised is £5100 .

I'm in no rush to buy or sell. My car is perfectly fine, just fancied a change after 5 years.

Edit, just gone on main autotrader site instead of the app and the part X option shows. And Evans halshaw  about right with the price.

If you type your reg in here and choose selling you should get a private guide price and a part-exchange guide price.

The other thing to remember is that a dealer will always offer less than the part-exchange guide price initially. When I negotiated the ST, I made sure the price difference between what I was offered and what I was paying was the same as the difference between the autotrader part ex guide price for my old car and the average autotrader dealer guide price for the ST before I accepted.

I'm in no rush, the car I looked at had been sat at there dealership since beginning of Jan, so thought they might have done a deal with me to get it gone.

This has also been my experience of traders...never have PX'd a car after the endless crap they go through before telling you the car's worthless...  I'd rather buy a car blind on ebay from a private seller than deal with traders tbh.

Saw this meme on  a motor trade page on Facebook recently...maybe if they just told us the damn PX price in the first 5 minutes it wouldn't be wasting their time either!
