Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

It's all a game, which I can play too...

After haggling to get the price I wanted I then asked for the wheels to be refurbed and to have new floor mats thrown in. At that point the salesman doesn't want to lose his commission :sly:

To be fair ,I forgot that's what the big dealers are like . I now remember when I bought my focus, that I had the same sales patter, even though before we started I said I just want to buy the focus at the advertised price, no haggling, cash sale , pay now, no px and pick up later the same day. He had to ask his manager if that was ok!! OK!  He still insisted on telling me about gap, finance options, alloy wheel , superguard. Etc etc.

It's certainly frustrating. It's also so obviously just an exercise in seeing how much money they can extract from you. It's not like they even pretend that getting you the car you want for a good price is their priority. As far as I'm concerned, main dealer salesmen are just a barrier to me buying a car...

Few years back I booked a text drive in the (then new) Mk 7.5 Fiesta ST at one of the big dealer groups. To my surprise they let me out unaccompanied, perhaps because of my apparent maturity😀, so off I went. Was giving it the beans on a quiet road when a pheasant flew up from a hedge and I hit it with the n/s mirror, so I drove back into the dealership with the sad remains dangling from the cable.

After that, I sort of felt obliged to sit through the sales spiel for an hour, and didn't show my face in there again until I estimated that the salesman would have moved on to another job.

I don't like my electric bill being 25% more than I'd budgeted for this month... 😮

Double checked meter readings and they're correct...  Even used 50Kwh less than last month, yet it cost more...

Checked the unit prices in the small print and see they've shot up in April!  4p more per day unit, 3p more per night unit...and being all electric here I get through a lot of night units just for hot water...  Haven't even had heating on this month.

Did you tell the salesman about the mirror or wait for him to find it and then act all surprised as if it wasn't you?  I mean I know which I'd have done...

Ha ha! Unfortunately the demo parking was right outside where he was sat, and it was pretty obvious! Otherwise............😀

I don't like seeing this...

I thought cereal bars would be pretty safe...how the hell are they managing to get salmonella in them!? 😮

Don't know if they use egg in the ingredients. Good also you brought this up as my mum goes food shopping in asda every week.

Are you in a position to shop around and change supplier?

I recently changed to Bulb, seems to be one of the cheapest around for me anyhow. There's a £50 incentive to join them as well if you use this link 😉

I'd hope there's no raw egg in them as they're not refrigerated.

I think they're cooked anyway so presumably any contamination would have to be after production... A leaky sewage pipe dripping into the packaging area for example...

Our tennant's agreement states that we're not allowed to change supplier...but it states a lot of things that other people take no notice of!

I'm also on an Economy10 tarriff which nowhere else seems to offer (bulb included).  I'm still looking to move anyway, due to a rent increase in June for the 3rd year in a row, so just got to put up with it for now.

Same boat as my mum was in then, she's got Economy 7/10 but found someone to change to (they have since gone bust though 🙄

Some companies just combine the two readings and don't have a 'cheap' time.

It's all a bit of a ball-ache right enough....... speaking of ball-aches, @lenney how's things? 🍒 (I couldn't find a pair of plums 😀

Quite a few companies still do economy 7 but that doesn't really work with storage heaters...they're red hot at 7am and cold by 5pm lol.  I like the afternoon/evening burst of cheap rate with E10 for the washer dryer and hoover etc as well.  Eon keep trying to push me onto a smart meter with a single tarriff but I'd be much worse off like that so keep declining.  My neighbours have all had them fitted though...I guess they aren't as tight as I am!

That's the wrong Lenny btw. I was wondering what had happened to him as well, hasn't been about for a few days...  I can only assume he's found more house improvements to make!

Oops! Tagged the right one now..... I think 🤔😀

I think the longer you can stay away from 'smart' meters, the better IMHO 😉

Smart meters is just a way for the government to make more money with the working class. My parents got a letter about the possible charge they'll have when the smart meters come in. I'm sure they said we use around 600 litres of water a month. Now my fish tank has 130 litres so 600l would be massive.

I like the idea of smart meters, being able to see exactly how much you're using in real time should help us all save a bit.  It'll also help the utility companies see how and when we're using electric which is useful for long term planning, it obviously helps their profits, but should also help us get a better service as well.  But currently they're unreliable, and they can't be used across companies.  If you change supplier they just go back to being a conventional 'dumb' meter which is a bit pointless. Plus they use SIM cards which doesn't work in low mobile signal areas.  There needs to be a British standard set up to make all of the meters the same regardless of company, and find a better way of broadcasting than SIM cards, maybe piggybacking peoples personal WiFi in poor signal areas.

I didn't know they were bringing out water smart meters as well though, maybe they're only starting in certain areas.  I guess you meant 6000 litres a month?  600 litres of water is barely anything.  I've just checked my water usage from the water bill, I use around 6,300 litres a month, that's just for me alone in a small flat.  So with a house and 4(?) people it should be a lot more than that.  It's surprising just how much water we use tbh...just one washing machine cycle is around 60 litres, a bath is 75 litres! 😮

😅 I've just saw this today and thanks for asking; well after I had saw the doctor he gave me a seven day course of anti inflammatory tablets; they reduced the lump down to a pea size and although the lump is still there now; it's the size of a pea now as it was once the size of a grape,

The doctor was supposed to phone me after the seven days of tablets to see if it had gone but he hasn't and I do intend to go back eventually;

He says; the lump is an amalgamation where the pipes were cut for the purpose of "vasectomy" he says; the left pipe is completely separated as it should be and he can feel both ends,

However on my right pipe there not seperated; instead there connected with this lump in the centre, as though it's some sort of clotting or mass formation after the pipe had been cut.

Thanks mate; to be fair I sometimes dont be in top form due to life being all work and no play at times, I think I maybe have a sort of depression at times and having stripped out the kids room prior to ordering a new bed and floor; then finding out that I could be waiting three weeks to get there room back to normal; I was quite deflated at the time and didn't contribute much online or in person; I was just working & sleeping.

600Ltrs isint that much mate,

Your bath if you have one; could take 400L to fill,

I had a leak under the gates of our driveway at a rate of 6,045 Litres per day; yes around 4 litres per minute yet the pressure in the house was still adequate and there was no visible signs of the leak on the surface,

I was against water meters being fitted over here in Ireland; but to be honest; if we hadn't had a water meter fitted then we wouldn't have known of the leak atall.

Might be wrong then with my thought 😂

I don't understand some of the programs people can make nowadays. Saw one called 'naked attractions' where well someone goes on the show and wants to find a person, match whatever you call it. They pick someone from a group of 5 people who are completely naked 🤢. They pick someone each time to remove from the stage until there's one person left which they go date with and decide if they want to continue dating them. First time I've seen genitalia close up and didn't know it comes in different shapes and sizes 😂🤮. What kind of shocks me is the age of some of the people who volunteer. One girl was 21 and another was as young as 19. Personally from how immature people are at my age and how people lack in making decisions I don't really like it.

Don't get how someone can date someone just by how they look naked. To me that's disgusting and strange.

There is another one called Naked Beach...but that's actually really good (imo lol).  It's a kind of therapy for people with body image issues and does seem to help them.  They basically spend a week with other naked people who are just normal (not really thin & buff etc!) and eventually get naked themselves.  I also found 'Lets Talk About s*x' quite interesting recently, with Danny Dyer and Miriam Margolyes and a few other people looking at how school s*x ed has changed over the years...

I'm not keen on Naked Attraction though...seeing willies and front bottoms up that close just makes me nauseous...   At that point I'm glad my TV's only small!

On the subject of TV programmes, have you been watching the Birmingham school swap one?  I was honestly amazed at the level of ignorance of school kids on both sides in this day and age.  😮  I did also learn a bit from it as well though tbf, found it really interesting!  Think the highlight was a white family inviting a Muslim family for dinner...and looking for a Halal lettuce in the local shop...

You did make me chuckle a bit 😂. I've heard of naked beach but don't think I've watched it. To me it looks like the media like to include nudity in their programs as they know they'll get more views.

Haven't seen the Danny dyer one. That reminds me, back in secondary school I remember they were doing *** education and once they wanted to take all the boys out of classes in the year to show them how to use you know what 'protection'. I was the only one who didn't and I remember my teacher saying to the girls in the class 'zain doesn't feel happy to go' 🤣. To me I don't believe in *** before marriage so didn't see the point going.

Actually saw that program yesterday. I was shocked when the cameraman said to an English man in the market 'do you like seeing Muslims here?' and he openly said he doesn't saying their teachings and laws they should not be inforcing and I'm not saying it that I'm racist.

One of the parents didn't like his daughter going to a school party where she'll have boys dancing with here 😂. I might be the same if I had a daughter as I know from a boys point of view what guys like to think about.

I don't like taxing the Lotus for £250, taking it out of Winter hibernation to get new silicone fuel filler hoses fitted, and discovering that the brakes don't work. After a trip on an AA flatbed and diagnosis at the garage I'm looking at a £700 bill for a new master cylinder and rear brake caliper :ranting:

😂 out of the blue; no pun intended there what makes you think it's a show I'd enjoy 😄

First time I saw it was when I went in the living room to spend some time with @VickiW and she was watching it; it was an awkward show to watch with your partner especially when she asks "which one do you think he will choose" and why 😰 more of a show you would stumble across when having a few drinks with the lads and comment on the various cabbage patches and kebabs on display, personally I prefer a neat enclosure.

I will be car less on Sunday😂
