Things I Don't Like

I don't like trying to go shopping early this morning, juggling a jumper, coat, bags for life, mask and sunglasses due to intense sun but also enough cold and damp to immediately make them useless...and to make matters worse everything was frozen as well.

I'd seen my neighbour go out with some water to aid his scraping which seemed to work for him...but not for me, maybe his was warmer!   Anyway, whilst scraping the windscreen I noticed the mirrors weren't defrosting...then noticed the rear screen had started but not done much.  Look inside and the battery light is on, rear screen had been cut-off.  Tried pressing the rear screen button but the screen came on for a second and then went off again...who maps these things!?  The rear screen is only needed while idling after a cold start, it's pointless if it only works while driving, raise the revs PCM! :ermm:  So, after scraping everything I started driving and worryingly the battery light didn't go out...  I only had a 2 mile trip to Tesco so held a lower gear hoping to get more charge into the battery.  Light went out just as I got to Tesco, and obviously had to park and switch off.  Que 10 minutes in Tesco panicking that the car wouldn't start when I left...  Fortunately it started fine, and no battery light...but of course I've only driven 2 miles home again.  So will the battery be dead in a day or two when I next go to use it?  Who knows!?  With that, the impending MOT and a knock/twang on the NS, I definitely think it's time for something else!

if the frost conditions persist then i anticipate that the battery will be dead,

if your not planning to purchase a brand new vehicle, you may consider purchasing a hand held power bank which has a 12v plug adaptor which will work on any car you drive in the future.

Lorenlli 30000mAh Portable Car Jump Starter Pack Booster LED Charger Battery Power Bank Emergency Starting Power Supply: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

Also works as a master key for any sealed unit which has a window

I don't like how intelegent and romantic our Bernese beagle is;

Thinks I'm Santa Claus 😂 sitting up on my lap giving me hugs, rubbing my cheek with his paw and trying to slap the lips on me.

I have to hold his paw as he will scratch my glasses, look at his eyes 🤣

Lucky he's afraid to climb the stairs

After my battery issues yesterday, car started fine today and stop start is working...makes no sense at all, 2 miles can't have given it much charge!

However, it started trying to regen when I got home just now, didn't have time to take it out again...so the fans ran on for a good 5 minutes after shutoff...que more battery charge anxiety!

Well, there goes the surprise element!

It's not a 5 pot I'm afraid!  I've accepted that a Mk2.5 ST isn't going to happen for me.  You'll have to wait for the reveal...I better get some of those coloured smoke grenades!

It's been over 2 years since I last owned a Ford surprisingly!! 😳  Wait, what on earth am I still doing here?

I was tempted by a MK4 Focus tbf, but the lack of IRS put me off, and my budget would only stretch to a 125ps Titanium...

You're still here as we are a joyfull bunch of members.

I don't like when a warning came up on my dashboard to clean screen as camera is dirty, I wouldn't mind but I had just washed the car. Just another fault to add to the many others.

How long does it take for employers to respond back to applicants? Was happy last week getting two interviews just a day after applying to those jobs but since then no real updates on other jobs 🤔. Some of these deadline are in the beginning of December so probably might have to wait.

I really don't want to make you feel any worse mate; but if those places are anything like the one that I work in; they pay an employment agency to advertise jobs and process interviews off site, however there are then on site interviews for either the brother, sister or cousin of someone whom already works there; and they usually start the following week,

Whether there a worker or not doesn't seem to matter; although they would have been employed based on there existing employee relative being a good hard working employee; the fact that they then only value the monthly salary which then enables them to live the same lifestyle as there peer,

I've saw some very surprising leaps in careers; from working in the bread Isle of Tesco to manufacturing ingredients for a vaccine; all because the cousin is a good worker and they really want to afford a car like his, but they don't have the same initiative or passion for the job which in my line of work is a requirement to achieve optimal results, the care for the process really helps.

To summarize then mate; my main purpose for posting this was to let you know; if the places your applying is anything like mine then the frustration doesn't end with only you. 😅 And another fact is; you can't put a farmer in to pharmaceutical, it's car crash television in terms of hygiene and Good manufacturing practice.

@BigLen thanks Lenny. Yeah could be the case. NHS jobs for example they try to prevent this from happening by identifying any relatives in high positions in the department.

Still though the two interviews I had one of them I applied for 2 days before the application deadline so they must of been looking through applications then. Probably have to wait near the deadline to hear anything. Just have to be patient. I had an email from foxtons about one trainee mortgage advisor job I applied for and being unsuccessful. I think big companies like this would want someone with a few years sales experience to take them on.

I'll just add to the gloom by saying that for some large companies, with internal promotions sometimes you have to offer it as a new role and open it to external candidates even if a) you have no intention of actually bringing in an external person and b) you know exactly who's going to fill the role.

However, on the plus side having a job get close to the deadline without hearing doesn't necessarily mean you've not been considered. With large organisations it will be HR doing the legwork to get the candidates and setting some sort of cut-off for responses, but the hiring manager is the one who actually has to review the applications, and they may have their own deadline. Sometimes what HR deems is a suitable candidate and what the hiring manager actually wants are two different things.

I don't know what's going on with my electricity bill this month...

I pay each month, put readings in on the 28th and pay immediately through the phone app.  But yesterday I put the readings it, it accepted them, but wouldn't let me pay and said my next bill is due on December 7th.  Anyone know why that might be?  I've just double checked and definitely paid the last one on Oct 28th.  This is really going to mess up my bills spreadsheet! :ermm:

So true. Having been a "hiring manager" often wondered what planet HR were on!😀

Thanks Eric. One of the interviews I had was with a well established company. They've been set up since 1930 and have 150 branches in the UK plus buying out other companies. The application deadline was on the 13th and I applied on the 11th and next day got a interview email 😁. The problem was the location was 50 miles away however they have another vacancy in a branch closer to me 25 miles away so waiting to hear back from that place however the deadline is on the 7th of December so probably have to wait closer then. Hopefully the guy I had the interview with who runs the branches in the area passed my details to the head guy in the area closer to me which he said he'll do will help me.

In my job, promotion seems to be controlled by your golf handicap and how you shake hands.

What's promotion? 😂😂

Is that still a thing? I thought the whole handshake thing had died a death, certainly not as big a thing up here as it used to be.

More than you think.
Another good one is direct entry graduates, they come straight from university with no life skills and parachute into senior posts then try to tell officers with 15+ years in the job that they're doing it wrong.

I visited a 'handshake' hall last year on a historic open day.  Lovely place, but I was amazed how seriously it's still all taken!
