Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I don't like that I finished my Tesco click and collect order last night , clicked on confirm changes but then forgot to check out. So tonight I'm picking up a very light shop. All of £30 instead of our usual £90+

Got toilet rolls on the shop so not all bad, can never have to many nowadays!! curry sauces( but no chicken)  and beer in there too. So that's tea sorted .

Maybe need those toilet rolls after all.

I don't like how expensive everything seems to be nowadays...  Electricals all seem expensive even on AO.com.  Don't know if there's anywhere cheaper though.  And are there any cheap, but decent, online places for furniture (bed, wardrobe, arm chair, etc) with next day delivery?  I've seen ads for places like Wayfair but they don't seem to be as cheap as their ads suggest!

Evening Tom. I have some codes for AO if you're after anything (not sure if they are single use as I did use the £30 off £399). The codes might also be case sensitive as they are all uppercase on the flyer:

£20 off £299 - 112050545b or 112050545B

£30 off £399 - 7aa8efc423 or 7AA8EFC423

@zain611I hope you're feeling better. I have heard from a few colleagues that they or a friend/family member has tested positive but thankfully they all seem to have little to mild symptoms and are getting over it. There are of course the common colds and seasonal flu's that are going around so it's just that time of the year to be feeling unwell.

As for my own I don't like, I'm going to be returning to my old role after the 2nd January from my management secondment. I'm both a little disappointed (at myself) and happier (at the prospect of less pressure to shoulder) but feel like I've let down some of my colleagues around me. I'm going to carrying doing my best through the next few weeks into the new year and when the chaos of Brexit starts in Kent, will probably get the blame from the next person for anything that goes wrong .

@Zico thanks man I really do appreciate that. There's sadly that risk there as my cousin who tested positive the household got sick a few days after like me and my sister when we visited. Ordered a home covid test kit to see what happens. My main worry is I hope I don't have no severe symptoms like breathing difficult which I would need medical attention on.

I'm not worried if I have it just that I don't go downhill and suffer from anything serious or have no permanent lung damage. I'm looking out for my parents as they don't have any symptoms plus dad is diabetic.

I don't think I'll be able to attend tomorrow's interview also. Not too bothered as this job basically would be a filler not a job that starts my feet in my career. Mum wont be happy but things happen for a reason. Never know I might get a phone interview for a trainee mortgage advisor role soon and might get offered the job.

Argos has some surprisingly decent furniture sometimes. I got a solid wood bed there about 15 years ago, and despite the best efforts of the cat to scratch it to pieces it's still going strong.

Got my covid home test kit. May post it off tomorrow and see what I'll get. Not too bothered if I have it or not just that my health doesn't deteriorate and my parents are safe

Try Aosom for furniture items

I've bought a fold out desk from them before, laptopsdirect are great for televisions too.

Life is like a box of chocolates

Has anyone bought or sold a car since Dec 1st?  If so could you PM me the reg to check something on the .gov site?

I bought a few on 1:64 scale on Amazon

I don't like watching the news which is showing the impact on Irish ports in the event of a no deal Brexit,

I also don't like that I will be faced with a minimum of €40 import tax on any item purchased from the UK which costs over €150 on top of the currency exchange and shipping costs which is going to happen here regardless of a trade deal in the future; that's the European Union advice towards the irish government to implement.

I also don't like that the existing Irish government which nobody voted for; the government we voted for didn't have enough candidates to form a government so we got a mixed bag with a lepracon at the head of it, but anyway; I don't like that they are now resembling the final months of WWII where hilter sent children to the front lines of defense; the Irish government is now putting student nurses out of various levels of training and directly in to hospitals and care homes which have been taken over by the government due to covid outbreaks; there now putting students forward as the front line of defence against covid19 with various levels of skill,

Many questions prevail; will training ever be recalled, completed and certified,

Finally then; Next February will be the beginning of the third wave of covid here and I anticipate it will be the worst yet; a contributing impact will be the newly introduced import taxes on items purchased from the UK where Amazon has helped alot of people here to get through the past two lockdown periods the additional fees will make it non viable contributing to the feelings of social isolation.

Just to update this.  I've found the answer I was looking for.  For anyone buying or selling a car at the moment, only make the V5C change online.  Due to low staff during Covid, postal V5 applications are currently taking 6 to 8 weeks!! 😮  Online applications should complete within 7 days.

Well, at least they're still talking, Lenny.

Simon Coveney (don't know if you voted for Fine Gael or not😀) was probably right in saying the other day 97% of the deal is sorted.

I had some (fortunately limited) experience of dealing with the European Commission through my work and the way this is going doesn't really surprise me. It could just be a matter of coming up with a form of words to cover a compromise but which enables both sides to present it as a "win" to their various constituents.

That reminds me, I have to update my V5C since I moved into my flat. Done the driving licence and insurance a few weeks ago (driving licence must have turned up within 3 or 4 days).

Be sure to do it online then!  I have wonder if online DVLA post is all automated somehow...can a machine fold the printed sheet and place it into an envelope? :g:

Don't suppose you made a list of everyone you'd have to inform about an address change?  I made one back in March when I was meant to be moving but it's disappeared at some point in the last 9 months lol.

Just got my covid test results back today.

I am POSITIVE for covid 😲. No worries guys I'm getting better. Just my sinuses are getting clearer and my nose is getting better and I'm just trying to suppress a cough. Been 7 days since I fell sick so it does take time.

Good news that it is getting better, It does seem to effect people differently.

Mine was worse than yours but no cough or sinus problems, but my younger brother had it much lighter and for not as long but with different symptoms. He caught it from my mother, who was seriously ill and she caught it from me, so I doubt it mutated twice in a short space of time like some people have been suggesting.

Hopefully your parents and grandparents are ok.

Very sorry to hear this news mate, although it's great to see that it hasn't stopped you in your tracks

@zain611 new episode of the GrandTour is going to be released on Prime Video this Thursday called "A massive Hunt" should take your mind off everything else for an hour,

Thanks guys I honestly really appreciate the support 😊. Does uplift me as I feel fed up with life at the moment with what's all happened this year.

Yeah lol I have been watching some movies on Amazon prime. Yesterday watched non stop with Liam neeson. Getting there slowly. During the day I'm just studying my mortgage course.

Noticed not much jobs have been advertised this month. Hopefully it's just because it's December and a lot more come out next month.

Did the driving licence online which wanted everything under the sun (but I had all details to hand).  Insurance wouldn't recognise the address (new build development) so had to call them up. I will do the V5C by the weekend as it's a bit busy at the moment during the week.

I haven't made any list of address changes but gradually sorting out all my accounts that need the new address in order of importance. If things go to my old address then it's not a major issue as it's my father's house anyway.

@zain611 good to hear you're pretty much getting well and haven't had anything worse. That is the main point some people don't understand is that it could be nothing to some people but fatal to others.

Don't like I've got the tiredness/ weary feeling  when you get jetlag after a flight across at Atlantic but not set foot in an airplane. Worked a little to hard for my aging body trying to keep up with the youngsters this week. Only did 4 days this week but been so busy , getting up at 4.40am and constantly on my feet for 11-12 hrs and not having time to sit down. Who said the motor trade was having a down turn due to covid . Never been busier. Next week looks no different.

Yeah thing is it does take time to get over. I'm still trying to get my sense of taste and smell back and my sinuses are still very slightly blocked hence why my senses are messed up still. Got a weird cough still that happens involuntarily like a habit.

It's not looking good in the family though. In the household I caught it from my granddad went hospital yesterday as he was weak. Found that he had pneumonia so he's over there getting treatment. My gran who's a cancer patient today went hospital very recently as she has a fever and she needs to be monitored as she's a cancer patient. Never heard both paternal grandparents going hospital together before and sadly it being tier 4 in London can't go out to see them. My aunt, 2 uncles and 3 cousins are living there watching over the house.

Then I found out a few other family members got this virus. Honestly sounds like it's spreading quicker with the so called new variant.

Had my windscreen replaced two weeks ago;

The day after replacement; I realized it was leaking at the top; contacted the insurance they said the guy would be back in six days; had to call again and he is supposed to arrive today.

Here it was on my social distancing lunch break in work last night; while watching the TV; I felt a bit like Bear Grylls in the Amazon with the rain coming through;

It's a significant flow.

Those women in TOWIE who think they look good with those pumped up lips 🙂
