Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I'm sure I've mentioned this one before but....... ticket scalpers!!! 😡

Foo Fighters tickets on general sale this morning. Sold out/not available within a couple of hours yet on the reseller sites they're available for greatly inflated prices within minutes!

Something needs to be done! To be honest I thought that Dave Grohl would have put something in place that would have made scalped tickets at least difficult to resell.

Personally I think that Ticketmaster have gotten too big and acts, especially bigger names such as Foo Fighters, need to take a stand and start ensuring that the real fans are looked after and make it not worthwhile to the scalpers!

were the government at one point trying to stamp down on scalping. Outside ticket sites need shutting down.

I'm sure it was spoken about at some point but nothing seems to have come of it yet 🙄

I've nothing against secondary selling for legitimate reasons but mass buying for the sole reason of reselling needs to stop.

It's not just tickets.  'Flippers' are buying all sorts of limited items with the sole purpose of reselling at a profit, meaning the real fans miss out.  Some sites are trying to reduce this by limiting items to one or two per customer but it doesn't appear to have been that effective so far.

I agree, even some of the limited specials that Lidl have now and again are sold out within minutes of appearing instore on their allotted day and end up for sale on eBay at a profit.

Asda - George mens larger sizes on clearance are gone within seconds, then appear on ebay.

Last week Lidl did a '24 hour' special on a Parkside cordless grass trimmer (I love Parkside tools). I was there 10 minutes after opening time, there was only one left, and I could physically see the other 5 men wandering round the store with it safely tucked under their arm. I just love mine!

Cant beat the 3 year guarantee let alone the prices. Tho sadly i did return my cordless jet wash thing as it was vastly underpowered.

Some of you may remember the 'odour' issue I had in the flat a few weeks back.  Have now confirmed it's not a fault as such, just the general smell from downstairs getting up here.  Trouble is, I can't see any more holes to block up.  Must be penetrating the floor or walls somehow!

Having windows open makes it worse as that creates a lower pressure space up here to draw it up.

Only thing I can do is try to neutralize it until I can move.  Any idea what substance would be best for that?  Don't want another smell on top.  And don't want anything that will attract bugs.  Tried a fridge deodorizer but it wasn't big enough to have any impact in a room, even a small one.

That's the sort of thing I've already tried.  Didn't seem to make any difference and the gel is disappearing much more quickly than expected.

I was considering refilling the pot with something else.  Bicarb or similar.

Lots of 'old fashioned' remedies, yes, Bicarb, soda crystals etc.. I'm a big fan of 'old fashioned', they usually have a basis of something that actually works, before Lever Brothers got hold of them and commercialised the industry!

When i was doing property inspactions for a local housing association, i went to inspect a house, pre and post repairs ready for relet. It reeked of curry and spices as the tenant had been making curry mixes for sale via FB. The smell had permeated the plaster which had to be 90% removed and then fumigated. there was still a very faint smell after refurb. Some smells you just cant shift.

Don't like I've got to drive my partner's fiesta to work tommorow. Having to use a clutch pedal and even the brake pedal on occasions!! She either hit a kerb or pot hole and got bulge in the tyre. So that's my lunchtime fitting a new tyre and balance.

I don't like that when my neighbours friends leave after a visit, they have this overwhelming urge to blare their car horn several times!!

What the heck is it for? They're already out on the driveway waving their little heart out, yet the selfish car bound folk feel the need to disturb surrounding 8 or so houses with their racket. 🤬

:toot:

Funny I have exactly the same issue with one of my neighbors.

We all know about the wet belt problems of the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engines, but they are not alone. It's like a hidden research lab (perhaps in Wuhan ?) with some mad scientists got together and developed Covid19 for cars.

Coincidentally some friends of ours dropped by yesterday. He has recently retired from running an independent servicing garage so (as usual) the male conversation quickly turned to cars while the "girls" went off shopping.

While eying up my new Fiesta my friend said "At least that one doesn't have a wet cambelt. Whoever dreamt up that idea must have been some mad scientist who should be locked up!"😀

That is a fascinating video, over 30 teeth on that belt missing, and it drove in! That is one very lucky car owner, and the mechanic appeared to do a sterling job! First time too I have really understood the whole wet belt issue! Must admit though, that engine on eventual start up sounds horrible, I've heard silkier sounding buses! LOL

Yup !!

Almost sounds as good as a London Taxi 🤣
