Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I used some recently to do an emergency repair on a plastic waste pipe and I'd say it's very much like a large elastic band. For the job I used it on it was soft and flexible, the hardest part was getting the first full wrap so that it would stick to itself 👍

Don't like trying to fix something and making it worse...

Shark stick vac.  The cord protector at the top split and kept cutting my wrist.  Tried to tape it with insulation tape but it's worse now, very stiff and sharp.  Any ideas on a softer repair?

Sharks customer service is really quite good, have used them a few times and they have replaced items and parts regardless if the item is in warranty or not. I'd be tempted to see what they suggest 😉

Thanks.  I'll give that a go, though I doubt they'll send me a new handle assy at a cost of £70 lol.  Warranty must have expired by now.

Make sure you stress that you are concerned that the electrical safety of the cleaner may have been compromised - £70 (and that's retail, not a cost price) is small beer compared to a dead customer...

I'd say that depends on the customer...

Well, I've checked every box I can think of (it's a small flat, not many places things can hide)...found more insulation tape, parcel tape, magic tape, PTFE tape, Sellotape, masking tape, detailing tape, even a cassette tape...but no self amalgamating.  Think it probably ended up in one of the boxes I sent away for storage. 🤦‍♂️

Don't have a soldering iron here.  (That's also I'm storage lol).  And I don't think I've ever been sporty enough to buy tennis racket tape!

Will send Shark an email later to see if they'll help at all but if there any more ideas, feel free to share them.

They also have a live chat via which will allow you to show them the item and see what's wrong. Dont forget to use the usual ....it was bought as a gift etc, they will ask for a serial number from the product itself 👍

Over the last 6 months the FOC seem to have lost a lot of the regulars. Many of them have been regular posters here for six, seven, or more years. They can't all have defected to the other side ?

@isetta is just one regular who suddenly vanished 24th March 2023. Does he know too much, have big pharma had him cancelled ??? 🤔

Good to know that when I leave in a wooden box, I'll have a nice memorial on this forum

I expect it to be quite a charged event and sponsored by Maypole 🤣

Only 4 of those members have visited in the past 6 months.

Peoples lives change, circumstances change, commitments change...  The pandemic has made an awful lot of people realise 'what's important' in life.  I'm afraid to say that doesn't generally include posting on car forums.

I'd like to hope they're out enjoying themselves somewhere - travelling, friends & family, cultural experiences, making memories, driving something more interesting than a mediocre hatchback.

I know I'd rather be doing all that if I could!

Yeah, but there's always 5 mins in a day when you check in to annoy--- I mean help other forum members . I find time even though I spend most of my time charging my car!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣Not!

For the record I've just driven from the Midlands to isle of wight( obviously used the ferry for the wet bit, electric cars can't go through puddles remember or I would be electrocuted) on a single charge with 17% left. Now going to plug into the cottages 3 pin outside socket for free while we here.

Meter wheel? Is that some Victorian device?

Does anyone know what a 'payable order' is and how to actually use one?

I've been trying to order a cheque book for weeks.  First one I ordered failed altogether.  Second one I got an email confirmation for, stating 3-5 working days delivery, but that was over two weeks ago now.  The email was from a 'noreply' address so I can't directly ask what's happened to it.

Just tried my other bank account, both app and online, but can't find any way to order one.  There is a link on one of their web pages but it just redirects back to my own profile page.

If I can't get a cheque book then the only alternative in this case is a payable order.  But I have no idea what that is and Google hasn't helped!

(Quick reminder that I can't travel to a branch or speak on a phone.)

It might be the modern name for the old fashioned, 'postal order'. You need to go to a post office, and buy one over the counter, expensive way of doing a money transfer though as there is a 'charge' for the postal order, it's not free...

Ah ok, thanks.  Another inaccessible method for me then. 🤦‍♂️

Will have to keep trying to get a cheque-book delivered.  Thought I still had an old one but turns out it's a paying-in book instead.
