Heater Control Valve Help Please.

Hi All,

I have a mk6 ford fiesta zetec and My heater has started playing up. At first it would only blow hot air now its only blowing cold air! I think after some research that it is the heater control valve at fault.

I would be grateful for some help with the exact location and also advice on how much work is needed to change it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks Mike.

Have you checked the connections at the back of the dashboard heater controls?

There is no control valve. The heater is permanently fed by hot water but the amount of heat delivered is controlled by sending some of the air through a bypass. The heater/bypass is controlled by a flap connected to the knob with a bicycle type cable.

If you take the panel off the driver's side footwell the cable and where it connects to the crank arm for the flap can be seen. Turning the knob should make the cable move.

Thanks for the info. I will check it out. The valve the mechanic mentioned is inside the engine bay apparently?

I think I'm right by saying I have a mk 6 (2010)
