LincolnEscort
I have just purchased an N reg 1.6 Ghia with the CVT automatic. With the car in D and the handbrake on should the car still be trying to move forwards ? such as waiting at traffic lights or in a queue of traffic. I was told that in these circumstances I should apply the handbrake and go into N but to me that defeats the object of being automatic. Apart from that the car is superb. I had the old type of automatic years ago on an X reg Granada and quite sure then when stationary the same thing did not occur, it went into a type of automatic neutral.
