Piston Broke
Hi All, and a Merry Xmas :) I've got a 1.8 TDi Mondeo Estate on a 59 plate, just done 100k miles. How do I find out if its a belt or a chain ? and if a belt, I guess its ready for a new one ?
FOCA
Its complicated - some cars have belts, some have chains (or a mixture of both/ or belts in oil!) i suppose you could strip the engine down to see which - it is expensive to get them replaced - they are supposed to last 125K/10years so you have a bit of breathing space Ba humbug
horromark
I had the same query, I contacted my local Ford dealer, asked for parts, gave them my reg and asked for the Cambelt/chain, They'll tell you either way, My 2008 1.8TDCi has a Belt.
