Thanks kurt for the reply. I dont think the mini 0803 is a dual cam.Its an upgrade over lasts years mini 0801 I think. Techmoan uses the mobius in his car according to this video below but he states that the mini0803 is his favorite camera with a screen he has reviewed so I would say its bound to be decent enough. I may get the Mobius maybe for the rear of the car and the Mini 0803 for the front. I would like a screen for the front ca, and not overly bother about screen for rear cam so the mobius may be an option here due to its size.

Here is the link of Techmoan reviewing the min0803 have a look and see what you think.

Get a mobius, honestly I think you are over thinking the screen part of things lol, its illegal to use it once the car is driving anyways and after a while you'll not even look at the screen anymore.

Gps is not worth the extra cost, all too often the way gos data is stored is messy, either in some weird format only readable by software for the camera... software that is slow and inaccurate, the ones that can use Google maps etc store gps data along side video files, you'll have about 3 files for every clip of video with or without gps signal locked which takes a long time Btw.

I've had the mobius long enough to know it's a winner. Reliability 100% without any issue, video quality is perfection. Only two requirements that should be noted, compatible sd card either from the seller or the link Ben posted. Next is stable power, once those two are met the mobius is bullet proof

I second the Mobius, absolutely cracking bit of kit. Discreet, reliable and does the job. I already have a reverse parking sensors screen so didn't want anything else clogging up my front screen.

I drove down to bournemouth last weekend had the mobius on the whole time. Took 3 hours instead of 2, due to M25 traffic, but the sun was blazing down. Never a problem.

I also leave the mobius in the car unless I'm transferring videos and to give you an example of how hot it's been. The glue that stuck my reverse parking sensors screen to the velcro strip holding it above the rear view mirror, melted away due to the hot weather, yet the mobius was perfectly fine.

As for configuration, plug it into the PC, configure a few settings, and leave it in your car, only take it out to periodically backup the videos should you desire. But if you definitely require a screen, then its not for you.

But best dash cam that fits my needs

Yeah that's something I missed, it's been so hot that my tax disc fell off from the heat yet the mobius sticky pad still holding perfectly!! You would have thought the weight and vibration from pot holes would loosen it but nope, I used the exact same glass cleaner before applying tax disc and cam.

I don't take my cam out anymore to back up I used to then I realised I could pop out the sd card with ease lol.

I will post up the cam I'm on about once I find it again

I remember this cam, i considered it once, there are alot of fakes and different models out there, i never found one exactly like what techmoan reviewed for a decent price, different mic positions/dual mic, different buttons etc, then i came across the mobius, the link posted from his video is a good source, this is one of my favourite cams with a screen but it is £15 more than the mobius and that's the mobius including sticky mounts/suction cup and addition usb cable overall i prefered the better video quality of the mobius.

I think this would suit your needs well though, interested to know how it does long term

Ok fellas I'm seriously lost again lol! Taking on board everyone's advice here the Möbius seems to be most reliable. I guess I don't really need a screen and I could sacrifice the screen for the compact size of the Möbius.

Kurt can you post pics of your installation of the Möbius?

Has anybody had any issues at all with the Möbius?

How long have you all been using the Möbius?

Is it reliable as in does it always rec when supposed to?

Is there overheating issues ore are they made stories from hotter country's?

Is the mount and USB connection flimsy or should it last long term?

Has it got a good wide angle lens? (Looking at Kurt's focus footage it seems to have good coverage is pillar to pillar)

Where can I get best price for Möbius?

Thanks guys for help with this a all in advance.

Here are some pics of my cam, some are during my relentless testing of the cam, many different settings and windscreen positions, i never actually used the suction cup mount i went for the sticky pad only, i left it on with tape before i permanently used the sticky pad so i could find what position that worked the best for me.

The camera sits on the left side of my mirror because i now have automatic lights the sensor does get in the way a bit therefore my cam is slightly off centered, this isn't a prob as i can still see from pillar to pillar with a tad bit of the automatic light sensor top right of the screen, i must say even with that within the camera view and the heated windscreen the camera still focus on traffic and light perfectly, if it wasn't for my car automatic light sensor, could have easily push the camera higher hiding it even more (Note that my sensor has been retrofitted by myself and is lower than a factory one)

ATM i'm using the basic lens that came with the camera (There are optional lens, the mods) Lens A (Stock) the camera normal wide angle at 1080p lens B however is an even wider lens, i wouldn't recommend buying it because lens A is so good to start with.

I made my purchase in early january so i've been using the camera for 6 months, i have not had any reliability issues at all within that time, no issue at all infact, however at the start i did have memory card issue, seems my SD card was a knock off and only worked in my phone. PC or laptop could not detect it nor could the cam, i bought another SD card and updated my cam firmware, ever since then it has truly been problem free, If you do purchase one there are SD cards recommend for the mobius or you can just buy one from the seller himself, ben (Hyrule) posted a link recently of a card he bought on eBay that now sits comfy in his mobius.

No overheating issues, the camera does feel a little hot when working for long periods although it isn't any hotter than your mobile phone during a phone call nor has any of my videos been corrupted or damaged.

The quality of the camera is superb, i really like the grippy rubber-ish feel of the body, usb sockets are well made, the camera does not feel flimsy and your usb cable won't bounce out if you hit a pothole, mounts are good quality too but incase you don't like the original mounts you can actually purchase other mounts from anywhere else, the camera holder has a standard tripod thread, will fit on any tripods, or tripod threaded mounts.

Best price here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobius-ActionCam-Full-HD-Sports-Camera-1080P-30FPS-720P-60FPS-Pocket-Camcorder-/151071891306?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras&hash=item232c961f6a

This is the cheapest and the only place i can recommend buying from, this seller is actually one of the people who developed the cam, they can offer real support if you ever need it and they reply to emails.

Saying all that though i think you should get a camera with a screen, why? well you've want one from the start and if you don't experience that first you'll always be left with a feeling of needing a cam with a screen just to experience it

thanks for answering my questions Kurt.

I honestly think I will ditch the screen for the compactness of the mobius. I really like the way you have it hidden beside the mirror and the standard lens looks great in terms of quality and the side to side view.

Im just hoping it will last be reliable and that will make it a good investment for me.

Can the cam be connected to android tablet or anything as a monitor or just a laptop?

I would like to connect to it from time to time just to make sure all is ok in terms of position and settings ect. but if not its ok I will still go with it.

also on the install is it possible that you can run one lead from the camera that powers the cam and the smae lead splits to connect to a video monitor ie a dvd player ect ? I have make a small diagram to show you what I mean. It would leave a kind of monitor connection somewhere in the car to connect a monitor to and not have to move the cam. Maybe a pointless idea but just a thought

Thanks again.

Im so stupid lol! upon looking at your link kurt the pic in the ad is the lead i'm on about. I have included the pic below. So now that i know the lead exists can i power the mobius with this lead and extend the yellow video lead to my in car DVD players video input to act as a monitor?

idea is that the mobius is recording away but if i (my kids or wife lol!) switch the DVD player over to "video in" it should show the live feed from the mobius.

will this work? of so i'm diffidently sold on the mobius

that should definately work! and also if you want to playback you can use an OTG cable, plug it into your droid, and use the mobius droid app to playback

Excellent james. I'm deffantly going to get the Möbius. I'm happy I'm have found a small cam that's good quality and I can have a monitor as well lol! So best of all round.

Hopefully its reliable and lasts a long time. I had a thought on the overheating issue if it were a problem I was thinking maybe would drilling a few vent holes in the case mould help hot air escape?

I'm just thinking ahead here. So is the link that kurt posted the best price and place for the Möbius?

Link to comment

you could indeed drill a few holes, but you would of course need to be careful that you dont drill too far into the PCB.

As for the price, there are cheaper in the 808 '16 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-DVR-808-16-Motion-Detect-Micro-Camera-Real-HD-720P-H-264-Pocket-Camcorder-/181206315912?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item2a30bcf388

this one is only £25 but comes from the land of China, although I dont know if the 808#16 is in fact the same Mobius, or a clone thereof!

James I like the shape of the Möbius better I think.

How's the gs8000l holding out?

Will I never get a Möbius ?

Is the quality of the gs8000l inpare with the Möbius? I may get a gs8000l for rear window.

I'm concerned about The heat issues on the Möbius but I read on techmoan website that you can change the battery for a capacitor and this reduces the heat of the can and most of the heat was originally coming from the type of battery used in the can.

Don't know if this would work but has any one done this or is it just heat in hotter climates that give the can heat issues?

All in all I think I may have the Möbius within the next month (if nothing else comes along lol!).

Gs is still good but has reverted back to its non looking ways. It's no big issue about 5 clicks of buttons and it's fixed.

That cable can provide video and audio out whilst powering the mobius. You need an otg cable from the seller and a compatible android.

A capacitor is not a replacement for the battery, as it cannot be used for recording without external power like a battery can, the only purpose of the capacitor is to maintain enough power after the cable has been unplugged, long enough to save the last video file, that's it, nothing else.

I'm not sold on changing the battery for a capacitor even if heat wise it's a bit cooler because a really worn out battery will still always have enough power to save it's video file no matter how old it is or over charged it is, it only needs a few mA for 2-3 seconds.

The link I posted is the best and already proven/used by myself and others. Price has also dropped by 1 pound since u bought mine

Thanks kurt I will put the trust in you guys and go for it. It will be ordered at the end of the month.

I ment to ask what's the longest time you have had it record at any one time and was there much of a heat issue?

Also is yours hard wired in to car or did you add an extra 12v socket?

I'm looking forward to This cam I can't believe thew size of it, has to be easily the most discrete dash can on the market. I'm glad I have finally settled on one because there is so many out there.

I've had my Mobius since about Feb/March and all working well - bought it after reading the very good reviews on various forums. I made a custom mount to put it behind the drivers side of the rearview mirror and hardwired back to an ignition live fuse tap under the glove box (fit and forget, and very discrete). I take it out every now and then to download any interesting footage and it has always shown what I expected. The only thing is that I have a magnetic mount and I don't always align it perfectly so sometimes have the corner of the rain sensor in the picture if its a bit skew, but no big problem.

The longest trip I have done with it filming is about 13 hours non stop (well only for fuel and toilet stops) and while the heatsink was hot to touch it didn't cause it any problems.

To be honest the cost of these things is no more than a reasonable meal out (and I don't see too many people spending weeks deciding which restaurant to go to on a Saturday night). I would just order it to try and you will be pleasently surprised

South bound

Thanks for replie. Wow 13 hours lol! Don't think I would do that much of a journey at most it would be t a trip with the kids to somewhere and that at Max would be 2 to 2-1/2 hours with a shop stop on the way lol!.

Im gonna get the Möbius and see how things go. Looking at videos here and youtube the quality is great so I think its the one.

Have you got any pics of your install and your homemade mount?

Cheers.

Yeah that was an all nighter pulling a trailer loaded with furniture, got off the ferry in Cherbourg at 5pm and rolled up in the south of France at 6am next day. Not something to do every day.

I'll get some photos tonight and post them. I did put some pictures of the wiring on here somewhere and I'll see if I can find them and put up the link.

Sorry about the delay in getting these posted - this is my home made mount for the Mobius. It is basically a metal L bracket bent to fit the slope of the windscreen, wrapped in matt black tape and siliconed to the the glass. I tried double sided tape but that didn't hold long in the heat and diect sun but silicone really does the job.

Then I tie wrapped a thin steel plate to the Mobius case and use a magnet to hold this to the bracket. At first I used the tripod mount with a short bolt through a hole in the bracket but decided that the magnet idea would make it easier to take the camera on and off to review footage etc. This is good to do every now and then to make sure it is still recording as it should (which it is) and also to build up a collection of clips of dangerous or unusual driving habits, or just anything of interest. I might find time to edit it into a compilation sometime...maybe.

The whole lot is mounted just behind the rear view mirror on the drivers side. There is not much room there but I find it better and more stealthy than the other side and it is easier to check the LEDs from there. None of my passengers have ever noticed it so far.

The wiring is hard wired into the passger footwell fuse box to an ignition live using fuse tap. The wire runs up the A pillar and behind the rain sensor cover so completely invisable until it comes out right at the back side of the mirror. I got a right-angled USB connector to get the cable going in the right direction towards the mirror to make it easier to fit.

Here is a picture taken from the driver's door.
