jduck1979
The grille on my Mk4 (Facelift) / Mk5 (whichever you prefer to call it) lifts out so you can take the front end apart to change the headlight bulbs......... so when I also needed to take it off to fit a DMB gel badge last year, I just stuck it in the bath and hosed it off with the shower.

MarksST
^^^ ST grill is a bit more difficult to remove, lol. Get some detailing brushes from eBay, they are soft enough not to scratch anything, I have a selection but mainly use auto finesse's hogs hair brushes. Using a pre wash can help but drying it properly will help more as the grill tends to hold a lot of water. A detailing spray can assist drying.
