Transmission problem - service issue?

I have a 2013 Galaxy. I bought it from a Ford dealer in 2014 and have had it serviced every year. I drive about 10000 miles  a year. This week a warning message appeared saying ‘limited transmission function’. The local garage took a look and tell me the transmission fluid is thick and black, the solenoids have collapsed and the repair work will cost between £2.5k and £5k. I can’t help thinking that the transmission fluid should have been checked during each annual service and am interested to hear what other owners experience is. Thank you

Hey,

No, to rebuild the entire gearbox with new clutch pack (power shift) and new solenoids with new macatronic is £1,900 including labour and V.A.T. As I had this recently done on my car. Any stories about 2.5-5k is a SCAM and needs to be avoided at all costs. I paid the HIGHER price to have it properly done. Anything more and they are ripping you off.

There are only two specialists who deal with the powershift in London that I know of. One is called ALL GEARS in Rainham, and the other is London Automatics in Dagenham, which is where I had mine sorted.

Hope this helps.
