Can't put my finger on it, but the colours are different somehow and I don't think quite as clear as they were before. It's not as clear when I glance at the time in the top centre. Also, I don't think they are quite as up to date as people might think. I have a roundabout close by which was converted to a traffic lights junction almost 2 years ago, and the maps still show it as a roundabout. I get the impression that it's normal for "new" maps to be anything up to 18 months old! Other than that, no noticeable difference in maps or navigation instructions.

There really should be OTA updates regularly from Ford. There’s no excuse not to. How difficult can it be? 

I already upgraded to 3.4 some time ago but the F9 maps have not yet been made available for download. In the Ford customer area he says I have a map update, but when I load it he says I have everything updated. In the car, if you connect to your home wifi, do the research but you can't find anything to download. I'm from Portugal. Do you know if it will take until it becomes available on the site itself? I know that there are maps for a user to download, I already downloaded them but if it didn't take long to be available on the ford website it would spread a lot.

To be honest Ford have no idea what is going on. Many forum members have been chasing them since last year and Ford cannot answer the simplest request on when it will be available to download. 
 

I would use the alexp999 download from this forum. 

Mine has been busy downloading on the drive and now has F9 but I dont think its complete for all of Europe yet.  Not been using the car much but it seems to have got this far on 4-5  half hour downloads after I got home.  Have to agree Ford are clueless when it comes to Sync and dont get me going on the Ford Pass app 🙂

I think i will wait 1 or 2 more weeks, if it does not appear, i will instal de alexp999, but don't upload the html file so when appears i will download again...

The alexp999 update link is exactly the same link that is offered via the Ford website. I was offered the map update via the Ford site. I can confirm it doescinclyde the European maps. I can't say what the OTA update provides.

The F9 maps are in the 1st two files. Downloaded very quickly OTA . I doubt very much if it’s the full euro maps . I’ve gone down the route ford uk suggested , I think I’ll send them a msg see if they can tell me if foreign maps are included. 
It’s downloading something just now but I’m not sure what.

I was wondering if the update via OTA WiFi may not have included the European maps as there appears to be less files than the Alexp999/Ford website F9 download files but it looks like at least France is OK.

Could you try a little further afield and type in Rome, Italy, Barcelona, Spain and then Dubrovnik, Croatia and see if they show.

They do on my current F7 maps. 👍

If there are less files in the WiFi OTA update I wonder what files could be missing ?

Also, could you please check after the update that you still hear the “Please Say A Command” prompt when you press the voice button on the steering wheel.

I think I read a previous post where it appeared to have stopped working after the update but I can’t remember the circumstances or which type of update.

Fair enough regarding you not ever having the “Please Say A Command” prompt.

I agree it’s not essential, it’s just that for me if that disappears after the update it’s possible that other voice commands could go.

Are you able to compare file names with alexp999 download? I’ll be surprised if they are different from OTA download.

As of today Siri is not giving me a chance to ask questions. It’s responding to the steering wheel button ,beeping Then straight back. Bluetooth music is working but can’t ask for songs etc

sync voice commands still working

A couple of weeks ago I was offered and successfully updated to sync 3.4 build 20136 via the Ford website.

However, I understand that there is a later build version 20196 that some people are on.

What differences are there in that version ?

Regarding the map update, although I have Alexp999 download files I am also being offered the F9 update via OTA WiFi but not via the Ford website.

I know Alexp999 files are a lot less of a hassle than the OTA WiFi option but I am just curious as to know if there are any differences in the downloaded files of each option.

I updated to 20196 on my Mondeo using the Cyanlabs method. There are some minor bug fixes, but the main change is a revised look to the media screen. The logos and info are on the right, and it looks much nicer. Hopefully it'll be an official release at some point. 

The moire effect isn't part of the new UI 🙂

Hello Everyone,

Just another update: 

After numerous tries by ford workshops at various dealers, door rattle problem which was mentioned in another thread on this forum couldn't be fixed. And eventually I gave up and traded the car in for a new Ford Puma. It was a factory order and picked up on Friday last week. Now everything is working fine on Sync 3 and it's all unto date. Only issue I'm having it activating Live traffic. When I go to my ford account it asks me to activate 2 year free trial and I go through the motion to activate it. Once I click confirm activation button nothing happens. I have to wait atleast 30 mins before logging in as it doesn't work during that time and it still says activate trial. Has anyone else had this issue on their cars.
