Some air con is still better than none at all in this weather lol, even though the Focus one isn't the best!!  Though I must admit, the more I've used it recently, the quicker it seems to cool down now, not sure if that's genuine or if I've just imagined it but either way it's good lol!

The Fiesta air con gas fall all fallen out again, so I only have the windows to open on that atm, turning up the blower fans just turbocharges hot air into my face...

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

@GMX Maize at my last job was 7ft and it didn't get harvested for another month when that one was measured, it's actually counter productive though as you want the energy to go into growing the corn, not the leaf and stalk as this is what you call lignin and cows can't digest it very well so it's a waste of time. But yes maize looks about half what it should be & you asking about 2009 if I remember correctly it was wet & naff and also wasn't that the year we had very bad snow but I remember all the silage crops being very wet & low on protein, well we had to buy a protected fat in to make up the energy that was missing from the silage

I do like (never thought I would ) caffeine free diet coke! I had to give up caffeine on the advice of the Dr some months ago now, I started off crabby now I'm fine, but I do miss 'brown' chocolate immensely

I do also like how my son is getting on with his lessons,  4 in now and he's used all 5 forward gears, learned traffic, roundabouts, turning right / left and traffic lights and hit a top speed of 68mph! He's got his heart set on a fiesta as well - ahhh I taught the lad well

I like a good food spread at a meeting, can't go wrong with mix matching sandwiches

I do like finding a pair of genuine Ford Aero roof bars for the c-track system in an almost unused condition, on ebay:smile:

So far, I have eaten 1½ watermelons, three kiwanos and a entire cucumber, during the course of the day, such is the heat and lack of wind here.  Tomorrow is is supposed to be hotter and more humid, so it might become a double watermelon day:laugh:

Wonder if police BMWs have indicators as standard?

On the watermelon front, I too enjoy them, in fact my wife and I ate nearly an entire watermelon in the supermarket carpark the other day.... Unfortunately that was less to do with the love of watermelons and more to do with the fact I dropped it as we walked across the car park.... Luckily all the flesh stayed the right way up....

I blame the wife anyway, who in their right mind would trust a husband to carry a blooming melon...or eggs, or glass etc....

They're probably fitted as options for the home office specification, like sirens, light bars, air con for K9 (in Clive's case) and police communicaton systems are.

Watermelons like eggs seem to have a strong side and weak side. Depending on which side it falls on, produces either cracked open split melon:mellow: or it bounces and rolls away from you:ohmy:

I suspect (or rather, fear!) that may be the suggestion of my doctor too, when I drag myself in to discuss my "issues".

Your son is doing very well, seems to be learning at the same pace as me.  Given that motorways are not permitted for learner drivers, I suspect the 68MPH instance wasn't strictly legal

Not that I can talk...  Lets just say, if I were driving a DeLorean I'd frequently go back to the future!! :wink3:

Lol there's a couple of dual carriageways down his way I think

Giving up caffeine IS harder than it sounds, but gold coke has gone from tasteless fizzy water to really nice lol, if you ever need someone to talk to though pm me x I bet my issues make yours feel better x

Today was boiling hot 30/31C by the temperature reading on the car, and the aircon struggled a bit :( Unless it's blowing in your face to cool you down, it struggles to cool down the car to a comfortable temperature. Not a problem with mine, it's just the Mk2.5 Focus never had great A/C, as evidenced by the numerous Aussies whining on Australian Ford forums, and if it struggles at 30C, imagine what it's like at 40C!

It supposed to be 34°C tomorrow, more if your in a big urban setting.

And then we quite quickly return to traditional British weather on Wednesday

Ah yes, I keep forgetting that the NSL is 70 on duals!  Obviously I don't forget whilst driving on them, but when thinking about it my brain can only correlate motorways with a 70 limit.

Nothing could ever replace "real coke" for me, I'm just too fussy.  Even Pepsi doesn't go down right, has to be the proper red Coca Cola. Full caffeine, full sugar (and full heart attack)!

I'll bear that in mind Laurie, thanks.

Oh Lord!  I'm already having hot flushes, so that'll be just great.

It's funny but I can say that I never drink coke... well very very very rarely drink it... maybe at the cinema once in a while...

Horrid stuff.

Owing to the overall stickiness and inability to sleep, Brandy and i decided to take her morning stroll at 5am, in the dark and relative cool, which was quite pleasant.

We weren't the only ones, virtually all the dogs we usually see later, plus some dogs we've never seen, were doing it too!  Everyone had the same idea, take the dog out before it get too hot

The thermometer on the garage wall was 27°C when we returned  at 6:30am ish

I find the commercial drinks including coke far too sweet as I've got older:mellow:, and the Aspartame and Acesulfame K, seem even sweeter than the sugared ones:ohmy:

Coke is great for removing rust though:laugh:

There was a chap in volvo owners club who used buy litres of Lidl  and Aldi own brand coke  whenever he had a rusty component he wanted to clean up.  His wife was less than happy when she found the bath full of coke with rusty bits of Volvo having a soak overnight.

 I should think so too. What does it do to the enamel or plastic! And coke is a rather expensive rust remover. It contains a very small amount of phosphoric acid, which can be bought much cheaper as 81% concentrate, sold for hydroponic plant growing.

Phosphoric acid converts that nasty unstable mess of Ferrous & Ferric, Oxides & Hydroxides in various hydration states, that we call rust, into more stable phosphates. This creates a passivation layer that can be painted, or just oiled or waxed. Even if just left exposed, it is much better than flaky rust. I dilute the 81% concentrate down to 24% (the same as Jenolite). Then it gets liberally applied to garden ironwork, and to rusty underparts of the car. Sometimes it leaves a white stain, but this washes or rubs off, and goes away if oiled or painted.

(I would avoid using it (or any acid) on springs: It can initiate hydrogen embrittlement, eventually weakening the spring.sad.png)

I have never taken to drinking the stuff (Coke, I mean, not 24% Phosphoric acid!), my favorite poisons are beer, wine,  & coffee.

Talking about health benefits (or not), I find those coloured advice boxes we now see, rather useful. I look for the ones all bright red, perhaps with one yellow one, then I know the item will be really yummy. Chocolate caramel slices score pretty high. Add some clotted cream, and it is just perfect! Dot a few fresh raspberries or other fresh fruit on top, and it counts as one of your "five a day" too!:unsure:biggrin.png

We've acquired a fairly stiff breeze, or least the upper part of the house has:smile:  Downstairs has a oven like quality

In fact it's getting a bit blustery in the office:laugh:  Papers flying of the desk and being propelled towards Brandy on the floor:huh:

The overall gustiness of the wind makes up for the fact, it's a bit of a sirocco.

I believe the bath wore a pain brown stain for quite a while afterwards.

As chocolate is made from the processed seed of the fruit, of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao).  Technically you could argue, it's two of your "five a day" or three, if you contend the flour of the cake/pastry part was made from the fruit of the wheat plant.

On a day like today, I love the walk in chiller at work!

Yet another chilled watermelon from the fridge:smile:

Judging by all the empties in my office recycling bin, I also appear to have drunk 5 litres of Tesco sparkling water with a hint of fruit juice, over the course of the day.

That is an ideal thing to have at work, I would imagine the whole of FOC is jealous

Lol, I've been borrowing various shops AC today, as the Focus AC really couldn't cope even with fans on number 4 and blowers on face...actually resorted to both windows down at 70 in the end.  Next's AC was easily the best, followed by Tesco...   The Range however didn't appear to have any AC on, pretty sure people were passing out from heat exhaustion in there lol.

Surely the cool from walking into the chiller in Domi's is soon taken over by the heat from the ovens when you leave lol?

Last minute boating session with Cadets.

Got bored, so I jumped in...water was lovely and warm!!

This first courgettes freshly picked from my 'Midnight' variety bush, sautéed in olive oil:smile:

If you're borrowing AC, Barclays is to be recommended, it's like a curtain of cool descending on you as you enter.

Whereas Nationwide seemed to have the confused AC with central heating: leaving both their staff and customers sweltering and swooning.  It was relief to get back outside to 30°C

Haha, I walked into the walk in chiller at the wholesalers the other day, I felt like I could have lived in there.... only problem was coming out of it and the hot felt even hotter...

Getting 'sprayed' by a very wet Brandy as she shook vigorously, following a romp in a spring fed woodland stream on her morning walk:smile:

My last ice cold watermelon from the fridge:smile:

The blueberries are ready again for harvesting, looks to be twice as much as last time:smile:

When a lab technician whom job consits of mixing chemicals to perfection daily.

Bakes a cake and brings it in to work to show some skills 😁

I'm like WTF why are people surprised that it's good

I do like checking my tyres to find that I still have another couple of thousand miles left before replacement is necessary.  I was getting worried that I'd need to do them this month, which would stretch my finances and result in only being able to buy budget tyres.  If I do it next month I can splash out a bit and go for some better quality tyres to last a few years.  Looking at the options, Toyo Proxes CF2 seem like the best choice.
