Things I do like

Featured Replies

Whilst not as much as her weekend morning walks, I gathered £11.17 of loose change on the pavement outside the various takeaways, consisting of a disproportionate amount of 20ps:smile:  Which is handy for the local NCP car park, for reasons known only to NCP, all their rates are in multiples of 20p.

I thought we might come across the new Mustang, I've heard and fleetingly seen; as we were around where Corfe Mullen, Merley and Broadstone merge. However, the drives up there are bit too long and have extensive shrubbery to see what might parked outside. Although on a shrub free and somewhat featureless courtyard type drive, I did see an odd coloured Ferrari, in what can only be described as duck egg blue:ohmy:, it must have been resprayed, perhaps to match the owner's wallpaper/bathroom suite:laugh:

It was a tad surreal walking down the A349 where they're rebuilding it, it's closed to vehicles but not pedestrians, dogs, horses and cyclists.  We were the only ones on it at 6:30am, even the contractors were missing, normally it's only the wee hours when it's largely traffic free.

You're going to have to start making large batches of spaghetti bolognese, chili con carne (or chili con lentils works for no meat monday..), errrm what else?

I used tinned toms quite a lot in cooking... I'll make a sort of spicy tomato based chicken with olives and spices and rice - kind of a spanishy type dish... patatas bravas is another one.... I also make a chickpea tomato curry thing with lemon, or lime...

Wifey makes a lovely roast tomato and red pepper soup - has vodka and a heck of a lot of lea and perrins in it, highly recommend that for using up toms!

Some good ideas there Ian:smile:

Last year, which was was not an outstanding tomato year, it was just over 57 kilos (from memory), but on a good year I have ended up with over 100 kilos:eek:

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Whilst I ate tonight's tomatoes, I  watched Supervet on Channel 4+1,showing state of the art pioneer veterinary medicine, They used 3D printing and 3D milling to give lame terrier a new hinged elbow joints and made bespoke implant for a Cavalier King Charles spaniel with a cancerous brain tumour.  Very impressive:smile:

I do like having internet again!  Had to drive 140 miles to get the replacement router, but it was still quicker than waiting for delivery.

I like that after ringing local Ford dealer just for some repairs, I came off the phone with repairs booked as well as a test drive in an RS when picking my car up. And on the same week as my birthday too lol.

Sent from the pub with a pint in the other hand.

Potentially possibly getting my car today, waiting for insurance company engineer

I do like that Brandy seemed to have forgotten she is an older dog and has rediscovered her inner puppy on this morning's walk, bouncing and running about like she used to:smile:.

I do like that I AM getting my car today!

Insurance chap approved everything on my old TX

I DO like the look of the new 5.0 litre mustang in Metal Magnetic (I think it's called)

The car looked as it should. Mean. Best colour by far for that car.

I do like being able to sample the new Italiano range at work :)

I have indeed!

5hr journey there and back thanks to massive delays with trains and on A roads / motorway, but it's now sitting proud on the driveway.

Detailing I had planned for today is now going to have to wait until tomorrow though

Stay away from lorries 😉

I like, I applied for a new job, interview on Wednesday, rang me up today & references depending I start 5th of september( handed my notice in for the 31st of August, which is a Wednesday) 5th is Monday.  Also like I'm driving a Rolls Royce tractor(Fendt) tomorrow for the in law.  (see my post in the don't like thread)

Having forgotten to buy more tuna, I had to "borrow" a few sardines from Brandy's stash, for my tuna and onion pasta, it worked far better than I thought it was going to:smile:  Nice enough to repeat for future, even if they are a bit fiddly to trim and gut.

5hrs!!! :shocking: I thought our congestion across the conurbation was bad enough

Will there be before and after pics of the detailing of the ST?

Well done Matt:smile:

Are you staying with cows or in different branch of farming?

Sounds like my trip to get the GTX, although I suspect the trip back in the Fiesta was rather more comfortable and less worrisome than mine in a dodgy Peugeot with a dead battery

Branching off into organic root crops.  2000 acres of them, so if you buy organic veg from, Tescos, Sainsburys, Asda, Waitrose & somewhere else I can't remember.  Chances are we've produced it.  Fed up of doing cows at the moment and wanted a change, was really surprised when he said they're offering me a position.  Just hope I get good references now

It's hardly any wonder people don't use public transport outside of London is it? Even the bus from home to the train station took an hr! Been quicker to walk in I think.

There will be lots of pics of the car tomorrow  (today?), unfortunately no befores as the dealer washed all the muck and transport residue off already. Watch this space.

The trip back was glorious! Despite having cars up my backside and a lil boy racer in his 53 plate souped up vauxhall astra  I felt more comfortable to be able to ignore them in this car tbh.

How's the first few days of driving solo as it were treating you? I bet the independence it's given you is wonderful!

There are a lot of modified 53-plate Vauxhalls in my area.  You can easily notice them as they are always the cars overtaking right before a blind bend and "cruising" around town with the windows down (even in heavy rain) and terrible music booming out.  Not to sound like a snob, but there's no class whatsoever!

Yeah it's fine, no different than before really, only I don't have to put up with my mother!  The best thing is having no L-plates and therefore being treated like a normal driver.  God I hated those things.

I've spent the past 3hrs (yes i started at 6am) doing something I love doing.... detailing the car, nearly halfway through now, just waiting for the wax to cure so I can Buff it off.

So far I've, snow foamed, 3 bucket washed, fallout cleansed, clayed and polished the car...

Still to do whole interior, the wheels and exhaust (it's S/S), and finishing the waxing, was going to glaze it, but decided not to as Polish brightened paint enough

So far this is the shine

Gotta be a vauxhall thing then, how funny they all chose 53 plates lol! Agree 100% though no class at all, all that effort to try and get their exhaust to sound like mine does naturally as well

I hope you had a L plate burning ceremony? They are like red rags to a bull with some drivers, I really don't understand it. Same goes for P plates

  I must admit, I did that in the Mk6 ST the other day, wanted to see how it compared to the newer one, road was clear and conditions were good, other one was a 14 plate so not running in...but they wouldn't humour me haha!

It's significantly hotter and summery today, in fact the sudden onset of heat woke me up at 4:50am.  So, Brandy and i embarked on her extended walk at 5:30, from which we've now returned.  From outside the takeaways on the pavement, I picked up £25.17  whilst restraining Brandy from picking up a discarded family bucket of chicken pieces:ohmy: and then a kebab:mellow:

We are no nearer finding the new red Mustang, that i heard and fleetingly saw a couple of days ago, but we did see a nice black Mk6 Fiesta ST on the A31 heading west, as we walked across the cow bridge (a specially erected bridge for cows, the A31 dissects the dairy farm).  Which is also used by the local horsey types and local dogs, when the cows aren't using the two connected fields.

Not sure if the others do, but Tesco put a photo of the farmer who grew the crop on the wrappers, you might find yourself being asked to posie for photo with the carrots etc:laugh:

When i was working out the best way to collect my Mk2 Focus last year, which was only 108 miles away, in a village quite close to Hereford, a 2½-3 hours drive, public transport proved to be such a long-winded and time consuming method.

Trainline's suggested "express route but with many changes" would have taken 9 hours and bizarrely it's "convenient less than 3 changes route" would have involved staying overnight at Cardiff train station:shocking:  and taking 15 hours; both routes involved a lot of zig-zagging around the country.  Of course, the bus timetables didn't coincide very well with the train times, so there was couple of hours tacked on to each end of Trainline's suggested routes:wallbash: and then there was Brandy's loo needs to consider.  What is the protocol on a train when your dog needs the loo?

That's a Corsa but also a BMW and Audi driver speciality down here, The Corsas however, indicate as they're doing it more than their German counterparts
