Things I do like

Featured Replies

@TomsFocus @dtulip8 I actually probably would love to get the petrol one and swap the bits over but I am mainly looking at the maintenance costs. I'd probably would loved to get a yellow anniversary or green celebration if they are within budget. The problem is I don't think my parents will be able to chip in towards the next car so the money I get from selling the car and the money I have saved probably may be just to get that Peugeot 107.

The pug was a nice car to drive and had some sporty vibes to it. Do actually would want to get a petrol again as it sounds so much better plus when you start up a petrol with your foot a little down on the accelerater the revs go up but slowly go back down not as fast compared to it already running 🤣

Also I'm at the point in my life where I'm probably getting near the end of education and going to start working. I'd be grateful if I get that job I really want to get into however the competition worries me a little.

Also wish me luck as I have an exam today 😬

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

I found a couple of yellow ones for sub 2k on AutoTrader. Good luck with your exam as well!

EDIT:

This yellow one looks decent and isn’t too far from me either!

Buy the right car and it won't need any maintenance!   You're not going to be wearing out tyres and brakes lol!  Also make sure cambelt and ideally clutch have been done too.  As I've said before, the Golf hasn't needed any maintenance in 18 months so far...but I've bought other cars that have needed parts within a week!

Good luck with the exam!

Is that a Gas or kerosene boiler?

It's natural gas thankfully!

We've had the same boiler (Baxi) getting on for 30 years and only had an engineer to it twice, and then all they needed to do was vac out a bit of ash that was obstructing the burner.

Was reading the other day that from 2025 it is proposed that all new domestic boilers must be capable of conversion to run on hydrogen. Sounds worrying - but if it's ok to be used in the house and can be produced in sufficient quantities, what's the problem with using it in cars instead of batteries, I wonder!

That's promising, we had a Baxi years ago and it was far from reliable, but that was one made in around 2004 so yours must be made better.

Yes I read that also and I'd take it with a pinch of salt.  It's like back in 2005 they said they'd stop selling petrol and diesel cars in 2010 and then in 2010 they said it would stop in 2015 etc...  Needless to say petrol/diesel cars and gas boilers WILL be phased out one day but not in the next 5 years.  Maybe 50 years but not 5!!

Yes, funnily enough we know a guy who is a retired Baxi engineer who worked for them when the factory was near Burnley. He reckoned the modern ones (ie 21st century) are not very good but said our old one was worth hanging on to as long as possible!

That would make sense then!  I'm hoping my Ideal (fitted 2011) will keep going for another 10-15 years, considering they are still selling my model you wouldn't expect parts to go out of production for at least 15 years.

We ran out of oil a few days after moving in to our house, the heating engineer we called told us exactly the same thing. The boiler won't be as economical as the new ones but it'll last a lot longer.

Our boiler is 20+ years old and, as far as he could see, all original. He told me stories of new boilers failing within 2 or 3 years!

Yes, happened to my late parents - 2 boilers in a row failed almost as soon as the warranty ended.

Ouch!

One of the stories he came with, some major part of the boiler (exchange unit?) split the week after the warranty was up. Owner tried to weld it! Called engineer (who sold the boiler in the first place) who told them that if they had called him first he 'might'  have been able to get it renewed under warranty.

Surely this must be the latest registered MK2?!

Self-same thing happened to one of my parents' boilers (can't remember what make). Their installer tried to get it replaced foc as it was only just out of warranty but they were having none of it. The installer replaced it with a new one at cost price to him, and did the work foc, as he said he felt guilty for recommending that make of boiler in the first place, which I think was pretty decent of him.

@TomsFocus @dtulip8 exam went well yesterday so really happy with that 😁. Just now hoping I do well in the application and appitude test for the training I want to go into. If I do well I'll hopefully get an interview.

That's not bad to be honest on that anniversary. Again just comes down to what happens. Yeah all cars are different in terms of maintenance. I paid around £300 for getting the injectors reconditioned and other parts like injector seats, glow plugs etc but since then mechanically the car has been great. Only problem is the AC pipe split just after the condenser so no AC plus the wheels on these cars aren't great as they buckle.

That’s good, I’m sure you’ve done well 😁. Like you say, any car can have its issues at any moment, and it’s nice to have a car that you know is mechanically sound.

Blimey, haven't seen another Mk2 ST that late!  I reckon it was a proper bargain at the time to make someone choose it over a facelift!! 😮 Surprised it didn't rust away in the compound...

Nice one!

I've just started playing CoD MW online...did you ever get it?  I don't really know how the cross platform works though!

I've seen quite a few vehicles that have been parked up 18 months or more.

@TomsFocus I've seen a lot of hate towards the game in which mainly there's skill based matchmaking 😂. Don't really have time to play with how busy this course is. Felt like it's mentally exhausting.

I do like that two of my cats are seemingly also snooker fans!

A taste of the beading characteristics of Angelwax H2GO. Put two coats of it on the rear glass of my dad's car

Following on from my recent Don't like post.......

I like that by mid day 13th I will be a smug driver of my new Mk4 ST. [emoji41]

Photos of a very smug [emoji57] face and the new toy to follow...

Depending on what I can transfer from one car to another I may also have a couple of bits for sale.

Watch this space.

What I want to know is whether they are available for the mk4 Focus yet?

@Zico @TimST2 think you both should get it. Really like that you can switch between it being sequential or just solid though would be annoying having to remove the mirror cover etc again to get to the switch. Think the glass would complement black paint.

Skill based matchmaking is ideal for people like me that are terrible at the game!

I do like sequential indicators...but £50!? 😮
