Hi, I’ve recently purchased a XR3I and am having various issues with it, 

One I’m struggling to find parts and 2 I need a good garage to carry out the work

so far I’ve spent £680 with a private individual to get it mot ready

Then spent another £840 on the mot itself

Ive replaced the hood, I’ve had all new brakes fitted, I’ve had a new radiator fitted, 

Does anyone know where to get a new roof cable from?

Can you get a new fuse board for them and if so where to go?

I feel like because I have an old car the Garage’s feel like they can charge heaven and earth, I even watched one garage doctor the invoice in front of me and still had the audacity to charge me the doctored amount, I paid the amount because I wanted my car returned and couldn’t prove they’ve doctored the receipt other than seeing them so it,

so frustrating if anyone can help or point in the right direction it would be appreciated

A MKIV Escort is a very basic, easy peasy car to work on.

Get some basic tools and equipment and a Haynes manual and learn to do jobs yourself.

Save you getting ripped off

You will probably have to have a cable made for the roof

Search eBay and join the groups on Facebook or join the clubs and put what you are after, they'll always be someone with parts.

Wheeler Dealers did a mild resto on an XR3i cabriolet. You'll probably learn little from it, but quite entertaining to watch... (S18, Ep1) You need to find your own, 'Elvis'!
