My car is early 2023 also, surely Ford should have recalled these models and fixed the update issue.

Oh god, that sounds horrible. I hope it gets resolved asap.

I'm happy to confirm that after the dealer updated the APIM, the car is doing OTA updates again. Last night, the 6.1.0 update was installed.
(Supprised that the updates were not included in the APIM update)

Well, got a call today that my car was finally equipped with the new APIM.
I asked if the most recent update was installed and they answered Yes.
After picking the car and connecting to my home wifi I am quite disappointed.
Yes, i do have a newer version but new updates are not being received.
I have my car on a charger to make sure the battery is full and doing a search for new updates states there are no new updates.
The version is
24145_Product
Revision: 1286

I am always told that being a OTA system they cannot manually update anything.

So if i may ask, what did the dealer do to get the newer update on your system?
Would it be possible for you to get that infomation?

What are the latest updates 🤔 I currently have 24145/1286

They told me that’s what their system offered as latest update.

OTA updates only started to appear a couple days after I visited the dealer and without WiFi/charger connected.

Thank you very much for the info.

It seems you have newer hardware than what they just replaced in my car.

My ST Line X has had 1 update as pictured. Registered Feb 23, I bought from a dealer in Sept 23, this update appeared a short time later and nothing since. I have had a new APiM, I think, as there was an issue with the charging system briefly which resolved, but they changed a few of the components shortly after at its annual service. It seems to be working OK, but part of the reason for buying the car was the over the air Sync 4 updates, I presumed would be on a regular basis.

You said that you got the updates with no wifi setup?
Everywhere i read you need Wifi to get the Sync updates so I am confused as to how your Sync system got the updates.
Or am i missing something?

Do you know if the System they used was FDRS software?
Would you be able to find out how the dealer could see that there was an update for your system?

Update was done on Thursday, 19th. Car was parked with WiFi coverage until Friday, 20th in the evening (update was not showing up in Sync update dialog). After that, car was parked in a garage without WiFi coverage and bad LTE coverage overnights, during the day in a parking lot with better reception. 6.1.0 update was done on Monday, 23rd.

Now I'm waiting for 6.2.0 to download but car battery is down to 60% and I don't have an outlet for charging near the car.

I'm assuiming that everything was done through FDRS as it was an official Ford dealer.

Thank for the info.
My problem just got more worse. The battery is somehow now getting drained as it lasts maybe 1,5 - 2 days. The app notifies that Remote functions are unavailable to save battery. Something i certainly did not have before the APIM swap.

This is getting so rediculous.

Problem is that battery get drained by glovebox switcher which is not turned off. I had same problem, also mk4. Fixed same problem with sync 4 not updating cuz of power saving modes to my friend with mk4.5 and myself also.

Thanks for the info but I was already aware of the glovebox light and fixed that somewhere at the end of last year.
Even when i check Update Details it show not version installed.

So sorry for the question, but what is indeed the latest update?

The car did all OTA updates (6.1.0, 6.2.0, 6.4.0, SYNC-24.2.0.13) and now Sync 4 got downgraded to 24145_PRODUCT Revision 1286... 🤦‍♂️

What?
The update sequence you had I was very jealous of.
My car also has the update (after APIM replacement and Ford stating they had to write new software for my car) your car now has.
What is going on with the SYNC 4 system?

I am curious as to what your SYNC 4 system states when you go to Update Details?
Mine shows nothing on this version:

But the older version stated:

Good evening all.
I want to address some of the comments and updates on here regarding the Ford Focus Sync 4 version.
If you do want a full update, the please refer to page 16.

So the first thing
Sync 4 version 24145_PRODUCT Revision 1286 is the latest for 99% of Ford Focus's

Before anyone asks, they may be an alternate version that a few people may have, but this is not available to 99% of cars at present and there is no expected delivery time frame just yet
24145 if you didn't know means
24 = Year of build
145 = Day of the build in the year.

24145 is stable with limited issues.
Ford Dealers can also currently see 24145.

If you are on a previous update prior to 24145, then the sequence is as below.
(6.1.0, 6.2.0, 6.4.0)
Please refer to Page 16 for a full in-depth overview, update on this.

Update SYNC-24.2.0.13 is not a downgrade,
Ford have 2 naming conventions for updates.
24.2.0.13 is a package number and not a revision. So when the download comes down, its shown as this, which is a folder package delivery number and not the revision of the update

Sync 4, 24145_PRODUCT Revision 1286 is the latest version, confirmed on 7th March 2026 to most.

Note
If you are on an older version and you have checked for software updates and not being presented to you
Then please write to Ford UK customer care if your in the UK.

You will need to give them the reason or faults you are having and that your car is not being presented with the latest updates.
Ford UK will then contact Ford Sync team on your behalf and check why.

They will need the VIN and Reg, They may also ask for proof of ownership, like the V5C. For any one outside the UK, you will need to contact your local Ford Customer care head office.

Reasons why Ford Sync is not being delivered:
1) Updates are switched off
2) You are not registered with Ford app (This isn't normally a requirement)
3) When setting up Ford Sync in the car, you have deactivated all the communications back to Ford when asked to confirm if you would like the car to communicate and send anonymous feedback back
4) You may be already on a newer version.
5) Your car battery is below the capacity for Ford Sync to update
6) Your not connected to your Home WIFI
7) You have not set an requirement for the car to check periodically each week for the update.

Ford Focus update 25255
No release notes on this, but this would indicate that it was
Year 25
255 would be September 12th.

The above if it is going to be released will be done in batches when VINS are uploaded.
If a fault was found when uploading, the update would be halted.
This is not to indicate that the update is faulty, but more that system when Sync communicates to may be.

Ford Focus generally receives an update once a year about Nov time, but schedules change and so do updates.

What is changing

If you have Apple Car play, you may now notice a new Ford App that has appeared (If you have the Ford App installed on your iPhone)
New Features are coming soon regarding the app in Apple CarPlay, But I currently don't know what.

Regarding Version 25255. If I hear anything, I will let you know.

But if you have 24145 and no further updates are being presented, then this is the latest version for you

Thanks

But SYNC-24.2.0.13 did indeed downgrade at least parts of my system.

I had 25255 installed at the dealership which caused all the OTA updates to be downloaded/ installed. (Did not install before, car was stuck in older version)

And after that, the version in the info screen went down/was downgraded to 24145.

I’m no disputing what version of software you have as I do believe that normally by now ford has released a newer version, as mention once a year.

it is possible and this does happen, ford system may have shown the car the version to install, which has happened to me.

All I can advise at present that the current version I know is still 24145, which was released in year 24 on the 145th date.

Version 24145 by the way was a complete re write on Sync 4 with 3 main updates and replaced the previous version due to big problems with maps, freezing, Bluetooth issues and much more.

Version 24145 is very stable and has little issues I’m aware of.

Is people having issues with it?

Extremely scary if I’m honest.

The biggest problem is I think, units are not always pre set for the updates or sync is not in great 4G areas / connected to WiFi.

Ford have also with me included had battery issues. If the battery is t in a good state, sync will refuse to update to protect it self and rightly so.

It’s a shame as Sync is a decent platform as such.some other manufacturers have good and some ok. I’ve used many and prefer sync especially for hvac, all be it i still like buttons my self.

When that happens try to press volumen down and hung up buttons for about 10 seconds and SYNC will restart.

For the 2 year inspection, rather that "only" telling them all the problems make them try and drive your car. I made a list of everything falling –about 30, 8 pages‐ and they sat for hours with me and saw the problems themselves.

Is not new SYNC fails, so they'll manage to "force" an update.
