What sort of economy are you getting with your MR165 kit? Also, is it worth the money? I fear that it's too much power as the front end is so light?

Considering an ST with the MR upgrade has another 65 PS I wouldn't worry lol. That's what traction control is for :)

The black does get some very admiring glances. Can anyone comment on ford keeping the 0-60 time respectable to keep insurance down ? 140bhp in this car is easy sub 9. 3/4/5th gear performance is effortless.

I have heard this buzzing around a few forums. Ford from what I have heard, have been very conservative in the claimed figures for the black and red. Not only to help with insurance etc but also to shine more light on the ST model. A fiat 500 Abarth is 135 bhp yet that manages 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. I would assume based on weight, torque and power the black sits between fords claimed figures and that of the abarths. I would say between 8.3-8.6 to 60?

Isn't it 0-62 in 9.0 secs?

Therefore 0-60 would be under 9.

Not sure how much it matters anyway, If you like the power of it then great. I find you need to get it just right to really take off & would personally like it to be a little quicker, but for an all round car its great.

Competed at Goodwood last weekend.. it's a fast circuit (average over 80mph for the lap, and that's from a standing start). Car pulls really well in 3rd and 4th.. found myself running out of 4th!

Vid here (not the perfect lap):

I don't think our little fords are faster than abarths. Not in their stock form.

My new mountune intercooler is here and waits for me at the dealer. Couldn't wait too much so I went and took a look. It is very lightweight, hope it does its job well :D Tomorrow I will install it. Along with my cooler an MR165 kit came as well, which belongs to my friend. So the excitement is double !

I just hope I won't regret choosing another company for a remap... Will be taking them to face each other down a straight line pretty soon.

Willy, you said you installed the kit without the remap to see what the hardware does alone. And you said it was more torquy if I remember correct. Did you notice or have you in general, noticed and kind of turbo lag? Or did the cooler managed to eliminate it? Sorry if I my post is kind of hard to understand :P

The difference with the hardware fitted was minimal and could just be a placebo effect. The turbo lag is definitely less with the map and hardware installed.

The noise you get when driving the car hard is addictive, but not as much as the power the little 1 litre engine gives you.

There was a small collection of Fiestas at the Castle Combe sprint today. Really enjoyed the day, but think that Eibach springs would make a significant difference on track.

Nice one. My mate took me round there in his Caterham a few weeks ago and I was seriously thinking about having a go in my Red in the future. How do the brakes hold up? Also I know the surface at Castle Coombe is relatively recently laid. Got much tread left on your tyres?

No problem with brakes or tyres at a sprint event. New surface at Combe is definitely quick!

Sounds good. Definitely felt quick from the passenger seat of a Caterham. Will be having a look at their next dates and may well have a few laps. I know they do tuition as well, I may do that as I've never driven on a track before.

Tution is the best thing you can do.. makes a massive difference. Fiesta will be just fine on track, a very good car for begineers.

Thanks for the advice. What do you do about insurance? Think my mate has a separate track day policy but not sure who from.

I make sure that I don't crash and I'm cautious as necessary! But the likes of Adrian Flux should be able to sort it.

:-). The Red is my everyday car so think I might need to sort myself something out. Cheers for the heads up on Adrian Flux.

You'll need proper specialist track day insurance, google it.

Had a look and there are a few specialist insurers. Not too pricey either. Definitely got me thinking.

Back at Wiscombe Park hillclimb today. A bit outclassed by modified competition, and just 0.05 of my PB.. but still great fun to drive.

Hmm I'm not sure you know !

I was on my favourite stretch of road the other day and an Abarth came right up my chuff - so I thought well this will be interesting expecting it to have more go but it couldn't keep up and I'm pretty sure he was trying !

Are you talking about this Punto Abarth, with over 180 HP and a 0-100 (0-62 MPH) time of under 7 seconds: http://www.abarthcars.co.uk/Site/uk/AbarthPuntoSupersport ??

Don't exaggerate. Our Red/Black Edititions are good cars, but can't keep up with the likes of the Abarth above!
