Things I Don't Like

Don't like that my watch stopped 3 days ago...  But I feel naked without it so have been wearing it ever since...  At least it's right twice a day.

I also don't like that there are 5 'local' Timpsons shops...but none of which in the town I'll be in for a few hours on Monday.

Is it Quartz or mechanical?  I've been wearing a 1950s Relide that I bought on eBay for a few pounds on an auction back in 2014 listed as "spares/repairs".  It has never let me down in the two years I've had it.  You can't beat the older models!

I like my G-Shock watch lol

Solar panel built in too :D

I guess it's Quartz?  I have no idea lol.  It's an Accurist with the 3 useless tiny clocks in the background if that helps...  I've worn it every day for the last 12+ years and it takes a lot of abuse doing manual tasks (gardening, car work etc).  Seems to go through batteries roughly every 18-24 months now though, maybe they just use cheaper batteries now, but the latest one has a 'lifetime' guarantee apparently.

I asked as Quartz is battery powered and normally you can change the battery yourself without the need to pay a jeweler for a 50p battery.

Ah I see.  Tbh I probably would've tried doing it myself (tools on ebay for removing the back) but as it's under warranty I'm assuming I won't have to pay this time anyway.  Just a bit of an inconvenience having to hang around in town waiting for it when I've no other reason to be there.

If it will be free then I'd take advantage of that too - it is irritating having to wait around though.

That turned out to be less eventful than expected...  Walked in and showed the guarantee, the guy swapped the battery there and then in about 5 minutes lol.

One of those extremely rare times when something doesn't go as badly as I expect.

The hangover from my wedding.  And now the 3-4 hour journey to London for 1 night

This week. Started off with some utter !Removed! hitting my car in Morrison's car park. Fortunately he admitted full responsibility for it and the Focus was still drivable.

Had my Grandma's funeral yesterday which was (obviously) a very tough day. Got a stone chip on the windscreen of the Focus on the way home.

Focus was taken away today for repairs, expecting a Toyota Avensis as a courtesy car. Nope, ended up with a Hyundai Tuscan which is horrible to drive.

It wasnt my dad was it in morrisons carpark? He is a nightmare in morrisons and tescos carparks, he comes out of them with a dent and scratch quite often, even the rear parking sensors are damaged. He says its not him, I beg to differ!!

I don't like catch 22s.  I hate seeing the Hyundai just sitting at the door not being used, but I also hate using it and only getting 25MPG...

Does he drive a black Jag and have very poor eyesight and reaction times?

Another thing I don't like, people who don't put their trollies away at the supermarket. Just been to Tesco and there were two sat in the middle of the road. It's not difficult to do, even if I'm on my own with both of the girls I always put mine back.

Hyundai Tucson? Wow, you must feel quite high up. :) Not that bad surely? But I agree that it's handling characteristic is probably not as 'sporty' as the Focus.

At least you didn't end up with a Poxhaul!

Surely you must have anticipated that, when buying such a large and large engined car?

If it's any consolation for you, I'm currently getting "only" around 33 MPG from a 1.6.

he got poor eyesight and slow reactions, but no jag anymore(did have a few years ago) a little suzuki swift now, and still a nightmare. its blue so if you see it at morrisons, dont park anywhere near. but if you see a red focus estate there, feel free to bounce your car off that one( ex wife works there)

The handling reminds me of the Corsa I learned in (a 63 plate). The throttle is one of those one's that's hinged at the bottom which I don't like. I believe the engine may have been taken from a tractor and the car is just too big for my liking.

On the plus side though, it has DAB so I can listen to Planet Rock. You can even turn the stereo up loud enough to hide the horrific noise the engine makes :)

Oh I knew exactly what it would be like and to be honest I don't mind spending the money on fuel, just having a moan

How the heck is a 1.6 only returning 33MPG!?

I mean no detriment to your father in saying this, but that's one of the reasons I do think that those over 60 should have to undergo (at the very least) a "mini driving test", if you will, where their perception and ability to do an emergency stop is tested.  I've seen quite a few elderly drivers who give drink drivers a run for their money in terms of crossing center lines and late braking etc...

Just to balance the argument though, so it doesn't sound like I'm slating elderly people, young drivers should also have to undergo some sort of "follow up test" 12 months after passing their initial test to prove that they haven't forgotten everything they learned and started driving like :censored: idiots.  Just today on a main road a Peugeot 106 (the usual lowered suspension and cheap alloys) zoomed past us when there was a van quite clearly coming in the other direction, and he only managed to get in just before it went past.  You know the best bit?  500 yards down the road there was a PASSING LANE.  Complete and utter !Removed!.

i agree, his eyesight is checked every year as requested by dvla, but any driving abilty is not. my mum has had her licence taken off her due to eyesight concern

i see quite alot of cars that have been battered by elderly drivers, with not a straight panel on the cars.

Yeah, the Hyundai looks a bit like that (every panel on the N/S has a scratch, dent or missing trim) but only it was driven by a middle-aged woman, so no excuses other than being a bad driver!!

The first guy in my year passing his driving test! Passed first time, although he should do his dad is a driving instructor!

He's getting a 6 month old Fiesta Titanium...only slightly jealous! Maybe he got a good deal as his dad has a 16 plate learners car...

At Least my Focus will be bigger!

Constant start/stop traffic. On a Sunday, my journey to work would only take 30 mins (timed it), but yesterday it took a record 80 mins. (Normally it's 50-60 mins).

On a motorway run, it returns 40-45 MPG, depending on how heavy your foot is.

Ah, I see.  Is it a petrol or diesel?  Petrol engines seem to use more fuel when idling than diesels which can sit there and pretty much just run on air.

Petrol. It would have to be almost a V6 diesel (or a pretty big diesel) to "only" get 40 MPG on the motorway. :)
