Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

Don't like that our poor doggy tore a claw whilst clowning around up on Plymouth Hoe. Started limping so I looked only to see blood pouring out of her foot, ended up down my arm, clothes etc, lucky got her to the vet who sorted it.

Need to sort out our own first aid kit just in case it happens further away from a vet or later at night. Anyone got any hints?

I don't like that being that busy I've not had time for anything else outside, despite delegating extensively:sad:  Just to try and fit it all in, for the past fortnight or so, I have survived on less than 3 hours sleep a night, had perpetual sleep deprivation during the waking hours and have kept forgetting to eat.  Only to find I'm somewhat hungry just as I'm about to get my "3 hour snooze", and as I don't like to eat moments before sleeping:  I go to bed hungry:sad:

I also don't like that in the middle of this busy-ness, on a fantastically busy Sunday evening hedging towards an obsene manic Monday: Storm Katie called, flattened two of my fence panels  and cleanly snapped a fence post.  Naturally, Screwfix had sold out of fencing repair spikes and fence clips by Monday afternoon:sad:  Apparently all of Dorset had broken fences:ohmy:

Due to Brandy liking to wander about in the garden, I couldn't leave the fence panels down for long. I had to order online from Screwfix to  get next day delivery.  Because it was Parcelforce doing the delivery, I'd assumed it would come about lunchtime. The couriers seem to favour "about lunchtime"

Ooh no, this proved to be incorrect, Parcelforce sent a text in the middle of Brandy's morning stroll, that they would be delivering my Screwfix order in the next hour.  Brandy and I were more than an hours walk away:unsure: taking in sniffing time, re-sniffing time and greeting fellow dogs time; as well as strolling time.  Of course, as we got back, the tell-tale "We were unable to deliver your parcel card was in the letter box"  Although the time given on the card was only 8 minutes before we'd arrived home.  I phoned them to see if it was still on the van,  he'd still be quite local, if it was only 8 minutes ago. Apparently not, he'd dropped it off at the local PO for collection.  At least I was able to collect it the same day: some couriers make you wait 24 hours, before you can come and get your failed delivery.

A word of warning when re-erecting fence panels on your own, galvanised fencing clips are razor sharp as your slide the panel down between the posts.  This wouldn't come up if you have a mate to steady the panel as you insert it but on your own, you have to battle with the wind and keep your panel vertical whilst you slide it down. Fingers are suddenly in the wrong place in relation to fence clips:ohmy:  I took a neat slice off the side of my right middle finger, not unlike a bacon cutter slicing a rasher at the deli counter in Tescos, during the installation of panel No.2 and I promptly stained the nice new fence post as I oozed:sad:

Brandy and the cats have both first aid kits, I also keep a dog one in car too, apart from going to the vets the cats don't travel.  We have something similar to Clive's suggestion

I don't like struggling to keep up with my mates 1.8 52 plate vectra, we both left work at the same time & as his St powered volvo isn't working at the moment he's brought his vectra along, it's easier getting away from the s60 than it was keeping up with that vectra.  Definitely booking a remap this month, not waiting for the mountune now, stuff 20hp

I don't like the thought of 3-4 hours sleep (if I'm lucky) and then back to work at 09:00.  Where did the last 13 days go!?  Seems like just a few days ago I was posting about having a holiday and now it has been spent.

If this were still my last job I would be quite happy to get back, in fact I would go as far as to say that I'd actually want to, but working where I am now...  I think I'd rather be ran over by a Vauxhall Corsa.

Want to know the worst bit??  I was running on 20miles range AND AND AND, it was downhill.

I don't like people!  Haven't even left the house yet but I just know that people are going to get on my nerves today.  Not in a particularly good humour.

I don't like my solicitor choosing to be out of the office and not answering his mobile when I have an urgent query:sad:  His secretary was supposed to be messaging him to call me back immediately: I've been waiting now for close to an hour:sad: Can't get on with this project until I've heard back from him:unsure:

I also don't like my finger with a fence clip related slice seems to be infected, despite washing it with 10% saline and smearing it with Germolene before a timely dressing application:sad:  Yellow extrudiate is appearing through the back of the dressing and it's more painful today:sad:

Ouch!  I'd book an appointment with your GP if I were you - if you can get one in the next 2 years that is.

At my GP, urgent appointments are about 3 weeks, not so urgent can be anything over that, possibly decades.

Whereas, if I pretended to be Brandy or one of the cats, I could get a vet's appointment within minutes:lol:

I shall treat it to to a wash in iodine shortly, once I've mentally prepared myself for the stinging shock of iodine in an open wound:unsure:  I'm fortunately covered for tetanus for the time being, following the 4" annular ringed nail in the foot penetration of a couple of years ago.

Still no solicitor call back:sad:

I thought that this thread was the most suitable place to post this as I cannot bare the situation.

After a run in with a crackhead on a bike, he smashed my windscreen therefore I've had to swap my beloved Focus for a 2013 Fiesta.

After 21,000 miles, a year and some amazing memories, the new owner collected the car today and I said bye to her.image.thumb.jpeg.260965daa10bbfb50da6229

Pour acetone, peroxide or vodka on it.

Hurts like a sonofabeach but cleans it out like you wouldn't believe.

I'll try that, I was going to use iodine.

I've got all three scattered about the house.

Thanks Clive:smile:

Thank me after the agony eases. 😈

Sorry to hear about the crackhead, but surely that wasn't the only reason/thought process behind swapping cars - a cracked windscreen is just a cracked windscreen?

That's what I thought...

I don't like finding a dog message in the hall, on the brown carpet, that's was relatively camouflaged, as I descended the stairs

Since she turned 15 and entered her older dog years, when she needs to go - it happens.

She's lost the "holding it in until someone let's me outside" stamina of the younger dog:huh:

At least with her raw food, it's rock hard and dry and much more pleasant to deal with; and certainly doesn't stick to shovels and blankets!

Yep, that was a major stinging sensation!

Worse than iodine I think, when injected into an empty friction blister, for comparison.

Maybe it's more serious than a just a cracked windscreen.  The memory of it happening/the aftermath

I don't think it would put me off the car!

I bought a watermelon on the way back from doing tonight's mail, I was looking forward to it.  I like melons, particularly watermelons

I've just eaten it, it was one the most disappointing watermelons I've tasted:sad:

Absolutely no flavour, :sad:the texture wasn't crisp:huh:: it's only saving grace, it was as juicy as you expect one to be.  Albeit, juice completely devoid of any watermelon flavour:sad:

Perhaps the crackhead has threatened Jack with violence in the future, if he saw him again and the Focus makes him readily identifiable.  By changing cars, he regains anonymity again in his home town.

Or just as Matt said,

I don't like completely forgetting all about the ebay auction I was snipe bid in the closing second: 2 hours ago:sad:

I even had the ebay bidding page up with my bid, ready to do it, on a separate tab:sad:

And of course, it went for far less than I was prepared to pay: as forgotten auctions always seem to:rolleyes:

The crackhead rides around on the bike at night without any hi-vis or lights and I've nearly knocked him off a few times because he rides out of the same sidestreet crossing a main road. It's a route I do nearly every night on my way back from visiting the other half. And I will admit that I've called him an effing idiot because he rides like one. He's seen my car outside my house and done it in, there's slight cctv footage of him but nothing that the police can do much with as we don't know where he lives. While there are many focuses near me, not many have a bright blue university parking permit in the windscreen :/

Might I add that in 30,000 miles of driving there have been a few close calls but none where the ABS has kicked in like with this pleb. When I say I was within millimetres of knocking him off, I mean it

Easy answer, lower your reaction time... Hopefully you'll put him out of your misery!
