The fridge sounds cool (no pun intended), wouldn't want to explain if there was beer in it to qa police man! Took me a while to read through but agree with everything said :') I was going to do my own sub instillation, got everything out the MK7, trim surround, screws out, complete fascia off and got to the back of the CD.. Took me so long without trim removal tool.. Searched everywhere for the wiring diagram as I wanted to splice/crimp wires to connect the RCA - eventually found it and then realised it was gonna be a pigs ear and didn't want to do anything wrong... Eventually took it to my local audio specialist and got them to fit it. Cost me £80 to fit as I supplied all the wires + RCA adapter which was very reasonable. Interestingly and contrary to urban myth you can run power lead, remote and the RCA leads down the same side of the car provided you don't have some monster ICE setup that draws a ton of power so all ran down passenger side under trim/seats nice and tidy! But I've got a 12" active Edge sub, just to go with the Orange seats ;) ahaha jokes - got it free of a mate that bought an Audi with the bose kit in. That said, even for £100 it packs a lot of bass, had to turn the stereo EQ right down even though the audio place had set it up. Awesome little piece of kit, would recommend to anyone that wants something effectively 'plug and play' without messing with custom enclosures etc.. It's actually suitable for all sorts, old school hip hop, rap, dub step, house, rock + metal, acoustic, chill out, garage *just to name a few And don't we all love that 2001 album, have to admit it still gets abused from time to time! :') Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The writing configuration on the sub itself to the box port, don't suppose you have a pic/diagram? The connection between amplifier and sub is just speaker cable, For optimum bass results i recommend using Vibe 13SPK FlatBass cable, Its ultra flat meaning easy to fit inside panels or under carpet, Is primarily my favourite because its got solid copper core strands for optimum transition of voltage. Some silicone sealant could be used but i didn't bother as the sub enclosure is precision built from laser cut MDF panels. Can then terminate cables with banana plugs if desired for easy removal of sub enclosure The top and botton screw hole on the sub are in perfect alignment to each other, So Use a straight 90 degree edge such as a saw, to mark the centre of the 10" port to ensure your JL.Audio logo is centre in the end prior to !Removed! it in. Thinking may cut a sheet of MDF to fit over the right wheel arch and carpet it and mount it on that.if you were to email them, im sure they wil order one in for you quicker than they would if they were just getting it in to stock the shelves, Some care or shall we say precautions need to be taken when mounting your amp mate, It needs to be spaced where it has good air circulation, And It cant/shouldn't be mounted upside down, I had planned to mount my mono amp upside down on the right underside of the boot panel until i read the manual said no upside down because it wont vent off heat in this position, I was persistent and went back to the drawing board devised a plan to mount it vertical at 45 degrees on some steel custom bent powder coated brackets bolted in to the above panel like this: I first obtained a welding rod to bend by hand; the required shape: (A coat hanger will do the same job) I first experemented with alluminium strips but they dont really bend under pressure, I then took this template to a local steel merchant whom bent two steel brackets to match its bends. I then sat the amplifier on to these brackets to mark out some holes for drilling: Four 6mm holes up top, Four 5.5mm holes for the amp (this may differ depending on amplifier model) I then sent the brackets for sand blasting and powder coating in a black finish to match the amplifiers coating: I then went on to eBay and purchased some black anodised Allen head aluminium bolts to mount the amplifier to the brackets, Securing them at the rear with some M5 stainless steel Nylon lock nuts: Finished off with some plastic M5 ball head caps: Mounting like this: For mounting in to the panel; Purchased some M6 stainless steel hexagon head bolts: Followed by some large M6 stainless penny washers to expand the grip surface inside panel: Again secured with Stainless M6 Nylon lock nuts and plastic caps: Looks like this: Ill now create a separate post explaining how to get best ventilation when fitting at 180degrees vertical position, Its not as sophisticated as the above. 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
