JC600
Collected a few parts today, correct airbox for the remote idle speed control valve I fitted. Genuine Ford Indicator to replace the aftermarket one I have fitted. And a coil pack cover that mine was missing. Just need a good clean before I fit them all. :)
JC600
Airbox lid cleaned up and fitted. Coil pack cover cleaned and fitted. Engine bay looking better.

Water marks, but will clean up OK. Got a unibond 360 dehumidifier in there now, works a treat. But still needs a wash, but when I'm off work it's usually raining and freezing lol. :)

JC600
Changed my knackered under bonnet stickers today, but used ones for a 1.6 efi engine so they are correct. :) Old ones New ones All fitted
E TEA 66
Looks alot fresher with the new stickers fitted Jamie 8) and i suddenly remembered that when i had my Escort back in 96 i replaced both headlamps due to excessive condensation causing the chrome to peel so my thoughts are if yours are original they've really stood the test of time mate and by the way i don't know what these headlamps would cost now but i paid £24.95 for the offside and £10 for the nearside both of them brand spanking new but the cheaper of the 2 was from a scrappy selling off slight seconds ..
JC600
Cheers Ian, pattern headlights are round £20-30. Mine are carello chrome tops, and are original. :)

JC600
When I the idle control valve to the Hitachi Ford modification. I didn't realize they also replaced the ecu. The car has been idling better but every now and it started hunting. So I sourced a 1afa ecu and it arrived today. :) Car fired up absolutely perfectly, idle was spot on. Even know the battery had been disconnected. Got up to temperature, and fans didn't kick in. Done ecu reset procedure. Still no fan. Switched off engine, before it got to the red. So I could bridge the fan switch plug. And the fan switch fell apart in my hand. Checked fan still, and all working. Just need a new switch. :) Think it's past its beat lol
E TEA 66
Yep! i reckon that's well past it's sell by date mate and making a temporary bridge does work as i did that trick on my very 1st car lol .. Lets hope the replacement ECU is a permanent and final solution mate but it should be if it's the correct one like you say it is ..

JC600
New fan switch arrived. :D Fitted And a little video clip of how it's idling now, and a rev up lol. :D Just can't drive it till next weekend, as I'm on call. :(
JC600
Thought I'd sort the rubbing strips out today, ready for when it goes to paint. :D Before, plastic had gone brittle and chrome tarnished. Before Had to peel off the old double sided tape from the back. Peel off the plastic, then clean up and put on the 12mm wide red Coach line. :) Not perfect but not too bad either lol
E TEA 66
The new fan switch looks great fitted and if it lasts half as long as the original it will have done really well and yes having to wait till next weekend for a proper drive after fitting it is a real annoying pain but at least you know you've got that to look forward too ;) . Those moulding strips look ace for a bit of a spruce up and even though it's a shame you couldn't get hold of any NOS they'll still look great when fitted mate :) ..
