Maxxxykins
Congrats, nice to see one of these being looked after! What car did you have before this? Out of curiosity, how good are those metal ramps you have? Would they work on a pave driveway?
Antonelson96
Thanks . My car before was a 1993 Peugeot 106 1.4 diesel , it was a good car overall as it was my first car but it started having problems with the head gasket, I have still got it and still looking after it as my brother is going to learn to drive in it. But from mylittle Puegoet to an Escort GTi , the Escort is a million times better and a million times faster. As for the ramps they work best in gravel or on the grass if the weather is okay as they don't slip as easily, they do work on concrete or brick surfaces but can slip sometimes.

JC600
Thanks mate, hope you get sorted.......it's really solid. Once engine is running properly, I'll start on body work. Underneath first though. :)

I took it back to the previous owners the other day and they said the only thing the could recognise was the number plate. Well if it makes you feel any better, my driver side door outside handle broke this morning found the previous owners tried to glue it back together I'm going to look in my local yard to find a new handle tommorrow and it's getting its central locking finally sorted this Thursday... Hopefully. but two fixable things to an otherwise perfect car is no problem. Its rare to see an Escort I hardly seen another one except the Van is still common.
Antonelson96
Successfully got myself a door handle from the local scrap yard came off an old Escort LX 5 door which had been there for over 6 years but it gave me a perfectly good handle , was a quick 15 minute job to get the old broken one off and new one on and a wash and wax with my Autoglym shampoo does a great job every time I try and do this about 3 times a week to keep her clean...

Yea i thought i looked familiar, it was the fox wheels that gave me a hint, it doesn't look the same at all. he also had it on eBay, think he was asking around the 800 mark at that time? ive had mine since 2008 and im always on the look out for other gti's in the area; I also own a gti estate thats in a bit of a state, its just a donar car for my 3 door purchased for the bargain price of £175! in fairness mine has been a really good car, had been sat since late 2014, fired it up and drove it to the mot station and passed with just tyres as an advisory! they are a great car. You never know you might see mine around the area now, thinking of taking it for some !Removed! laps on Yarmouth seafront soon ;)

I took it back to Nathan about a week ago and they were pritty happy I saved it , I think he had the intentions of restoring it . When I was looking for a Gti I do remember seeing it on eBay and then a couple of weeks later on gumtree , I guess you are familiar with what my Gti looked like before? I wasn't the biggest fan of the fox wheels if I was honest. I didnt pass it's MOT first time It didn't fail badly at all after it's had a lot done to it , I got the central locking going again today , I'm getting a new locking barrel for it on the drivers side as it won't unlock with the key this should be done in the next couple of days. Estate ones are rare i have seen so many normal Escort Estates which are replicas , I do like your white Gti I did want a white one when I was looking but I'm more than happy with my moondustsilver one :) let me know if your around and we could go for a drive sometime

Tbh i purchased the estate with the intentions of using it for parts but after a lengthy chat with the owner i thought id see if i could get it roadworthy again as i started to get attached to it. reason i didn't save it was purely it would have cost a bomb and i would much rather spent it on mine which is a shame :/ Im up for that :) ill have to get it insured now.
Antonelson96
went to London at 3 in the morning to drop a friend off at Stansted Airport , an overall trip of just about 200 miles and it ran faultlessly , it got dirty from the traffic spray and rain so spent my time wisely in the afternoon giving it a Autoglym car wash, interior and engine bay detailing, came out really good as she always shines afterwards. Did this all while Jamming to some old Skool 90s on bluetooth Culture beat , Real Mccoy , Ace of Bass e.c.t

These are getting rare now , I havn't passed another Gti since I got it and very rarely see another Escort on the road, it's a shame because they were britians best selling cars of its time. What car do you drive? 😀
Dan P
It's a shame more haven't survived. I've got a Fiesta Mk7.5 ST3 and a Focus Mk2 2.0.

Nice .I like both your cars , I'm getting used to the new Fiestas they just seem to be getting bigger to me 😀 . I like the look of the ST but I have never experienced driving a new Ford , to me the 18 year old Escort Gti feels really nice to drive but if I drove a new fiesta ST I'm sure it would be a completely different. A lot of the Escort simply just died through rust , a lot of them would have structural corrosion particularly along the sills and rear chassis legs which would simpily be worth more than the car to fix unfortunately. I bought my Gti for £500 and spent £3000 rebuilding it , it is worth a lot more now after her work but a lot of people wouldn't go through with the work.
