Hassen
Very thorough guide for an audio install and given me lots of pointers and ideas. Thanks for putting it all up. Very tempted to get Dynamat for the car after seeing it in your car. It seems to be worth the effort.
Mr_Spock
Thanks :) I believe I forgot to describe the degree of reduced road noise - after dampening the entire car - unfortunatly I did'nt measure the noise level before I started with the project. But it's a really big improvement. Maybe diesels and Ghias/Titaniums have more sound dampening - (I believe you could order your new car with extra sound dampening too? ) - but mine had almost none - as the pictures show. Dynamat sure is a good supplier of damping mats, in my area it was more economic to choose the brand Silent Coat in Bulk packages.
Hassen
I had a look under the carpets today and there was barely any dampening, mostly exposed metal. I drive a diesel, which is fairly quiet but on motorways, the sound gets in the way of listening to my music and it's starting to annoy me. Also, trying to have a conversation with my wife in the passenger seat is not that easy. My future plans would be to save up to get the bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme, a roller kit and maybe a Haynes manual as well for good measure. Then, slowly on weekends and evenings do the panels slowly until it is all done as time is a big issue for me. That's my tentative plan so far. Any advice on how to get the Dynamat properly would be appreciated.
Mr_Spock
Thorough cleaning before attaching the damping sheets. First vacuum, next wash with soap and water - and wipe off with Methylated Spirits (or similar product). I believe summer temperatures would benefit both attachment and making the sheets more flexible to work with. Check for tips were you buy the damping sheets. To get a more complete sound dampening, I believe they recommend that you lay multiple layers of different types of damping mats. As different types og mats dampens different types of sound. I like your plan, take your time :)
Hassen
Thanks for the advice. Now just need to start saving up and then get the pieces. Should be good fun :)
Lenny
Thank you :) I really recommend getting the Haynes Manual to do the removal of the inner panel. But I will try to describe how to do it. Loosen the rubber grommits - the green ones - the opening handle wire can be easily removed form the opening handle. The red circles: the inner panel holds the power windows mechanism, with the window glass attach to it. First remove the rubber inner weather strip from the door. Remove the two rubber sealings in the red circles (glue them back on when tou're finished) lower the windows until you see 10mm bolts - looking in to the holes - loosen the bolts - then grab with both hands on top of the window glass (tilting it up at the rear) and carefully slide it up and out of the door completely. Blue circle - these 3 plastic plugs are holding locking mechanism - which are attach to the door. To loosen the locking mechanism you have to remove the outer door handle (and a bolt behind it) and the 4 bolts at the end of the door. I have not done this - I did carefulley remove the 3 black plastic plugs just to get the inner panel off. Hope this helps you. Thanks very much for this information mate,Some how I missed this thread until now, I'm installing the ford puddle lights and I need to run cable through the rubber pipe of the door loom So basically I need to get in there to fish cable through, Makes it easier seeing you have been there before and survived gives me hope that I will too. Mr_Spock
Where do you route Amplifiers cables, from engine bay to cabin? Kinda intrested because i've making same thing as you I used an already made hole, it's on the right side on my car - it is where most of the electric cables from the engine bay comes through. I just widened the big rubber gasket. Good luck with your project :)
Megado
You mean ECU/MJB cables inlet near a-pillar? Need a hole for a 50mm2 cable. I had only 5.2meter, and car is wagon, but i think floorpan is still the same. Nice ICE install btw. :)

Thanks for liking the installation - it still sounds amazing.
Megado
OK, do you have link eBay page where you find those speaker adapters? I think i change original set to Pioneer/DLS 5.25" sets.
Mr_Spock
It is the same type as these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-2005-On-MK2-MK2-5-Front-Door-6-5-17CM-Car-Speaker-Adaptor-Brackets/171220347689?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222003%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20646%26meid%3D5715432260365445874%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9210%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D290383158666&rt=nc You may find them cheaper, if you search around a little. Because i have Titanium, and under carpet i have abt. 10mm thick layer damper from factory. (I think they add Nordic versions, mm. like Titanium Ghia) Or maybe when someone orders specially sound damping, when order newone
Hassen
My car is a 2010 Zetec 1.6 TDCI. Under the carpet, there is a grey type of mat material. I thought there might be something bonded to the metal rather like in other cars to stop vibration getting in the way of listening to music. Planning to get Silent Coat onto the metal after stripping the inside of the car during the summer. From research, it's cheaper than Dynamat and as effective apparently. Megado
I'm not familiar with Zetec type model, but i think it's same as here called ECOnetic, or GB model Zetec S is here that ECOnetic.
Hassen
The Zetec S they have in Uk would be similar. From the picture on your account, if that's your current car, mine would be the same I think.

Nighthawk
I thought Titanium was above Ghia? At least it was on our C Max. Sent from my HUAWEI Ascend P2 using Ford OC mobile app
