MM CAN- On Car pin 16 move to Sync 2 APIM pin 19

MM CAN- On Car pin 17 move to Sync 2 APIM pin 20

Then Sync 2 APIM can be powered up

I am not sure why you couldn't open my link for the correct usb lead. Try this one.

On cutting the dash I did mine very carefully just taking a little bit out at a time. I took out the air vents from the radio control panel as that made it easier. I will post some pics. Also have a look here for a bit of info.

Seeing your guide and comparing it with this one of the forum I saw that the pin numbers of the media hub do not correspond between the 2 guides ... Why?

The easiest place to take the MS can is from the heater module. If I remember rightly it's the blue plug.  Pin 18 grey & orange on the heater module goes to pin 16 on the sync module.  P

do you have a demonstration diagram of six media hub connectors to identify the pins to be connected?

I have this of sync 2 to put

Just follow the spreadsheet that is on the first page of this thread. It is proven to work.

so all the pins to be intercepted by the hub are all in the big black connector that you see in the photo I posted of the media center? And the smaller hub connectors need to replace the existing ones sync 1 right?

Hi all,

This looks awesome.

Is there anyone out there offering this service? I don’t have the time or energy to do it myself.

Thanks

@Antdawe

What system do you have at present? In a 2012 Focus you might have either Sync 1 or Bluetooth/Voice Control, both of which look the same with only minor differences...

If you send me a private message with your reg I can look up what you have.

There's another thing to bear in mind also, in that some 2011/12 cars which originally had BVC and not Sync1, had an ACM with only one 24 pin connector (Main) not two (Acc), and these are totally incompatible because Sync 1/2/3 requires the two connectors for certain functions to work.

spacer.png

So I had no choice but to purchase a Sync 3 ACM at the time. I never changed the config in BCM to 6 speaker from 9 speaker and it still worked, but with the DTC. Changing it to 6 speaker cleared that DTC on the ACM.

Mine had a Sync 1 ACM even though it was a BVC. Still had to change to a MK3.5 sync3 ACM (I have 6 speakers so no problem with this) because of crashing station list (due to different station presets number on sync 1 compared to sync 3 ACM as described by STEEVO25). If you are ok with non working station list then sync 1 would work ok selecting, searching and hearing stored stations through media/radio menu. TMC incompatibility between sync 1 ACM and sync 3 was something I did not know of when swapped. One more reason, I am happy I swapped. Thanks to STEEVO25 for the nice info.

The UK donor MK3.5 car of the sync3 ACM was from a 6 speaker car with DAB. Sound was ok but had to enable DAB in CCC because my EU sync 1 ACM did not have DAB and was getting a DTC. I still have DAB disabled in APIM because my antenna is actually for FM and AM (so dont think it would work with DAB stations) and there are no DAB stations in my country anyway.

Hi guys,

I need your help in 2 maters ... so here is the situation:

Just made an upgrade from sync 1 to a sync 3 on a 2014 Kuga. (The sync 3 came from a 2019 kuga).

All the operations were done by a ford  club member in my country that is kind of specialised in this area.

Even so  there are 2 things that are not ok:

1. The parking sensors are soundless ( the music volume goes down, the visual aid is on the screen, but no beeping) and he could not find any issue (previewsly to the upgrade were working just fine)

2. Have any idea on how i might fix the lower part(the one with the volume and radio butons) in to the dash, as there was made some cutting inside and has nothing to fix it on.

Thank you!

I didn't touch the original media hub wiring and I didn't use the Kuga media hub. I used one from a Focus that only has 4 pins. Only 2 of the wires are connected to the media hub which are pins 1 and 4 and ran these from the APIM. So much easier than connecting all those wires for an additional usb port and aux port which i didn't need.

This is the part number I used. GC3T-14F014-AB

And this lead fits the media hub.

I already have the media center that comes from the same donor kuga of the whole sync 2 system and therefore I will use the original one and pass all the cables necessary to exploit everything. I don't want to have an aux port and not be able to use it because it's disconnected. I would like to have the system 100% working. Today I will start preparing the wiring and then start the disassembly sync 1. I'm just waiting for the ordered gpsm module to arrive. I hope to succeed in the enterprise

This is a bit of a guess as I don't know the factory hardware installed in a Kuga with regards to which hardware part numbers are configured to what. So I can only relate to a Focus.

On some park assist systems, the beeper for the parking sensors go through the ACM. On others, they have their own independent speaker.

Since you have changed your ACM, my guess is that your system goes through the ACM and the donor car you got your ACM from didn't have this configured.

On a Focus, 2019 was the year a change over happened with a new type of ACM. I don't know if this was the same on the Kuga or whether the ACM can be reconfigured (it can't on a Focus but many Kuga ACMs can be reconfigured).

I would start by putting your original Sync 1 ACM back in and see if the parking sensor beeper returns. If it does then the issue is with the new ACM. A Sync 1 ACM will work on a Sync 3 system but you will lose TMC.

If the Sync 1 ACM solves the issue then you will have to investigate if your new ACM can be reconfigured with something like Forscan or UCDS.

hello I update you ... I started the disassembly and I passed the cables to the new media center. The apm sync 1 cable is too short so I will have to add some extensions because it does not reach the dashboard. The acm cables, on the other hand, I managed to get them up there. I did the first test and the screen works. I wanted to ask you but the green light that illuminates the cd input how should I connect it to make it turn on when the stereo is on?

You need to connect pins 3 (light) and 5 (ground) from the FDCIM connector to the CD light

Sorry but I'm not with your schematic ... I jo 12 pins in the FCDIM connector and not 8 and they don't match the colors. Where should I connect the cd light?

and you can't hear the FM radio ... just rustle. What should I do?

Front panel illumination is controlled by the CAN bus. If you have not made the connections highlighted below then the front panel will not illuminate. The car illumination circuit only illuminates the hazard button and will already be there.

Don't rely on wire colours as I have seen some change colour between model year. Go by the physical pin numbers which are marked on the connectors.

For the antenna, check that you have the correct antenna plugged in to the correct place. The FM/AM antenna is a white Fakra connector and plugs in to the white antenna port on the back of the ACM. If this is connected and a station correctly tuned in and you still have nothing then it could be a problem with the ACM itself.

the problem is not the front fascia ... that lights up correctly. I say the green light that illuminates the cd input that I don't know where to connect it ...

Don't think we have that on the Focus. I don't remember it. But if it's illumination then connect it as per @JPW said above. The connector he is referring to is the FCIM (front panel connector) not FCDIM.

Also, if your APIM is not connected to MM-CAN then the ACM won't work as it communicates with the ACM over MM-CAN.

Ahh ok at FCIM ok. Pin 5 is there but pin 3 is empty, I connect a wire right?

Ok, this is where there is a wiring difference. Pin3 of the front panel connector should already be there as it goes to the car illumination circuit. If it's not then you are somehow going to have to tap in to the car illumination circuit.

You really need a Kuga wiring diagram. I have very limited Kuga information.

For illumination, you can connect to your heated windscreen switch.

It should be Pin6 Illumination (Violet/Grey wire). Ground is on Pin12 (Black wire).

But for information, the Kuga wiring diagram does show a connection to Pin3 for illumination so no idea why there is no wire present. The only pin that should be unused is Pin6.
