I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

True, I meant stuck as in, "not left yet" rather than as in "poor you"...

Nice recovery there Sir :d

mmm.... Plymouth, only been there once. I lost a teapot, in the water up by Smeatons Tower in the Hoe area . It wasn't even my teapot to lose. I watched slowly it descend beneath sea and pondered, albeit briefly, whether to jump in and save it. Which would have been foolish: as I can't swim

Is anyone else confused??

In ways you can't fathom :)

Ship has a car? Lol

Yep - the MT Section have allowed us the use of a car for "Ships Business"

You still stuck in Plymouth?

Umm...yeeeeaaaahhhh lol

Have you read the article in the Plymouth Herald about us? (The Wave Knight)

What is a tedious evolution?

Long and boring lol

We were shifting berths - a cold move (solely using tugs rather than under our own power). They're not very exciting and yet we have a full pilotage organisation in place.

I dodged it by picking up the Captain lol

How on earth can a boat yard mess up a refit?

Should have let Devonport do it.

Is anyone else confused??

To clarify, when I said

This wasn't referring to something I like but merely adding to the general Plymouth discussion theme.

I got that, I was just confused... About the whole losing a teapot (wtf?) into the sea... By Smeatons Tower, which is about 100-200 metres from the sea, and the fact it wasn't your teapot to lose... It has me worryingly intrigued as well as confused...

Ah OK , a few more details then, are required to make sense of my Plymouth teapot loss episode. :)

In the summer of 1981, a group of us were driving down to Cornwall. One of our party wanted to return Smeatons Tower, mainly for nostalgic childhood reasons - when we were passing nearby. It was getting close to lunch when we were on the outer limits of Plymouth. We then decided it was as good as any a place to stop, and besides, it would sate Sue's nostalgia desire. Which it did.

Amongst the group of mates, a couple, Andy and Jan, who regarded with disdain, the ways of pre-made tea in thermos flask, or a humble teabag in a cup. They wouldn't conceive of ever purchasing tea from a cafe; unless it was made to their exacting specification and method. For they were loose tea drinkers, and not your regular Typhoo, Tetley or PG Tips either - but hand blended loose tea from specialist purveyors of fine teas!

Wherever they went, when they thought tea might be required; such as this occasion, they carried with them, a small propane powered stove, a kettle, a small jerrycan of freshly drawn water, a box of their chosen tea, a strainer, mugs and obviously a teapot.

We ate lunch near the tower, a mixture of home-prepared picnic items, a barbecue and vendor purchases. Tea was brewed: tea was drunk, and then some sauntered in ones and two, over to the sea and back. At some point, everybody decided to go seawards at the same time. This meant packing up all our stuff and taking it with us, for a group stroll.

Hindsight suggests, for the teapot at least, that taking our stuff back to our cars would've been better

I was carrying a stack of plastic food saver containers and balanced on the top, held down with my chin - the teapot.

Unfortunately, as I was in mid-stride, right up by the edge of the promenade where sea started: I momentarily tripped. Not a huge fall on your face, knock a tooth out type of trip. But a mis-step type of trip. where you do little jig as you correct your posture.. Lunging forwards, and then jerking upwards - I lost my chin hold on the teapot. :o

Alas! The teapot bounced twice on the plastic food saver lid and then tumbled into the water :o :o :o

. . . . . . . & now it's a seapot :)

. . . . . or even a can't seepot :)

That was actually a brilliant story! Hahaha, so glad I asked! I wonder if there is any remnants of the teapot to this day?

Help you reminisce about that teapot...

But how did Mr & Mrs Teapot react to this sudden and tragic loss of their beloved child?

They were a little '' strained '' :)

Having been through the '' strainer '' :)

I suspect with an earl of grey dismay.

Relatively calmly, once the overall group laughter had ceased.

.... my purchase of replacement teapot from a small potter outside St. Ives, restored equilibrium :)

Ironically, it was Mr Teapot who was reknowned in the group for random acts of clumsiness

. . . . . & now they are tee'd off :)

Sounds 'potty' to me.

Sure it wasn't taken by a 'tea-leaf'?

I'll get me coat...

I expected their initial response would have been to want to leaf the scene quickly, with their faces turning red bush, and steam coming from their ears.

Though when the new pot was brewed, the par-tea probably started.

Call the cloakroom, tell them to expect overtime ;)

Probably '' green '' with envy :)
