Mirror caps come off just fine.Tilt the mirror glass down as far as it goes then use two screwdrivers at the same time to push into the two little arcs you'll see behind the glass.

Don't over pry the tabs there or they can snap off.

Pull the caps back and up to remove.

I find that using a torch helps immensely with correctly locating the arcs / tabs, also for a better angle of attack try dropping the front windows too.

I was going to attempt this today and wrap the mirrors tonight, but instead discovered my electric mirrors weren’t working, nor were the driver door window controls...

Strange.

Found the fuse - blown! Went to put a new one in and it blew before I could even slide it in place! Tried once more (fuses are cheap right?) and same again. Ok so I’ve got an issue with that circuit I guess. It covers driver door controls and interior lights.

Coincidence? Having just had the headliner down to wrap the roof? I think not.

Nothing in the antenna that could have been damaged. I had the roof handles down - nothing electrical in those...

Oh and I had the sun visors down as well....they have vanity lights in them! Switched on the car and sure enough the lights aren’t working. Ok so something there...took both down and the passenger side I must have trapped the wire. It’s destroyed! There’s my issue.

I was going to put this in things I don’t like, but I’ve found the issue...so looking at the positive!

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

At least you located the problem.

Not been on for a couple of days so behind the times with regards to any insurance refunds. I'm with Aviva and my renewal was due on the 12th March and was paid in full for the year. Nothing on Aviva's website about any possible refunds only deferring a monthly payment if financially struggling.

I do however like being buzzed by a C130 Hercules traveling at ~210 knots at around ~500ft above the ground. Our house does appear to be a focal point for military helicopters but I haven't seen any for a while. Today the C130 flew over about 12:45 and was banking left as it went over us.

I got buzzed by a C-130 on holiday in Cornwall a few years ago, girlfriend pointed it out quick enough for me to film it on my phone.
Weather was so dull I never bothered taking out my drone, so that could have been bad, or a pretty epic lol.

If I ever saw a AC130 I'd run into the nearist building 😅. That feeling of seeing it in action like in call of duty modern warfare 2 or olympus has fallen does make it scary

The sound of it approaching gave me enough time to get outside to see it just pass over but I wouldn't have had a chance to see it coming unfortunately. Surprisingly it was quieter than the Chinooks that flew over a year or so ago at a similar height. I would love to recreate the last scene out of 28 Days Later (spoiler below)...

and put some sheets on the roof saying 'Hello' to see if I get any reaction.

Definitely something I would like to see flying over. Not sure your building cover would do you any good @zain611 but I would be more curious to know why you be attracting the attention of one .

I did manage to get an Apache AH64D on my dashcam the other year though only the very last few seconds before it disappeared over a hill. There is a Netflix documentary of the AH64's in the first Iraqi war (Apache Warrior) which shows you that even something as feared as the Apache is vulnerable to small arms fire.

I've seen loads of C130's flying over the years.
The most interesting one I had was once when I was driving up the A1 towards Yorkshire and it appeared overhead and followed the road at probably 1000ft.
Had a few Chinooks fly over my area as well as AH64 Apache's and a few A400m's and managed to get pics of one A400m and a couple of Chinooks. Never managed to capture the Apache's though.
Military aircraft rarely fly over this way unless they are training for something like touch and go's or helipad landings (the Apache's have used LGI hospital landing pad for training before).

Had a C130 pass over extremely low the other week - made the house shake! Saw a couple of V22 Ospreys from my back garden the other evening. I've previously seen them when we've been at our caravan up the Dales (fat chance of that this year so far!) but this is the second time I've seen them from home this year.

I do like how small this memory drive is which I purchased from Amazon to fit my xtrons TV tuner in my focus to enable the pause & record feature

I bought one of those a couple of years ago...was great for the Mk3 Focus with the USB in the armrest!  Sadly the Golf doesn't have any USB inputs, they were still holding onto SD card tech at the time so the tiny USB has sat in a drawer ever since, waiting for the next modern car I get lol!

My SEAT Leon Mk 3 (Golf 7 in all but name) had USB and SD slots, but I found that it didn't like USB sticks at all, so I copied all my stuff on to an SD card which worked fine. Other owners on the SEAT forums reported the same.

Oddly I've used the very same USB stick (the one Leon didn't like) in 2 Mk 7 Fiestas, a Mk 2.5 Focus, a Mk 2 C-Max and my present Mk 8 Fiesta with no issues at all, so it must be something about VW media systems.

Very odd!  I'll have to hang on to the SD card if I do get a newer VAG car in that case.

Lol I can’t say I’ve ever used the USB ports for anything other than charging my phone, if I want music I just use Spotify lol 😂

+1 I always use spotify streaming via bluetooth;

Just using the USB to record tv shows from the tuner in the car

I cba with all the hassle of bluetoothing Spotify to the car.  With USB or SD it just works like the radio...switch engine on - music on, switch engine off - music off.  No need to touch the phone at all with the added bonus of not draining the battery!

And there's me thinking Spotify was for acne......😀

It can be a hassle to set up Spotify when you get in the car, but it doesn’t bother me too much. I have been listening to some CD’s on my rare journeys of late.

I prefer listening to podcasts more than music and I just do that via Bluetooth.

I did try connecting my phone with the aux lead and aux input but didn't seem to work. Don't know if there is a notification I have to adjust on the phone to recognise the lead.

Did find this video funny. Not something you'd Want with social distancing

I do like Facebook memories...would have forgotten about half my fails without that! :whistling:

8 years ago today I had a horrible 106 with a knackered driveshaft seized in the hub which I was trying to remove in torrential rain.  Left it over night, the axle stands sunk into the drive and it fell off...whoops!  Good job it wasn't anything decent!  Don't use axle stands on loose ground, guys.

I do like finally feeling like I have some control over my gardens!  Both front and back need a lot more work but I am making progress and feel like I'm capable of doing it.  Maybe my mindset is changing and I actually have some confidence in my abilities...

That doesn't mean I'm going to start painting or hanging wallpaper, tried that and failed and I have no desire to try again!!  Gardening however, I think I could get the hang of that 🤞
