I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

I've noticed some Savings today on CircleK premium Diesel got three quarters of a tank for €30 where normally I get half a tank for the same money,

Also checked the price of Kerosene home heating oil today and it's way down; €450 for 1,000 litres 🥳

Stopped off in the local watering hole that is Circle k fuel station thismorning on the local motorway while on my commute to work during all of this madness,

As it's on the motorway there is a long winding road in and out of it,

While fueling my focus and listening to the birds singing since the motorway is silent; I did like hearing the chatter of a petrol engine approaching followed by the woosh of a dump valve and the vehicle passing from the rear of the fuel station car park then out on exit towards the motorway.

It was in fact an electric blue Mk2 Focus ST only one middle aged male occupant whom had the window half down and a huge smile on his face; clearly enjoying the car and the weather,

Was nice to see another ford enthusiast in the country aswell as a vehicle which sounded fantastic aswell as a smiling face in public during these; challenging times

I then attempted to reenact the scene as well I too have a focus; it's a mk2.5 ZetecS has body kit and the same Recaro interior as the ST now; but sadly mines a Diesel and to be fair it didn't sound anything special like the mk2 ST on transition from second to third gear at I would estimate around 70% throttle 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps someday I might get myself a second hand one.

I liked getting some body work repairs done today, hopefully get more scratches sorted in the next few weeks,
I think the previous owner parked next to a bush because front n/s corner had a dozen minor scratches on it.

Only did the compound & polish by hand as I'm waiting for Turtle Wax to release a polish/wax kit for black cars,
Once I get that, then the ST will get it's first proper machine polish.

Didn't think I'd see this 😂

Today’s the day I’m attempting to wrap the roof of the ST.

So far it’s fighting me. There’s instructions all over for removing the antenna and the rails on the hatch but not on the estate! Antenna was off no bother but I basically had to drop the full headliner to remove the rails as they’re bolted on rather than clipped. Makes sense I suppose as they’re not just trim.

Rails are off and I have two cuts on my finger from headliner. Antenna is off without issue. Now another clean after lunch and get started with the easy (?) bit...

Harder to make out with the sunshine on the gloss but I’m pleased with that!

Very nice indeed 👍

Would you consider de-wiper?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-focus-rear-dewiper-Gloss-Black-Bung-MK2-MK3-2-0-RS-ST2-225-ST3-Wiper-Delete/163362125682?pageci=2d9645a8-e2ed-45ff-8aa2-a5ce50c6c517

Also RS Green calipers would really get it popping and some bronze Rota Grid alloys

I don't know what it's like in Ireland, but if I got a wiper delete, I might just as well wrap the rear window too 😅

Not just winter, I seem to be using screenwash to contanstly get the pollen and dust off at the moment.

I've been rolling without for a few years now since 2015; I actually saved myself €30 per service at ford because they can no longer bill me for changing the blade and I won a €200 voucher from eflow toll back in 2018 for suggesting it as a cost saving motoring tip.

Heres my guide which I'll be revisiting soon to fit s glass version instead of the rubber; the glass version wasn't an option back when I done it the first time.

I mainly do motorway runs not country roads which does make a difference to keeping it clear and I use rainex to help keep it from collecting pearls and I have a reverse camera fitted.

Don't think I could get away with it here in sunny Scotland either tbh...

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was hard work, and its definitely not perfect - a few creases here and there but not noticeable unless pointed out. But for a first attempt I'm very pleased with it. Good fun too

Next step I might try and get the wing mirror backs wrapped. Got plenty film left over. Thinking it will be easier if I can get them off the car and wrap them - anyone done that before?

Not done any wrap myself (yet), but I watched this YouTube video for mirrors, deffo worth a watch.

Mirror caps come off just fine.Tilt the mirror glass down as far as it goes then use two screwdrivers at the same time to push into the two little arcs you'll see behind the glass.

Don't over pry the tabs there or they can snap off.

Pull the caps back and up to remove.

I find that using a torch helps immensely with correctly locating the arcs / tabs, also for a better angle of attack try dropping the front windows too.

Amazing Stoney thanks for that. That will be useful.

Raider I did see that video, but I reckon it would be hard to do the prestretching myself....but if I can take the caps off and bring it inside then the wife can help.

Brings back memories when I wrapped my mirror covers carbon fibre on my Peugeot 107

I think the combo of taking the caps off and following the stretch technique is the best option,
Stick edge to a work surface to stretch it out, then it should be fairly simple to wrap it around and trim it on the inside of the cap.

Supposedly good luck but not pleasant.

How many self isolating kids full of energy first thing in the morning are going to try do that and further congest (no COVID-19 pun intended) the hospitals having either face planted the coffee table or the sofa 😂
