Mk. 4.5 Delays

It's not that weird. Pixel led headlights (especially) and some other additional packs rely heavily on semiconductors. This is something that is still not fixed and won't be for a presumably long time based on the current events and overall situation. That's why Ford had initially started producing Pumas and Focuses (design line) without the camera and some other features that need it.

I read somewhere over the weekend, they reckon it will be well into 2023 before the situation starts to improve for Semiconductors/Silicon, and a while after that before normality is returned!!

yes, because automakers don't make semiconductor stocks as Microsoft or other tech companies, and that's a shame...

I think that Toyota and Hyundai/Kia have something in their stock - they are far less affected by this deficiency...

Like others on this forum, I’m facing a dilemma… I will find out, hopefully, next month, when I could reasonably expect my car to be delivered. At this point, I could be released from my contract to purchase because of the long delay. If I decide to keep my order live, and hence my contract, I’ll be bound to purchase my car in maybe 8 months or more!  If want to pull out of the purchase I will be liable for paying for all the options I included, pan roof matrix lights drivers pack hud parking pack etc etc some £4500 worth!

I included all the options on my order because the discount offered was great and this will be a car to keep long term…

I want this car but what if, like some other comments make, there’s another delay, for another few months? Ford really need to make a statement of intent about existing orders…

That doesn't sound right. What do the Conditions on the Order you presumably signed say?

They used to state under "Delay in Delivery":

"Should the vehicle and accessories not be delivered within three months of the desired delivery date the Retail Customer may by giving written notice to the Seller cancel this contract and thereupon the deposit paid hereunder by the Retail Customer should be returnable in full."

Yes you’re correct, I can cancel with no penalty if car is delayed beyond stated delivery estimate but if I’m asked if I want to continue with the order and wait, then I believe that I would be asked to sign again with the penalty mentioned in place as if it was a ‘new’ contract.should I feel that I want to walk away… my guess is, and I don’t know yet, that if I still want the vehicle then I’ll need to be asked to sign again, with a suitable time for delivery stated. The‘problem’ is the uncertainty of when Ford will be able to fulfill the order or if I’ll be left dangling! Well into next year!

Toyota no, for example if you want to order the new Yaris Cross or Corolla Cross, you wait even 2 years, and it's not OK.

Hyundai yes, in 5-6 months you have the car, but I30 for example it lacks the adaptive cruise control, which for me it's a big no.

Kia they raised the price a lot, so that's why the delivery date it's low, but the stock it's again low. For example, the XCEED, the car that I wanted instead of Focus, went from 24-25k, to 32k, which it's a huge increase...

I agree with you Chera, the Focus we eagerly await and who’s specifications we have admired and chosen, is for most of us a terrific deal. As you’ve said, if we were to say in a couple of months, that enough is enough, and look at other alternatives, there’s little or nothing out there with equivalent spec, features and performance for the price! That’s why we want to be driving them sooner rather than later!

I’m a big fan of the car, but Ford are largely oblivious to our plight…they have a bigger ‘focus’ (see what I did there!) with shafting workers across all factories and the upcoming electrification of the full range very soon…

Exactly...And if in a few months Ford decides to cancel our orders with no compensation for us, then the car that we'll pick will have inferior specs, at a higher price...It's really a shame...

The car I have (had?) deal Is over 30k now my price was aprox 23k for st vignale estate 155mhev.

For me the worst case scenario - I will buy out current lease at the end - active X mk4 hatch.

Can sell it with profit or just drive as shortage of cars and prices are just ridiculous atm.

Hi guys wanted to throw my 2p in.

Originally ordered end of Jan and told Sept/Oct delivery date but have just received word it'll be built this month or early July for a (likely) July delivery.

Unfortunately my situation has changed, so if anyone is interested give me a shout - I've put a for sale thread up on here.

Its an ST-Line Vignale Estate, 1.0 MHEV 155 DCT automatic in chrome blue. No other options other than the paint. Am gutted i won't be able to get my hands on it!!

That explains why it'll be build in July since it only has Sync 4 and no adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control or other extras....Good luck with your selling!

I’ve read and posted a few alarm bell ‘happenings’ at Ford factories in Europe…and it seems that some of the more alarming stories seem to be solidifying…..I’m waiting to hear from my supplier and, whilst trying to remain positive, I fear that with all the supply problems and production issues, that I might have to kiss goodbye to my ordered St-line Vignale 155 with all options apart from tow bar. Hope I’m wrong, but this spec uses up micro-chips like they’re going out of fashion!….😟

If anyone's after a chip-heavy Active Vignale 155 and doesn't mind sync 3 and the PFL bumper mine is still for sale with just 125 miles on the clock.  I'm not 'pushing' it at the minute as I don't need the hassle, but if anyone needs wheels and can't wait for factory build then I'd rather help someone out than leave it on the drive.

At this moment we don't know what to think...Maybe it's available for new orders only, I don't understand why's Ford doing this... 😞

Some cars with Sync 4 started to be built, but only those with no or few optionals..

How long does it typically take for a vehicle to arrive at a dealership from the moment it enters Ford's compound in Dagenham?

.....wouldn't like to say! - ordered one back in Jan and i know for a fact its been in the compound at least four weeks!!!....

Spoke with my dealer yesterday for an update. Vehicle currently in Dagenham awaiting a QC check.

Order date early Jan - ST Line Vignale 155, auto.

Rubbing shoulders with mine...... mine's been in the compound for weeks now, still waiting?!.

have you got yours yet?....

Crikey Simon that sounds like someone needs a good aarse kicking!

you’ve waited months in the dark about you car order, then you’re informed it’s in a compound and nobody has any urgency to get it prepped and ready for you…I’m finding that this whole car ordering/purchasing experience is a pile of schitt! You just couldn’t make it up!

Then we’ve got reports coming out about factories closing, reducing workers, stopping production, rationalisation of range/ quantity of output, and what’s missing is a statement that says that all existing orders will be fulfilled as a priority…

Then you look on Autotader etc and find dealers largely offering no deals, full list price… these are definitely strange times for motorists…I won’t even mention £2  litre! oops! Sorry!!

Aye! - but as you say l'm also find the whole car purchasing a little demoralising, it's just not how you would hope and think there business would be run?!!...

Very little input on dates expected for me from my dealer but they did say l'd done well, compered to others who'd ordered in Jan like me and they are still waiting to be built - never mind delivered!.

Would like to think l settled on a good deal when l ordered but it may of changed all now, willhave to wait more and see?....

I just tried asking Ford to check on my order for a Focus ST Line Vignale.  My order was placed October last year and I’ve heard nothing regarding possible build dates.  Their reply was that they can only check on orders placed up to September last year!  What the hell is that all about? 😳

I also asked Ford about my order but I still don't have an answer...I hope it'll not be the same as yours...

When you say you asked Ford, are you referring to your dealer, because my dealer has given me regular updates on my ST Line Vignale ordered on the 3rd February, latest last week was build date July.
