Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

Looking more like I may have somehow cooked the motherboard slots somehow.

Swapped primary slots back to the original 2x4gb modules and left 2x8gb modules in secondary slots but the system is still only showing 16gb useable.

System seems stable though, just a pain installing drivers and software again.

Gonna take forever. :(

Why not trade in your current steam powered model . . . & purchase a modern one more befitting of your status & considerable wealth Clive . . . :P

Oh, that's unfortunate.

The rig is less than a year old.

I've mislaid my camera's mini USB cable just as I need to transfer some photos :(

If Clive's relatively new rig is steam powered: that makes most of my 9 PCs - neolithic :P

Things I don't like (in fact HATE):

When your insurer refuses to cover you on such a trivial modification - changing sidelight bulbs to LED.

How ridiculous.

That's spectacularly ridiculous :o

Called them back, and argued my case. Seems there was some misunderstanding - I told them that the bulbs are fully road legal, and do not exceed the original manufacturer power specification (5W). They said as long as these two conditions are met, it should be fine.

Win. :)

Things I don't like - the death of Diesel - the police-dog that was killed in the line of duty in the Paris raids today. RIP buddy. :(

It is awful. Though his sacrifice was not in vain...

I hope some can take peace from the fact that he will be missed 1,000,000,000x more than the terrorist who was also killed.

Nor did I :(

Yes that happened on Wednesday. Poor thing, did his job though. :)

Twice on our walk, the dog and I encountered shattered glass on the pavement, for no apparent reason :(

Neither was the sort place where you might expect it to be, a semi-rural road, with no restaurants or bars

You realise the human race are morons right??

The dog agrees

Adding the outer parts of Wimborne are occupied by super morons, before the morning walk commences

O/S dipped beam bulb blown

I have a spare somewhere in the boot...except

a. The spare isn't a Nightbreaker

b. I've just loaded all of my kit into the boot ready for heading home!

I'll order some new Nightbreakers tomorrow and rummage in the boot for the old/spare bulb before I leave

Dagnabbit

Falling asleep in the armchair, in an awkward position, after my tea. Then awakening with both a headache and a stiff neck.

The first rule of bulb failure, is to fail at the least convenient time

Come on, we all know bulbs ONLY blow at the most inconvenient times. It is an unwritten rule.

Which reminds me, I need to order some spare bulbs for the Primera in case the worst should happen!

A chance to fall asleep would be a fine thing.

Seeing as this is a "don't like" thread, I can add it here:

INSOMNIA.

Along wipers failing, or in one of my most memorable wiper fail incidens, the nearside wiper flying off it's arm, on the M40, in freezing fog, at 1am, on Sunday. :o The nearest 24 hour service station, at the time and era (1990) being Chievely! Improvising with sock cabled tied over the arm; mainly to protect the windscreen from scratching.

A large tea of chicken and broccoli stew with herb dumplings, a few local bottled ales, and forgetting to turn the heating off, was the recipe for falling asleep in the armchair.

Good thinking! Our Fiesta had a couple of "bye bye wiper" instances where it just flew off. Fortunately at low speed meaning we could turn the wipers off and retrieve the blade.

Even that wouldn't dent my insomnia, but it sounds good nonetheless B)
