A historical statement was made that would pave the way for lasting peace.

But my 60th birthday isn't until Feb, not Dec. You got plenty of time to decide what gift.

So what are you hoping to receive for that?  I assume you're already dropping hints at home?

If its the same as anniversaries get a diamond

I got bottles of my favourite tipple for my 60th. Got them for my 61st too. Expecting the same for my 62nd in April 🙂

Not a bad idea.  Though my relative would be sapphire I think.  (I'm not actually related to Ian  )

There don't seem to be a any gem-set items for men other than cufflinks though.  Doubt he'd get any chance to use those.

I had been considering a watch with an engraved backplate.  Although a decent watch might be out of budget.  And I don't really know which websites offer engraved items as I can't travel anywhere to get it done separately.  I quite like the idea of green backed solar with large hands and numbers to be read easily without glasses...although obviously it's not for me!

Sounds like you're the ideal person to buy for!  My late Grandad was the same, enjoyed two very specific drinks, and two very specific hobbies, always easy to buy for.

That is a very tasty watch, I love watches and have several Citizen 'eco' ones, some now over 25 years old, still run great and charge up to, 'H'...

This is one of my favourites, a Casio GWG 1000 G shock.

Tie pin if you wear a tie, or get your dentist to mount one in a front tooth.

There's some idiots on the road even on a Sunday morning. M1 Going north ,partner driving at the speed limit and 2 cars went past us side by side as if  we were stopped. Must have been doing at least twice speed limit. Bonkers.

Maybe they were both EV's in a race to get to the only working charging station 🤣

Probably two diesels trying to complete a DPF regen in midwinter. 🤭

In 45 years Never had a diesel

In 15 years I've owned 21 diesels. 😮

Only 5 of them had DPF's though. And in fairness, only one of them had major DPF issues.

(Also owned 16 petrol's lol)

Can't beat that number of oil burners, but I've had 2 Citroens, 2 Rovers, a Saab, a Land Rover, 2 Audis and 2 Ford diesels. Some of my most enjoyable, reliable and certainly economical, motoring. Lost count of the petrols, got it written down somewhere!😀

Neither diesels, petrol BMWw by the sound of it and one of those electric cars( Tesla)

Who hates these mega bright LED lights on certain cars ? Some really blind us at night and it's become a joke, last night we came across a car, lights so bright it was lighting up the inside of our car, it was like a reenactment of Dreyfuss in his wagon being lit up by the alien craft out the film ''Close Encounters'', so I decided to bang on our high beams, oncoming car then banged on their high beams! It was unreal and we nearly drove into a field, couldn't see for sh*it, I turned mine off but they left theirs on.

Does that mean you didn't have any of them long enough to go wrong? 😃

Sadly not.   Most of them were sold/scrapped as they turned out to be lemons!

(And tbf, some were bought as stopgaps/breakers/donors)

Flying the Union Flag/Jack upside-down! I'm not a huge unionist/Royalist etc but if you're going to the bother of flying a flag, at least check if it's the right way up!

Spotted on Sun,Sea and Selling Houses on Channel 4, boils my p### every time I see it!

Perhaps they were signalling distress?😀

The BBC did exactly that a few years ago, other press jumped on them like hungry wolves.

Quite right! Imagine if an American broadcaster flew the American flag upside-down 😲 I realise that the American flag is easier to spot if it's upside-down though.

Now, did Gary Linekar start a petition to get it turned round the right way? 🤣

  • 3 weeks later...

On the one day my partner needs my car to take her mother home 100miles away, the 12v battery packs up at hotel where her mother was staying!! Typical on my first day back at work yesterday. The day just got progressively worse as the day went on.
