Things I Don't Like

The irony is, yes, they may be heated. But, where does that energy come from?? LOL

Not really ironic.  Energy always comes from somewhere.  Every time you use the heater in a petrol car you're wasting petrol on it.  In fact, people are so weak and lazy nowadays they waste petrol on an electric starter motor just to get it going!

Unfortunately petrol cars are so inefficient and waste so much energy on useless heat that the designers had to fool people into thinking that was a good thing...

"Well yes, it's only 30% efficient, but at least the heater will be hot"

Tom, you will still never persuade me that 5 minutes spent of fully refueling a petrol car, no matter how inefficient, is worse that the time spent recharging an EV 🤣

EVs work best when you have somewhere like a driveway or garage. Then the car is always fully charged in the morning. You effectively spend no time refuelling because it does it while you sleep. Long trips you just charge when you stop for food and a break anyway.

Sounds like you're getting ready to move the ST on to pastures new and get yourself a shiny new EV 🤔

EV fans seem obsessed with stopping for meal/coffee breaks LOL I'm old, I just soldier on without the need to sit down for an hour, buying overpriced cr*p at a garage 🤣

I have absolutely no desire to persuade you to buy an EV.

Purely to add some objective balance to the idea that ICE cars are 'better' just because that's what we've got used to.

I don’t have a garage and my driveway is shared with my neighbours. It’s too expensive to put a post and run a long cable out to a charger.

But I was surprised how well the EV worked for my friend. The instant torque of the electric motor is the same torquey response I like from my ST.

For now I’ll be hanging on and enjoying the manual ST. But to me an EV is a much nicer prospect to drive than a hybrid with underpowered engine and slush box auto or CVT. I’d rather make the jump over that.

We never stopped for more than half an hour and it was when we always used to stop for food in his old ICE car. It literally made no difference to our 3.5 hr journey to the airport.

was it not on some car prog with a mk2 jag or the like and it had an electric fan to keep the battery cool on a bimetallic strip, possibly car SOS or Brewer and China

I don't like the BS around this is better than that blah blah blah. Haven't folk got better things to do with their time?

EV's have their place. ICE cars have their place. Hybrid cars have their place. Its that simple 🫠

Sadly, it's not as simple as that. I 100% agree with you. They all have their place, and all our circumstances are different. What I detest is that government are mandating us to eventually have NO choice! That is the issue. Government should keep their nose out of such things...

It should be that simple - and would be, if left to the market without government interference.

Sadly tree huggers are driving the agenda.

I don't like that in 2024, SKY still think it's a legitimate charge to make customers pay £9/month (£108/year) for HD! I suppose we should be grateful they don't charge us for colour...

no the goverment does that

Don't you have TV licence in NI?  We DO have to pay more for colour!

No, we don't have the TV license here. As part of being left in the EU, it was deemed an 'unfair monopoly practice' and abandoned.

OK LOL, that was just my imagination running riot, sadly yes, we help pay Gary Linekar's massively overinflated salary too. Still makes me sick that over 9000 license payments go straight into his bank account!

You need to look on the positive side of things 🤔

When the license is increased  very shortly, it will take less of them to pay the BBC parasite 🤣

You can cancel the TV license and send them a denial of access to your property, its a legal loophole. It DOES work, state you only watch NON live TV on any device.

This is the actual legal framework. If you watch any 'live' TV (not just BBC), which I do, you'll need one...

Had to give up on ever finding my lost key fob. A local vehicle locksmith has just sorted out a replacement for me. Initially shook his head and said ''oooh that's a proximity key, not a transponder key''. Took 30 mins.

£174.00 inc VAT for one aftermarket fob, no spare key blade, battery already showing low. Asked about supplying a spare fob at the same time but declined because they wanted another £110 plus vat.

Not happy, but at least I can use the car again.

Technically it's both.  Might be worth removing the battery and trying it in the emergency position to make sure he did code the chip as well as the keyless part.

He'd better had after shelling out so much! His box of tricks looked far more impressive than my Forscan cable 😀

I have some spare batteries and will try your suggestion once it stops hissing down.

Please test your 'spare' battery first, it should be punching out 3.3v, if less, treat yourself to a new one.
