The trip from Glasgow to Kirkwall has more tales than the whole 10 days in Spain! 🙄

Day 3 of our extended holiday!

Kirkwall airport shut early again today so no flights. Booked into the hotel we were in on Monday night. Booked for flight home tomorrow afternoon but not looking hopeful again!

This trip seems like a mixture of The Terminal, Groundhog Day and The Eagles song Hotel California!

Had to go into Glasgow today for medication that I had ran out of and some socks and boxers 😀

No snow in Glasgow but here's back home.

Have you thought of giving Simon Calder a call, he'd get you home! 🤣

Unless he has a private helicopter I doubt it! 😀

Back to searching for the fob now 😕

Was too embarrassed to say but now I need to own up. I found the fob at the last minute and cancelled the locksmith appointment.

Bad move, I've lost it again before getting off my *****.

The intention was to a) purchase a device to find the key if I mislaid it and b) buy a back up spare.

Failed miserably. If I could kick myself harder I would 😢

Ps. It's not me losing the fob, it's my long standing poltergeist/mischievous imp who thinks this is fun.

Day 4....... I think!

LM432 due to leave Glasgow 1415.

We've got through security, furthest we've got in 4 days, pensively watching the departures board for the dreaded 'Cancelled' notification.

Home at last!!!! 😀

I don't like driving the Focus today for the first time in a fortnight and discovering that one of the front brakes are sticking!!! 🙄

Given the recent temps, at least the battery worked!

Was it just me or did anyone else enjoy the recent national news coverage EVs having charging issues because the temperature dropped below freezing? Apparently AA/RAC gave out advice to use the heater/heated windscreen sparingly to increase range 🤣

Strange how an article based in the  cold usa is translated to murky and mild(in comparison) UK . Very hot  Norway ( currently -19c)  has the largest percentage of EVs and they obviously have a little more common sense than the us EV population. They carry on ok as normal charging  with even with snow on the roads!! Imagine that!! Driving on snow!! Good job we don't have cold weather or snow. Country would grind to a halt 🤣🤣🤣

My car is happy to charge in the UK cold, have the heaters /windscreen heater on as I please  Maybe slight  loss of range, not that I need 270-300miles every journey. Car is toasty warm and defrosted before I get out of bed every morning.

They might have a lot of EV's but that doesn't mean they actually work in the cold. Just check out the EV buses in Oslo to see how well they cope in the cold.

My best mate is Norwegian, we went out in his e208 in -30 C no problem.

Used a public charger in that temp too.

Range is about 75% of that in summer.

Yes Norway is effin cold but so are other countries. And yes Norway is an intelligent country and has embraced the culture of EV vehicles but they are basically a one of a kind. This video however is a factual one and info sent in by those in the 'other' effin cold countries. Enjoy 😁

mines been a bit sluggish kicking over.

Many decades ago, when the transistor radio I used to listen to Radio Luxumebourg ran out, I often would set the PP9 battery on a radiator for a bit to get more 'charge' out of it. Batteries simply contain a chemistry set of stuff, which is temperature sensitive, when it's cold, they don't work as well as when it's warm...

Just wondering what size radiator you would need to park a Tesla on 🤣

That will do nicely 👍 😀

Many EV batteries are heated...

They're mostly water cooled so it's easy enough to stick a small immersion heater (basically a glow plug) into that coolant circuit to turn it into a heater circuit when necessary.

The irony is, yes, they may be heated. But, where does that energy come from?? LOL
