Tried to source, couldn't find. Still a pair of brand new handles were £12 Inc p&p, so not extortionate.

Yep, that's the ones, still, 2 x brand new handles weren't that expensive, certainly alot shinier than the originals LOL

I'm too tight to pay for Prime.  I'll only buy things from Amazon if they add up to £25 for the free delivery.

I order, sign up, then cancel, they've not caught on YET !

I'm genuinely amazed so many of us seem to have the same door handles!

But yes, I have ordered a new pair of tap handles from eBay.  Should be here tomorrow hopefully.

Just had an email to say my Amazon parcel is out for delivery...  Thought I was going mad. Just checked and it was definitely purchased through eBay!

I too have had Ebay orders shipped via Amazon, very annoying when I have a personal policy never to touch that insidious company!

It's that car insurance renewal time again. Time for comparison sites visiting.

Remember if you have trouble getting quotes just give Dan a shout 🤣

After checking all the comparison sites and others not on them. My current insurer is still the cheapest. Have to accept the 70% increase. At least the legal services protection is included this year at no cost🤔🤔

You'll maybe find that the eBay 'seller' is just buying them on Amazon and getting them shipped to your address.

Last time I had that happen (it was a magnifying glass) it was exactly the same price to the penny on Amazon, so unsure how any profit would have been made. I think that the 'seller' simply sells them on Amazon but also uses Ebay as a mirror shop, but maybe they get a better deal on shipping via Amazon...

I keep getting emails from Amazon telling me I'm eligible for a business account! 🤷 They show an item and how much I could save if I bought it through this account. Last one was a rucksack I was thinking about buying (Ryanair carry on size 😀) and I could save 50p on the £30 purchase.

I get these every single day or similar ones mentioning VAT.
The thing is, whilst I have an Amazon account, I don't pay for the Prime subscription.

Seems like 'Amazon Shipping' is a new delivery service that can be used by any seller regardless of the retail outlet.

The tap handles didn't fit anyway.  Spline section is different to the old ones.  Have ordered another set now.

Not worth returning the others due to return postage costs.

@TomsFocus couldn't you just change the valve/cartridge out of the old tap and replace it with the new one?

The water can't be turned off as the mains tap is also faulty.

This property wasn't built with internal isolators either.  If I did have the taps changed, I'd have the full thing changed with individual isolator tails so that faults like this could be repaired in 5 minutes in future.

Internal isolators should be mandatory! My own house,  built 30+ years ago has every tap fitted with them, and toilet cisterns, at my own specs...

Hopefully you specced better quality than the normal type! In my experience because they don't get used much, when you do need to use them, they are siezed solid and the tap bit breaks when you try and get a bit of pressure on it! 🙄😀

Those plastic levers are a terrible idea.  This is the type I'd prefer.  Probably still worth going round the property once a year turning them off and on to keep them free though.

Made4Trade

A bit more expensive but you know they'll work when you need them 👍

Good advice about turning them on and off occasionally.

Some things I don't like today.

First one is that I'm probably losing one of my best friends over a misunderstanding and a message that didn't send 2 weeks ago.
I've known the person for 17 years and I don't want to lose them.

The next 2 are from the weekend whilst I was at the railway.
Second one is that I have upset another volunteer a few weeks ago but not knowing why I have upset them.

Third one is that a complaint had been received about a video which had been taken at the railway. I had been told that it was one of my videos but was not told which one. This information came to me 3rd hand.
Unfortunately, it appears that it was one of my videos and it contained some inappropriate language. Having checked videos I had uploaded, there was one video which did contain a bad word which I had not picked up on during editing last year (it was one of my first videos from there).
Also unfortunately, this was a video that I shared with the railway and allowed them to post it on social media (I didn't upload it to YouTube until earlier this year).

As a result of this, I have temporarily taken down all videos made by me at the railway until I can be sure that no other videos contain language or inappropriate conversation even though my latest videos (cab rides) were heavily edited and censored.
I also posted disclaimers at the start of the cab ride videos which stated all opinions are of the individuals and not those of the railway.
It really bothers me that I may have caused some upset and brought some disrepute to the lovely railway.

#1 if you've offered an apology then the balls in their court

#2 again their problem

#3 the goalposts continually move as to what's acceptable and what's not

The result is there's not a lot you can do if you've taken steps to resolve. Shrug your shoulders and move on.

Thanks Jimpster.

Yes, I will give the friend time as they have asked for.

For the second one, I will have to find out when the person in on shift and see if I can talk to them about things because I don't want our work environment to be or feel toxic. Being honest, the situation has affected my mental health.

As for the third issue with the videos, I asked for the video to be removed from their social media and it has now been taken down.
I'm slowly going back through all my other videos on YouTube (some of which are 40+ minutes) to make sure that nothing else has slipped through the editing process.
I'll be putting the videos back up on my channel once I can be sure that they are suitable for viewing.

As for the third issue with the videos...

You have to remember that folk these days have nothing better to do than complain as the process has become so much easier with social media etc. I always quote the example of Jonathan Ross and Russel Brand in 2009 with that infamous on air prank with Andrew Sachs.

At the time of transmission, it received 2 complaints. 2 weeks later, the number had risen to 50,000 as people all jumped on the bandwagon, just virtue signalling that they were caused offense! They didn't even hear it when aired!

I would ignore any comments, you will NEVER please all the people... Wouldn't lose a seconds sleep over it!
