Sarc
My car is just great. I only had to wait 5 days from ordering so I can't relate you all you waiters, it's my first brand new car. Previously I had a 1.1 106 then a 1.4 106, so to be honest they don't even compare I've driven a fair few motors though and the Fiesta is definitely my fave. The ride is amazing, gear changes ares super smooth and most importantly cos I'm very tall, the driving position is so comfortable. I get ankle cramp after 5 mins in my Mum's Ka, but in the Fiesta it's not an issue! It's just a pleasure to drive really, I'm so excited for all you lot to get yours :D '5 days' - blimey that was quick. :o This will be my first ever brand new car as well, which explains why I'm not used to all this waiting. It sounds like it's a dream to drive though, and the driving positioning also sounds great. (I hate being hunched up - much prefer to have plenty of leg-room). I've owned a Mk4 and Mk5 Fiesta in the past, though my present car, (which I'm putting in under the scrappage scheme) is a old Renault Megane. I'm sure the new Fiesta will far out-class any of them though. Happy motoring. :) Sarc.

paulworthing
What do I need to check the etis site - never really paid much attention to the threads before as it did not seem much point And not sure about the Y cable - might just buy a nice USB stick so I can leave it in the car when it is parked up
TonyEssex
ford etis tells you where your car is, I never used it, but if you experiencing delays at least you can see where the hold up is
paulworthing
Checked with the dealer today and the system is saying delivery to them week commencing 31 August (although last week that did slip, temporarily back to week ending 12 September)

paulworthing
The dealer did tell me that he converted one that they actually ordered on the 28/29 May
TonyEssex
ok but i see your build date was 18th august while mine and dans were the 17th, so maybe you just have a day longer to wait
DanGull
Indeed, say there was a shipment leaving on the 18th - our cars would have made it but yours would have to wait for the next boat, which could well be a week later.
paulworthing
Ya not helping . . . . . TonyEssex
I will have pics on Tuesday afternoon......hopefully, probably get a call now from dealer that there was a storm overnight and a tree crushed my car :( question do i go for a sneaky look down at the dealership to see if i can see the car? would it be held inside the showroom or be out in the parking lot?
paulworthing
Well I guess it'll be downto when you are expecting delivery and what spec you have gone for - if it is going to be a good showroom model then you might get it in the showroom although I would guess it is more likley to be in the parking lot

Nightowl
question do i go for a sneaky look down at the dealership to see if i can see the car? would it be held inside the showroom or be out in the parking lot? Yes Tony - if you can manage to - pop down to the dealer after hours (when it shuts) & you should see it parked up somewhere outside (they're never inside as showroom space is very valuable & yours will probably be one of several cars awaiting pick-up/collection). I say this because when I bought my Citroen C2 VTR 3 years ago new - I popped along to the Citroen dealer 2 nights before & it was parked-up outside (under cover) alongside the main showroom. As it was September and the evening light still good (don't go in the pitch black!) - this gave me the opportunity to examine the car with a fine tooth comb - every single inch! I noticed on the front passenger door a very small 'ding' - not big but about the size of a new 5p coin - where the door had been opened against something (probably the transporter delivering it). There's no way I would have seen this on collection day in all honesty because it was fairly hard to see...but noticeable all the same. I pointed this out to the saleswoman the day I collected the car & she arranged for a mobile 'dent' specialist to come out & remedy it. He did a lot of work for Mercedes apparently, was superb at his job & you just couldn't see where he'd repaired the small dent - amazing. Anyway - my advice would be pop along if you can - early evening after they've all gone home - and examine the car all round for any faults with the paintwork, trim, etc. Well worth it. paulworthing
Have to say that my new Mini Mayfair when I brought that was a well specced up car (B935 GPN so a long time ago now) and that ended up in the showroom for the few days while I was waiting for the delivery so you never know . . . And come to think of it my MINI Convertible was in the showroom too as it was one of the first convertibles in the UK to have the Aerokit fitted so that looked awsome too
Nightowl
When my new Fiesta finally gets delivered (*cough) - my dealer has a large lock-up compound where all the new cars are delivered & kept at night. This means I can't get in to have a good look all round beforehand. Bummer. I have contemplated blacking out my face, donning commando gear & scaling the fence SAS-style in order to 'recce the target' - in this case a Squeeze, 3-door, fully dressed-up assault vehicle! Knowing my luck - I'll get eaten alive by 2 huge German shepherds!!!
Bashful
Yeah mine was in a lock up yard, although it was open during the day and I wandered in and saw my car sitting there it was so exciting cos I didn't know it had arrived!
