, but in recent months the law has changed for country roads, they used to have a speed limit, but now they dont, government says its up to the locals how fast they go on them  so those videos i upload are 100% legal

Oh wow! I must bring the ST over there that sounds like the Lind of law I like. If only we could get that here I would be a very happy driver

Update:

After searching on Adverts.ie I decided to to give the Levin

back its flare,

Back in the Levin’s home town all vehicles carry an

emergency fire flare, most commonly found in the passenger footwell the flare

is supposed to be used in the event of breakdown or accident in a forest area

or unlit tunnel in japan, it will alert other road users of the incident ahead,

IMG_20140322_170718_zpsouclfxyv.jpg

IMG_20140322_170641_zpsu3rcpjfz.jpg

IMG_20140322_170613_zpszhgwbskv.jpg

IMG_20140322_165804_zps6o5zzruo.jpg

These flares are generally removed upon either export or

import as they fall under the category of fire arms in some country’s but some escape

inspection and arrive in to the country but generally there resale value drastically

increases as result of there rarity,

I never plan to use it; I have it for JDM authenticity adding

to the vehicles originality,

However im kicking myself now;

As last January I found a seller on eBay selling the clips

which hold the flare in the passenger’s side foot well, I didn’t add the

sellers listing to my eBay watch list because I never expected to get my hands

on a flare,

I’m now in search of those two clips, im going to check with

Toyota next week to see if they can still be purchased

Here are some pictures, quite heavy around 700g

Had the NCT National Car Test last Thursday evening,

failed on three items,

One of which I have a few questions on sorting,

Lets start with Thursday morning,

I took the car out for petrol, put in 500ml of Redex and

50ltrs of premium Topaz petrol,

Took it for a good motorway sprint J

Then home,

Later that day I went for the NCT

IMG_20140320_180015_zps53cda319.jpg

IMG_20140320_180008_zps9bf8644b.jpg

I had the engine running for 20 minutes prior to the test,

It then went in and failed it test firstly on the CO

emissions

IMG_20140320_183011_zpsfcb7754e.jpg

It passed at low idle (910rpm)

Engine oil Temp 82oC

CO 0.01 Vol %

HC45ppm

Failed then at high

rev (3,220rpm)

Lambda 0.97

CO 0.95 Vol %

HC71ppm

The CO limit at high rpm is 0.3VOl% and I’m coming in at 0.95VOl%

The tester recons it’s the catalyst that’s causing the high

CO

The exhaust is brand new stainless steel from the cat back, the

lambda is brand new Genuine Toyota but the catalyst is second hand and at least

14 years old so could it be the catalyst that is causing the high CO percentage

at what the call high rpm?

http://s575.photobucket.com/user/lennymanwoods/media/IMG_20140320_214752_zps77a4a7db.jpg.html]IMG_20140320_214752_zps77a4a7db.jpg

]IMG_20140320_214748_zps1e63353d.jpg

It then failed the headlight alignment,

Low beam on the drivers side is slightly lower than it

should be an easy fix,

Followed by going up on the lift,

]IMG_20140320_183108_zps8b30b07c.jpg

]IMG_20140320_183110_zpsf6785533.jpg]

Where it failed on the drivers side front CV boot,

it has a small tare in the rubber,

Again an easy fix because i can see the issue,

Everything else was fine,

So to summarise,

3 problems,

High CO emissions,

Low beam headlight alignment out,

Tare in front drivers side CV boot

Any help on lowering the CO percentage guys?

Think I’ll need to change the cat,

Car backfires a little when dropping gears coming off the

motorway pops a little so im thinking it must be the cat?

I’ll be offline now for a few days guys but all opinions

appreciated cheers, :)

Defo sounds cat related, lambda replaced and old cat, definitely seems related...

Does it have a pcv valve and Maf ?, is throttle body and all breathers clean also, all this would help. have you put you airfilter in more air better. then theres the cat.

On the flare Lenny, is it wise to cruise around Ireland in a car that could be seen as driven by lets say a chemical substance engineer, (my good that's you aint it), with a firearm in it, I would also be worried if someone knocked it and set it off inside. Ive heard of fire extinguishers in cars but not fire starters LOL.

Hi guys,

Stoney is correct, as I told him as part of conversation via Pm the other day,

You see the Levin’s stereo has an AUX port which I thought

bi was being clever using it to stream music straight from YouTube on to the

Speakers of the car, as result ive used up my gig of data for the month within

two weeks,

The internet at home is also down for the next week,

At present my only internet access is in work on tea breaks,

I too miss the online fun and banter, currently trying to

find some ways to pass the time and substitute the fun, I’ve tried watching TV

but its all one sided interaction there’s no room for input lol so last night

for example I done 9 laps of a 5 exit roundabout on the way home

from work last night trying to perfect my Scandinavian drift which after the 4th

lap was becoming pretty consistent for around 160 degrees of the circle,

untitled_zps3672c37a.png

middle of nowhere off the motorway in the country side so im disturbing no one

I’ll give it another try tonight, the super strut suspension makes the car so rigid,

it throws out easily I’m in 3rd gear at 50kmh quick flick of the

wheel and whoop she goes, the Super strut means the wheel is on a spring but

the chassis is pure solid on a double upper and lower control arm, just the

wheel bounces on springs so there’s no lean on the body and no feel of losing

grip until its gone,

All quiet on the progress front at present,

have a meeting tomorrow to make some dates certain for august,

myself and vicki are getting married in late august of this year

I’ve re-booked the MOT retest for 20th April I’ve

gotta purchase the cat, CV boot and get the headlight alignment done before

then,

thats all the news from me at present, ill be back online Thursday 03rd April at the latest,

Stay safe yawl talk soon :P

Can't you change the wedding date to early August Lenny. Then you could bring Vicki to Ford Fair for your honeymoon, lol

marrage helps with the tax though as i can claim her tax credits  and shir the babby will keep her busy while im at work :P

thanks mate,

i think its the cat but ill get the manifold and flanges checked,

i had bought the current cat second hand but seems its not working as i can smell some vapours and she back fires after a consistant motorway run,

when i come off the accelerator in the slip road exiting the motor way she gives out a "pung Pung" "pum Pum"

The place only opens 6 days a week so I can’t possibly do anymore George

I’m dreading the hormonal posts

she’s going to kill you when she gets back online next week either tuesday or thursday

Shes a great mother though, at this point in time I don’t think this Levin project will achieve its full potential as initially planned mate,

I’m now saving for the wedding in august so all modification has ceased with the exception of the parts required to pass the MOT in early April,

The Levin has been and still is a huge barrel of laughs but it’s going to get me in a lot of trouble with the law or killed to be completely honest

because I cant stop myself when it comes to bendy roads or BMW drivers filling the rear view mirror I find myself dropping gears and going for it, had a few

hairy scenarios in recent weeks involving bends dropping gears and fish tailing yeah all fun but if grip was completely lost my rear drivers side would be

slapped head on by an oncoming driver,

It’s such a spontaneous motor in any gear there’s more than sufficient power, and mixed with me a spontaneous driver it’s a recipe for disaster,

After the news in recent days regarding the additional babby and writing out a wedding planner schedule I think I’ll be getting her through the MOT,

spraying the boot panel and selling her on either as an unfinished project for driving or a clean model for breaking purposes,

either in the coming months or keep it until November where then i can retest it 3 months in advance of its due date in january and sell it on then with a full years MOT

Get myself VW polo or something small from around 2002 and keep it standard, ill be a father of 3 now soon its time for me to hang up the sparco shoes

I’m going to B&Q tomorrow buying a plasma cutter and I’m gonna mince up that multi position step ladder good and propper Damn You lidl Damn you…..

That’s where I bought the ladder FYI

It would make a good advert for Lidl lol, Your better off keeping safe and well and lead a more sedate life style mate, I'm the same as you, when I have a fast motor I have to push it and me constantly, my mates cant believe I still have the focus but I am planning on getting another 4x4 as I've been going greenlaning with mates, took us 4.5 hours last Sunday to do 0.75 miles, it was fun though and if I cant go fast rather go slow and anywhere I like, roads or not. ;)

My focus aint going anywhere though as our lass is getting it and I will sell hers, after all I got the estate to carry the dogs.

Ps

My last polo was a 2001 6n2 and It was like a go cart lol, but the most modified one at that.

Pss

you getting to old for Sparco shoes anyway mate, a good pair of slippers will be more comfy :P

Psss

Vicki will have other things on her mind and forget about killing me lol, she will prob be killing you PMSL

+1 for getting the car with Terraclean. From the bit of research I did, older cars would benefit greatly from it. Might get some of those ponies that were lost over the years as well. It's not that expensive either.

I know someone who had his engine done with Terraclean, one weeks later it blew up, nowt to do with the clean it wasn't running right for a while and clasping at straws got it done, complete waste of money in his case as he had engine swapped out.
