zain611
Thought this might be a fun one but what is your car history? I've only owned 2 cars for the 3 years of driving. My first car was a Peugeot 107 which had a 1 litre petrol engine. Nice little car with just £20 tax. Back when I used to drive to college I'd only paid £20 for petrol every 3 weeks. Put LED reverse light (only one reverse light it had), interior light, number plate lights and front sidelights. Also fitted parking sensors. I remember putting on these wheel trims as the current ones were badly kurbed. Also fitted a OEM rev counter and OEM glove box lid The problems I had were: leaking radiator, catalytic converter leaking, changed the original factory battery and clutch. The parts on the car were cheap. Clutch was about £37 and this was the updated one as the face-lift had a slightly bigger clutch plate. Last year sold that. Was happy the guy was happy with it and showed him the receipts and pictures of the work done. He got it for his daughter as she wrote off her first car after just 6 months of driving. Two months before I got my fiesta zetec s. Next got my mk6 fiesta zetec s 1.6 TDCi. Sadly the previous owner lied about work being done on the car which did upset me and put me off the car for a few months. Problems I've had with it were a leaking injector and one of the brake fluid pipes broke during MOT inspection so had to change that. Till now it drives nicely and is more powerful but as cheap to run as the peugeot. Have done a lot of subtle mods to it as I feel the exterior looks good the way it is and is a rare example. Got into machine polishing and did that on the fiesta. Paintwork looks like new now. Just a few dents letting the car down.
TomsFocus
Well, I've had a few over the years...looks like I've broken the 30 mark now... 😮 306 - '97 1.4 Miami, had manual windows and mirrors, no central locking but an electric sun roof! No ABS, felt generally unsafe and very poverty. 306 - '01 1.4 Meridian, much more spec...but the headgasket popped and blew a rad hose 2 weeks after purchase, plus many suspension issues, decided not to buy another from a dealer! 306 - '01 1.4 Meridian, lovely dark blue colour, few mods, bought from a forum member...killed 2 gearboxes then the rear brake drum locked on a 60mph blind bend, ideal. 306 - '01 1.8 Meridian, bit more power this time, bought as a cheap stop gap with no service history...or oil or coolant lol... Most reliable car I'd had, but only 35mpg! This was the turn to the dark side of diesel... Golf - '01 1.9 GT TDI 130...loads more torque, turbo boost, 60mpg, comfort and a few toys... Blew loads of coal until I replaced the split intercooler lol. But it was only a 3dr and I needed a 5dr. Golf - '02 1.9 GT TDI 180...5dr practicality and first car I'd had with cruise and climate...of course the AC was broken though! Modified it, then broke the turbo, DMF, camshaft and lifters, couldn't justify repairs, broke it up for parts. 106 - '98 1.4D Zest 2, horribly dangerous, unbearably slow being a non turbo diesel, no spec, bought from a mate of a mate as stop gap while replacing the Golf turbo, did 70mpg and even towed my trailer though. Vectra - '99 2.0 CDX Auto, bought from a part time dealer as a stop gap after the Golf died completely, waterpump failed within 20 miles, returned for a full refund Avensis - 1.8VVTi Verona, bought instead of the Vectra, not a bad car tbh, did over 40mpg, huge dent in the wing from previous owner and the interior was very Jap (cheap!) 306 - '00 2.0 HDi Meridian estate, I put a clutch in this for a mate so he let me borrow it for free, felt like a major decline after the Golfs, liked the estate practicality though 306 - '00 2.0 HDi Meridian estate, mate wanted his back so I bought my own, in blue of course, mapped it and lowered it etc...used it as a workhorse and it literally fell apart, broke for parts Vectra - '06 1.9 CDTi 150 Design, first decent car, nice spec...snapped a spring coming off my drive the day I bought it, ruined a brand new tyre, never could trust it afterwards 306 - '00 2.0 HDi DTurbo, bought during Vectra ownership as a cat D write off, broke it for parts, made a nice profit 306 - '00 1.8 Meridian, bought as a stop gap to sell the Vectra...too thirsty though, same as the last time I bought a 1.8 306! 306 - '00 2.0 HDi DTurbo, bought from a long term forum member knowing it was high mileage...his idea of 'drives fine' was very different to mine, had to replace the clutch and rear suspension and it still felt like a high miler 306 - '00 2.0 HDi DTurbo, bought as front impact donor for the above one, paid less for the whole car with a freshly refurbished rear beam than a beam refurb would've cost! 306 - '99 2.0 HDi Meridian, bought with snapped cambelt, put the engine from the above donor in it and used this one for a while as it didn't feel as bad as the high miler I was using 107 - '13 1.0 Envy...huge mistake, most expensive car I ever bought at the time,, only 1 year old, purely looked at running costs and reliability, ride was so rough I couldn't drive it out of town, main dealer had lied about various things, returned it within a week, decided not to buy from a main dealer again Focus - '08 1.6 TDCi 110 Titanium, had the X pack, full leathers, xenons, tints, PF mirrors, panther black...very nice car, shame about the DPF! Turned out the DPF was blocked when I bought it but didn't know about them at the time, also had tracking miles out with ruined tyres and no reverse lights...decided not to buy another from an indy dealer, there's a pattern here lol. Kept it for 3.5 years though, and I do miss it tbh, if only they'd put an economical petrol in the Mk2.5s I'd have another straight away. 306 - '99 2.0 GTi-6, bought during Focus ownership so as not to get bored with the Focus, nice little project, had been wanting one since my first 306. Sold it to get the deposit for moving out 206 - '02 2.0 DTurbo HDi, bought as spares or repair, fixed and sold for the same reason as above 106 - '02 1.4D Zest 2, bought spares or repair but was too involved for me, sold on at a loss, fail. 306 - '01 2.0 HDi Meridian Estate, bought as spares or repair to try and recoup the losses above, broke it for parts, only just broke even, times had changed, online fees and courier costs etc. Fiesta - '03 1.4 Zetec Climate, saw this 2 weeks after I moved out on eBay at the end of my road as spares and repair, fixed and sold...only broke even again S40 - '02 1.9TD Sport, bought to use while the Focus DPF was 'repaired' and ECU mapped. Too much boot behind the rear axle and ditchfinders on the rear meant lots of terrifying drifting with tools in the back of this saloon lol. It also smelt horrific, I'll never forget the smell of this car! 306 - '98 2.0 GTi6, getting bored of the Focus and working on my mates 306 Rallye made me want another, turned out to have quite a few issues, clutch failed a couple of weeks in so lost trust in it Fiesta - '08 ST150, swapped for the GTi6 with a mate, nice enough car tbh, ride was a bit hard for me though. Had a weird instance of the whole electrical system failing so I lost trust in that as well, sold at a loss, decided to not buy any more cars ever... Focus - '12 1.6 TDCi 115 Titanium, new MOT DPF regs forced me to change the Mk2 Focus so I bought this thinking it'd be similar but better, how wrong I was...broken AC, jerky clutch and jumpy engine, electrical faults, generally horrible car, don't miss it at all A3 - '04 2.0 TDI Sport, bought this at the start of summer for the ice cold air con and so I could take it to VAG shows, climate, cruise, nav etc, but turned out the ride was too rough for me to drive it further than the local shops, major fail. Mondeo - '06 2.2 TDCi Ghia - mates Dad was going to scrap it due to limp mode, I bought it for scrap value, fixed it and sold on for £300 profit, not much compared to the losses on the Mk3 Focus and A3 though Golf - '12 2.0 TDi Match Bluemotion Tech, bought this cheap to use while I sold the Focus & A3 and scrape as much money together as I can to get something decent...currently having DPF issues and struggling to find anything decent and petrol within my budget and criteria, so will inevitably chose another car which won't suit my needs and carry on this cycle...
Simon_K
No pictures of most of mine but... Mk1 Escort estate. Was originally navy blue but I hand painted it in black smoothrite. Mk5 Cortina 1.6L. (Beige). Bought from a mate but it was way too thirsty. Mk2 Astra van 1.7D. (Black). Nice car, should never have sold it and bought... Opel Manta 1.8 Berlinetta. (Metallic poo brown but I insisted on calling it bronze). A myriad of problems, mostly head gasket and blocked radiator (which my useless mechanic chose not to fix properly). Citroen AX 1.1. (Red). Nice little car, surprisingly nimble. Fitted the GT kit to it! Mk3 Cavalier 1.6L (Blue). Dull. Mk5 Escort Ghia 1.8 16V. (Tourmaline green). Decent car, went really well. Fitted the RS2000 kit to this and then someone stole the side skirts in the middle of the night (and tore the fibreglass getting them off so probably couldn’t use them after). Vectra 1.8 Sxi. (Black). Not bad, but like the cavalier before, dull. Gearbox blew up on the A38 on way home from the Lake District, £2000 repair bill then a certain stainless exhaust supplier killed the ECU by welding without protection or disconnecting the battery. Eventually got some money back but the experience talking to their MD was so bad I’ll never use them again. VW T4. 1.8TD. Originally blue but I handlainted it NATO green (a pattern emerges). Bought on a whim, loads of faults but managed to get it through 8 years of ownership. Freelander 2.0TDI. (Silver). A lot better than its reputation suggests. Nice drive and the BMW engine went ok. Was starting to show it’s age(15), so p/x against my Focus. Mk2 Focus Estate 1.6TDCI (Black). Touch wood, no issues apart from a cooked alternator. Flew through it’s mot last week. Almost a homecoming, at least I don’t have to paint this one with hammerite... Still cant leave well alone.

Nick Y
I don't have photos of any of my other cars but here goes my list. 1st car I bought in 2002 at 18 was a black 3 door 1996/7 P plate 1.2l Renault Clio costing £3000 with 27k on the clock and 1 previous owner. I then ended up selling it to afford uni and sold it to a friend (who wrote it off 3 months later). 2nd car I owned (well, sort of owned) was a red 5 door 1990 G plate 1.6 Mk2 VW Golf. I took it with me to uni for the final semester of my 3rd year. I loved that car. Unfortunately after 8 months of driving it the clutch went and I was unemployed at the time so couldn't afford £300 for a new clutch. It sat on the drive for 6 months before being towed away as scrap due to a waterlogged interior. 3rd car was a red 5 door 1993/4 L plate Ford Escort 1.3l (£550). Drove it off the forecourt and it stalled when putting the clutch down to stop at lights etc (idle speed needed adjusting) Previous owner obviously hadn't looked after it and had run it dry at somepoint. After 9 months, it went to the scrappers. 4th car green 1997 R reg Mondeo 1.8lx (£800). Great car and I loved driving it. Good for long drives. Had to take it off the road for just over a year due to becoming unemplyed again and despite having a bad winter that year, no real issues with firing it up and getting it MOT'd. Started to develop issues with the instument binnacle (loss of dials) after a while and needed a new clutch (100k) so part exed it later for my next car. 5th car maroon 1996 P plate Modeo 2.0 auto (£350 with £200 for mine) bought from a trade guy running out of his own home garage. Nice smooth runner and had no issues for about 3 months until the same issue as the previous Mondeo started showing up (instrument binnacle). Sold to scrappers for £150. It took me around 3 years to then get back on the road and I bought my next car. 6th car silver 2002 02 plate 1.6 Vauxhall Astra Club (£750). Was a great car to drive and had oomph when it wanted to. Problems developed and I ended up spending 3x what the car cost me in repairs (£2100) in just over a year of ownership. Final nail in the coffin for the car was when the AC stopped working and the parts would have cost £400. Part exchanged it for my next car at a small, backstreet garage. 7th car silver 2003 03 plate 1.8 Vauxhall Vectra (£750 after £150 px for the Astra). This car was 13 years old when I bought it and amazingly it only had 37k on the clock (all proved genuine). Nice and comfortable to drive and had cruise control/speed limiter. Ended up taking it off the road for a year due to issues with DWP and disability benefit. Unfortunately during the time it was off the road, it started going mouldy inside despite being regularly aired out. It was later discovered that the rear seat base was soaking wet and the battery was knackered so, despite the low mileage for a 15 year old car, it was sent to the scrap yard at the end of May. 8th car deep impact blue 17 plate Mk7.5 Ford Fiesta ST-Line (140). Having only owned this car for 3 months and done less than 1k with it, I have to say it's actually a lovely car to drive. It's great fun whipping it round the B-roads of Yorkshire, handles well (much better than all my other cars except the Clio and Golf) and isn't as thirsty as some of my previous cars have been, even when the foot is planted (av mpg is about 40). Jonro2009
Quick recap over the last 20yrs... first Car was an Orion on an ‘F’ plate - bought from an auction swapped that for a 1.2 Astra on an ‘F’ plate, done up to look like a GTE. Bought this at an auction too citreon Saxo 1.1 - rear brakes rubbing, heated and expanded causing them to jam on doing 70 on a DC corsa 1.0 ‘club’ (I think) which did 75k in 12 months!! Mk4 golf 1.4 - heavily modified astra 1.6 six also heavily modified Audi TT roadster 3.2 - far too expensive to buy and run but what the hell lol Vectra 1.8 bought for a steal because it had that god awful beige interior, needed it urgently due to the ex witch taking off with TT. Sold it after 3months for a profit lol clio 178 cup Megane WSR mk3 Focus 2.0 titanium fiat Panda 100hp - needed something easy to get in and out of after breaking my back, it was great fun to drive and surprised a lot of people at the lights. Skoda Fabia MC mk5 Mondeo and my current Mk3.5 Focus 1.5d PS ST Line loved my Megane and was sorry to see that go, it was comfy and fun. I most miss the Mondeo but it was too big and thirsty to justify keeping it.

My that's a long read, need a rest now and start at the others. Cant remember the times of mine but mainly fords and vauxhall like started with ford tried vauxhall went back onto ford and mainly escorts about 4of first to fiesta then vectra and corsa then and now back to ford but never had another make apart from these 2.
dtulip8
Nice and short from me: Parents got me a 65 plate 1.2 Punto as it was only 6k brand new. My Mum drove it for a year until I passed my test and it only had 7k on the clock when I inherited it. Had good toys and returned 47mpg all day long but was so gutless and terrible to drive. I told my Dad and after driving it he agreed and so I got the money to go out and buy: My 2006 Focus Zetec which I love! Just wish it had the same MPG as the Fiat, which my Mum took over and promptly traded it for a 63 reg C-Max lol! (I had to try so hard not to sound spoiled about th Fiat, I was so happy when I got it but I just couldn’t get on with it)

Your Honour
1995 Vauxhall Corsa - just after I passed my test, sold this after getting fed up with it not starting in the winter months. Focus MK1 - Write off after someone decided to crash into the back of me in stationary traffic Peugeot 307 - Head gasket went after 4 years Focus Mk2 - Loved it but I was sold a lemon by a private dealership I think, the dreaded IC issue after a week of owning it, then head gasket went. Focus Mk3 1.6 TDCI - bought this off my father in law at a very very good price after he went down the mobility route lovely car and very well looked after. I'm hoping I have better look with this one than past vehicles I've owned. Although I have promised him i'll will look after it better than my previous cars! 😅 Edited September 16, 2019 by Your Honour spelling
