Interesting. Ford pass features in the app, or in the car?  I have the ford pass app connected to the car so I can see fuel level etc? But it’s not updated in the month I’ve had it?

If the modem features are on in the car. It’s supposed to auto update the tcu itself. Mines updated once in the time I’ve had it.

That just generates the XML log file to upload to Ford servers. Same as the one you can download separately if needed.

Yes modem is on. Will keep an eye out in future but probably use ETIS still. Thanks

What happens if you download the maps, not from Ford uk website, then have a problem with the sync ?

Would that affect the warranty?

Is it better to download maps from Ford website and put them on usb stick or download over the cars WiFi and install

It will probably be quicker updating via WiFi than waiting for Ford. Just keep checking it throughout the day.

Have the map software on USB.

🙋🏼‍♂️

I’m waiting for the website!
Mines a lease car, if I do anything to invalidate the warranty I’m screwed!

I know, I quoted Alex, not you. Alex doesn't have the map software like some of us.

Use WiFi. Will be quicker than waiting for Ford.

Like many, I am very keen to carry out the updates but I have been away all week so unfortunately not been able to.
However like Alex.S I have somewhat lost track of events.

Fortunately I am being offered the updates via the Ford download site but am I correct in assuming the following.

The 3.4 sync update if offered via the Ford download site is the same version as offered via OTA WiFi updates. Or is there a newer build number being offered via the WiFi updates ?

The Map F9 update if offered via the Ford download site is the same version as offered via OTA WiFi updates ? But if after being offered and installing the 3.4 sync update you are not offered the Map F9 update you are likely to get it quicker via OTA WiFi updates.

Basically, are we missing anything by updating to 3.4 and F9 via the Ford update site and installing via usb. Or is it better to update via WiFi because they are newer versions?

As far as I'm aware, they are all the same, just some (most?) Aren't being offered the F9 maps on the Ford website after installing SYNC 3.4.

Hmmm...interesting. So my maps updated over WiFi..and the car is saying up to date, but I’m now being offered an 8.2Gb map update from the ford website....

Can I ask, is the 3.4 update and maps being offered to mk3 facelift cars with sync 3 or is it only those with mk4 focuses?  I know there is the downloader to update any version of sync 3 but I would prefer to go the official route. I am due to pick up my 2018 mk3 on Friday and I have asked for all updates to be installed prior to pick up.

It’s the 4U5T files in the zip file only. Just downloaded it for a peek. 4 of them BAE, BBE, BCE, BDE and one other file ending AC.

I guess I’ll have to do these over USB. Half WiFi half USB lol

Those are the navigation voice files and the AC file is the interrogator to generate the update confirmation xml to upload to Ford.
