I can’t update using the USB because of the error and can’t reformat either. 
 

is it worth me trying a total map upgrade using AlexP package? Would that work. Mine clearly has run out of disk space..

Have you tried a master reset?

Just do the downgrade, then try the update again.

Not sure I can downgrade as the cyanlabs is not compatible with MY20.

All this was done over WIFI and using the scan to update function in the car.

@Daz-UK Pretty sure the answer to this will be no... but I don’t suppose the car downloads if within range of the router overnight?

no chance I’m gonna spend 13 hours with my car sat on the driving turning it off and on ☹️

Use USB method. Takes about two hours 😀

I would but like most people the update doesn’t show for me on the Ford website ☹️ I think I’ve only ever used sync maps once though as CarPlay is much better, I just like to have things up to date 😂

I used the link provided by alexp999 as I had given up waiting for Ford.

Good write up. May I ask a favour of you?  Would you re check the ford download site and see if you are offered a map update of 8.2 Gb?

I just put a mobile sim in a device in car with unlimited data and just left it,  but as the car when switched of only does it for 30 mins and then shuts down,  I had to keep going back to the car to set it going again, which is how I was able to time it near enough.

 

also when driving as it’s always connected to Wi-fi it was still downloading too

the car is saying up to date and I’ve checked 4 times now.  So I will see if it presents me with anything.

Hi Andy.

ive always used the USB method on all my ford’s and my friends fords

I got offered the sync update via usb and then zilch after. Same with my friend. 
all I get now is one thing saying sync is up to date.

Does the download pause when the car is off and resume when back on and connected to wifi, or does it restart each time?

I have 100gb data on my sim so if the above is right I could just set my phone up as a hotspot to the car for while I’m driving around, is that right?

Yeah I tried that using phone as hotspot it does work but it’s quicker to use usb stick and download of ford site if you can I did map update F9 this morning

Yes that’s what I did. Set the phone as a perm hotspot for the car. 
Say when you switch the car off, it still continues for about 30 mins in background when doors are locked, then pauses before closing down.

soon as you get in, start car and it connects to Wi-fi it restarts in about 30 seconds

same with the insulation process. Will pause and continue After.

Once a update is complete, it tells you at the top with a symbol.  Click on it and then after I went back in and rescanned for the next update,  but most of the time the car started to download straight after.

 

just remember some updates will need a reboot of sync. So turn of engine, lock car wait 1 min and unlock car and restart engine.

It’s the 4 4U5T files. BAE, BBE,BCE,BDE. Car is like yours saying all up to date..

I downloaded and updated to 3.4 today using the ford website to a usb and all seemed to go well.

Having checked again i have now been offered the Maps updated and i have just downloaded a 21GB file and now preparing a large usb drive to run the update tomorrow.

Thing is the instructions claim i should have the following files on the drive: A folder titled “SyncMyRide” •One file “autoinstall.lst” •One file “DONTINDX.MSA”

However after checking the 21GB file when unzipped (zero errors) it only shows: A folder titled “SyncMyRide” •One file “autoinstall.lst”

Can anyone put my mind at rest that this will work?

PS I too would be keen to know how to get the DAB logo's back as all mine seem to have vanished

Go back several pages where alexp points out that the indexing file is not always included now. The Ford notes are several years old.
