Things I do like

My dad used to have bonfires all the time.

Now you so much as buy a Tiki torch and they're calling the Fire Service.

Makes you want to buy a house in the middle of nowhere.

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

My grandad used to have a daily bonfire, which he always lit at 6pm, regardless of what the weather was doing, or what time of year it was.

It use to amuse the family, as quite what he was burning

He always seemed to have amassed enough stuff, by the time 6pm came round - most of it, we think he acquired elsewhere. There's only so much you can find in your own house and garden!

A next door neighbour used to have a nearly constant bonfire with grass clipping tipped on to make it smolder for days , and stink.

My dad used to get hose pipe when neighbour was out and dampen it down. Lol

Buzz killer ;)

I used to store a lot of sensitive personal/financial information on my harddisk/cloud-storage, but today I finally got around to encrypting all of it. For paper stuff, I just use the shredder at work, since I am too tight to buy one myself lol.

I have never owned a shredder and never will. Had one at work which gave up the ghost fairly quickly, and the replacement barely worked from day one. Fire is much easier and quicker B)

One of the advantages of a farm!!! lol, stick anything in the slurry pit/muck heap and it either melts in the heat or gets shredded and spread when we've got nothing to do + if anyone snoops around the bull lets us know

Technically, I'm doing the same - I bought the shredder from the business account: and also using for personal stuff :)

I modded mine by changing the shredding teeth, improving the bearings and putting in a more torquey motor - it will now shred cloth, laminate flooring and leather, as well as paper and card, if I wanted to

Bulls make great guard dogs, along with geese :)

Did you put low-profile castors on it too?

No, it actually got bigger twin wheel castors, used to have single 40mm now it has double 50mm.

The new motor and shredder teeth weigh about 4 kilos more.

I have to say I've never in my life heard of anybody upgrading a shredder, but considering I collect and repair vintage vacuum cleaners I probably shouldn't judge

I have a world first then - shredder modding :)

I do like this blueberry and blackberry ice-cream that I made, to reduce the mouth burns effect, from the piece of stir fried carrot :)

One of the benefits of having an open fire is that all my financial documents go in the fire and literally turn to ash and smoke. Anyone who can decipher those deserves a medal.

Santa can :O

Santa can :o

Never thought of that... Slightly worried now!!

The original design purpose of my upgraded shredder teeth was to shred reinforced rubber sheets and belts.

Of the many things I add to my compost bin, periodically, when they're too damaged to repair, I have an old cotton sock, cotton underwear or perhaps a linen tea towel and of course cotton bedlinen. To increase decomposing, it's better to cut it up into small 25mm x 25mm pieces, or smaller :)

Whilst a sock can be processed quite quickly with upholstery shears. You can spend a whole afternoon with a double sheet! :o

After spending time with my then office shredder, tentatively feeding A4 pieces of thin cotton cloth through, which it did shred slowly. Then noticing it couldn't cope with a sock, nor with any kind of towelling. I decided to upgrade it's teeth, to something more industrial.

Watching some impressive you tube videos of monster shredders and not needing to add complete cars or fridges to the compost bin, I went for something less powerful, that was quite happy (if shredders can be) to deal with all my occasional spare cloth and fabrics. Obviously I needed a much more torquey motor to drive my bigger teeth.

The standard office shredder doesn't have much in the way of bearings for it's small teeth - so these to were upgraded.

I can now shred a cotton double sheet, once it's folded into a long flat sausage to fit the shredder mouth/slot in around 75 seconds :)

I like that I spent 45 minutes last night talking to Jessica Ennis-Hill about dogs and comparing doggy pictures.

She has a cracking choccy lab.

Take a guess where I've been working the last week.... :)

Belfast :)

Mongolia..

S.S.E. Arena :)

How rude..
