I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

We haven't had 'proper' December weather for several years now.

It was 11°C on the garage wall thermometer, when I went out with Brandy, at about 9pm

I assume Devon had that fortnight of sub-zero in 2009: that was the last time we had frost!

Devons had it pretty cold last year in Dec, never remembered any Dec this mild...in the UK at least..

Dorset wasn't cold last year in December; but was cooler than it is this year. I don't think it's gone below 10°C yet: it average 7-8°C last December.

It wasn't that long ago, may be 10 years, when windscreens had to be defrosted every morning from November onwards, through to early March

Everything in the garden, is a good 3-4 months ahead of normal, except for the parsnips who waiting for the first frost (which may never arrive this year, or indeed, at all) :(

My blueberry bushes think it's spring and are now flowering profusely.

Hahaha poor plants, it's all a bit crazy for them! It's dipped below 10 here for about a week, I know this because our kitchen temperature reached about 6 or 7 degrees.... But that hasn't lasted. Last year was cold around Christmas where we were (Somerset Dorset border) and it was cold when we left our home too. But it's not been continually frosty for a while now...

I remember waking up to quite a few cold mornings in November, I was waiting at the bus stop to go to work, and it was 2C!

But yes, this December has been very mild (apart from the constant rain/wind etc.). Long may it continue! :)

Rather have cold and snow and ice personally.....

If it isn't Summer then do it properly...

I think laumk7 and GMX should lay on a feast for all the Supporters.

Hire the Cross Hands Hotel & we'll munch them there . . :)

Berkshire is further north.

Yes, you can do far more outside jobs in cold, snow and ice: than in rain and wind.

The lack of frostiness, means all the bugs, gastropods and parasites aren't being wiped out regularly, at the moment. Which in turn means more of them the following year! :( The slugs population is particularly happy with wet and warm

The useful ones, who need to hibernate, are waking up too soon and then upsetting their breeding cycle. Wasps and bumble bees numbers haven't recovered yet from 2011. Spiders are a bit thin on the ground too.

I think laumk7 and GMX should lay on a feast for all the Supporters.

The roast potatoes will be in abundance, I've gone over my personal best yield again, and there's still three plots to dig up

Best roasties I've ever had the pleasure of munching were served in a Hotel / restaurant in Perranporth, Cornwall - they were called Marmarette or something like that & were doctored with Marmite & to die for :)

My two maincrops are Lady Balfour and Sante, two blight restistant varieties known for their superb flavour and yield. :) Although, the Lady Balfours, I think, are the best of the two.

Still got a couple of buckets of the salad potatoes Charlotte :)

For reference purposes it's 13°C on the garage wall @ 2:20pm

My thoughts exactly.

It's still 13°C on the garage wall and the dryness has given way to heavy rain.

With a sense of poor timing, Brandy and Bunty both went outside to do their respective dog and cat business, seconds before the deluge. Both returned with haste in their paws - both a moderately sodden

We need a real good freeze in Shropshire, it's playing havoc with the cell counts on the cows and the cows aren't feeling it + there is still fly's about... IN DECEMBER!!!! Never mind, these 'warmer' temperatures are a bit easier to handle at 3am in the morning :-).

It remains 13°C, the rain has stopped :) but the gale is back  The forecast is for even more rain, for the next 48 hours :o

Brandy is going have a blustery evening stroll.

I would like to see a hard frost for a month, to bring about the demise of that Thai fly, who defoliates all the berberis and mahonias, every year from Jun-Oct. It inadvertently came back with random person in 2004, and is slowly breeding it's way up the country :( It resembles a skinny housefly or an morbidly obese fruit fly.

A fly is a fly to me when I squash them haha cat like reflexes from me. No more Gail platts pleaseee  . But I'll happily have some Sarah's ha

Some fly's children are more destructive than others

The Thai fly larvae can strip a 2M Berberis in around two days, they're rather camouflaged against the stems. They play dead and fall off, when you try to pick them off, and you tend get impaled on the bushes thorns as you're attempting it. They will succumb to a horticultural soap and fish oil mix but you have spray them just after they've hatched! In Thailand they have native birds that eat them: ours don't seem to like to

I do like my eldest is over today and tomorrow:d

I do like finding Tesco wasn't as busy as I was expecting this afternoon :)

As we approached the junction, there was a queue stretching back on to A349, whilst some of it was going into Tesco, the vast majority of it was for their petrol station. The car park was fairly full, but not queuing for the next person to leave full, each row had a few empty places :) For Brandy's happiness, I usually park under a tree, there are 10 trees, where this possible. However, all the tree places were occupied, even the one on the far side by recycling bins, which was occupied by a Range Rover. We had to park opposite, Brandy had her pre-shop pee under the tree, by the Range Rover.

I did also like finding the store itself wasn't any busier than it would be on a Sunday morning :)

Everything on my list, hadn't sold out, although most of it, were regular items: rather xmas specials. It was pleasant surprise to find the beef joint at half price :) It appears that Tesco is doing all the pork, lamb and beef joints at half price :) However, this didn't apply to the offal - the cow hearts and lamb's liver Brandy is having tomorrow were normal price

For temperature reference, it's 15°C here at the moment!!!

I like a Bacardi and Coca Cola whilst watching some TV before doing some Christmas eve baking... Slightly under the influence of alcohol of course, which can either make cakes more tasty or burnt!! Lets hope it is the former.

Whereas, shortly, I'm making a further spotted Richard pudding under the influence of Pussers Gunpowder Proof  And my Mum is giving laptime to Bunty under the influence of Harvey's Bristol Cream.

I would love to knock back a few whiskeys right now...
