I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Hard to beat the old 'Lada' jokes. Like, how do you keep you hands warm, turn on the rear screen demister when you're pushing 😂

  • 3 weeks later...

Ranger 2022, 'ONE TOUCH' windows on all 4 doors, and AUTO FOLD mirrors on lock/unlock.

I ordered a kit from AliExpess about 2 weeks ago (27th April) that claimed it would make all 4 windows one touch open and close, and make the DOOR mirrors auto fold when locking/unlocking. So I took the gamble and bought the kit for £54.72 including shipping.

It arrived two days ago and today I spent a little over two hours fitting it.

Guess what ? 🤔

It works, and does exactly what it claimed. Everything just plugged together and worked first time 🎉🎉

Clever people those Chinese 😉 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001942560415.html

Or is it just Ford fitted most of the parts needed to make it work, but the customer never order/paid for it, so left the last bit off that makes it work, and AliExpress have just sold the last piece of the puzzle?

Well that is true, Ford did fit the electric windows, and even the electric power fold mirrors 🤣

I've not come across a Pre-2023 Ranger with one touch windows on all 4 doors. I've been looking to find a switch pack for the drivers door with all 4 of the switches marked "Auto" and so far I've not found one.

Likewise I've yet to find a Pre-2023 Ranger with auto power fold mirrors. Now I'm not saying such things don't exist only that so far my investigations have drawn a blank. Perhaps in the North American market it was offered as an option?

I love this 😀

I remember on first joining this forum and 1st hearing about stop/start, I commented on that common sense would tell you this function would wear out your car engine and it isn't normal to keep switching an engine on/off all the time. I got lambasted saying it would have no effect at all., Though, that huge dollop of common sense I have told me different.

In the same way as a kid when you switched a room light on/off loads of times in succession and a parent would tell you off as you'll blow the bulb &/or switch!

I hate the ethos of stop/start - especially when car makers take control of it out of your hands. It should be mandatory that you can disable it permanently on your own car!

My recently acquired Ford Ranger appears not to have Stop/Start, it most certainly does not have a switch to disable it. At first I was concerned that the lack of switch to disable S/S would mean that it would always be active, but thankfully it seems it just doesn't have it 🎉

Just had a glance at the handbook which says "if equipped" so maybe not. It does suggest that if it is "equipped" it would have the usual button to turn it off.

Wonder what the criteria are for equipped or not?

Money... 😂

Low CO2 tax band possibly?

That's what it was initially used for in the early 2010's.

Back home on Thursday. Just having a mini break

😊

Looking to dispose of an old non-working appliance. Wouldn't fit in the car to get to the local council waste point, so had a look at the alternatives. Council will collect but with quite a wait, then noticed AO do a collect and recycle service next day, so gave them a try for today.

As promised, a 4 hour time slot was texted before 8am, they collected 1 hour into that, so good service. And slightly cheaper than the council.😀

AO operate the largest appliance recycling plant in the country.  The council collections probably end up there anyway!

My council allows 3 large waste items/year at no additional charge. Though your old fridge/sofa has to sit on your driveway for about 3 weeks ..

I guessed as a big appliance retailer they must have some such, didn't realise it was the biggest though.**

For a brief spell of my working life I was responsible for placing contracts for disposal of trade-in appliances. There were, to say the least, some dodgy characters involved in the business at the time. I recall one guy, who had secured some of our business, had his premises badly damaged in a mysterious fire. One of his competitors was the prime suspect, but nothing could be proved!

Hopefully it's a bit less of a Wild West out there these days!

(**Just had a glance at their recycling webpage - according to that, they're one of the biggest. Looks a lot more legit than what I was posting about above!)

We do. How long that will continue remains to be seen. At the moment I'm guessing it pays for itself selling the compost.

We charged£60 a year for garden waste bin.

Your local tip will probably sell the compost back to you at £10 a bag.

Ours is "only" £49.

Don't know if they still do it now, but our local water company used to sell garden compost. You can guess what that was made from!😀
