I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Not often I can post in here but I am genuinely impressed with a new screenshot tool added to Windows 11 recently.

No use to me I'm afraid, I hardly ever post any photos 🤣

I could post a photo of some paint drying if anyone's interested?

Colour is knotted twine! I wonder what the unknotted twine colour is?

Would be better than watching the new Jaguar advert 🤣

Watching a prog about  1970's Christmases.

So annoying my partner by naming all the cars in the background. That's showing my age recognising these cars. Escort, chevette, allegro ,Austin 18/22 wedge etc .

Did you spot the price of petrol?? Yes, 70p/gallon 🤣 I loved the 70s ..

Yeah, saw that, and that was high for that time due to the oil crisis. Normal price was 34p

and for our younger viewers, that is 7.5p/liter 🤣

But back then wages were less in monetary terms. I cant go back to 1970,s as I was still at school but in The 80's I could buy 1.7gallons for every hour I worked.

Now it's 2.7 gallons. Same job, same level as such, just alot older😂. Been a while since I bought petrol though. What's the price now?

I do like a nice simple inexpensive lunch menu...IMG_20241202_130427_5.thumb.jpg.cf0754cc66c5d2890453692c5b9a0fa1.jpg

Likewise. Do tell, what were the desserts? "School puddings" with lots of custard I hope!😀

Custard was involved, and as a bonus, unknowingly, Mondays saw pensioners get a 10% discount 😁

Excellent!

For many years, we used to have a break at a small hotel in the Lake District a couple of times a year, and became very friendly with the owners.

The lady was also head chef and became so accustomed to our preferences, that, when we made a repeat booking, she simply wrote one word in the reservations diary - "custard"!😀

I've never had spotted star, with or without custard. Must be a Worcestershire thing 🤣

I think he meant Richard ?

Not having to put the Heating on in my house today for the first time in about 6 weeks, you guys that live in warmer parts of the country don't realise how lucky you are.

It's been a balmy 12 degrees here but very windy.

9c here in NI, I had the Heating on 😂

Your heat must be getting blown over here. Can you set your one for about 6 tomorrow morning so that by the time I get up it will have blown over here again and I won't have to use my one again🤣

Storage heater fails again...  It's been too cold in my bathroom for weeks.  One mild night above 10c and I was sweating in there this morning!  Have turned it down but it'll take a couple of days to drop now, by which point it'll probably be cold outside again.

News to me taken advantage of my councils homehelp scheme. £80.00 a month for 3 months towards gas and electric and a £40.00 payment to water. The 40 goes direct to the watter company the £240 is paid direct into my bank. Similar maybe available in your area's.

Gotta love free money !

I do like the Noco GB40.  Taken 2 weeks to get round to jump starting after finding my own 12v battery flat, yet it still started fine, albeit on the second attempt.

Must be at least 9 months since I charged the jump pack and it had lost just one of 4 bars in that time.

One thing I am slightly concerned about now is the Adblue.  Does anyone know if that gets squirted at idle without driving anywhere?  Just don't want an Adblue warning to come up if/when I send it for MOT.

I do like today's announcement of a Spanish ship builder rescuing our local Harland & Wolf ship builders. They have been on the verge of bankruptcy for years now. Infamously known for building The Titanic, but as they say in Belfast, she was fine when she left here  😂 Not only saving many good jobs, but saving an iconic company known worldwide.

I wish them well, and a profitable future. I grew up on the banks of the river Tyne in the North East of England. The shipyards built many famous ships like the Esso Northumbria one of the first super tankers. Sadly the yards and the docks are long gone and it's left a hole in the old home town that has never been filled.

Good luck to Harland and Wolf. I hope the new owners keep the name and build on it's past success.

Lots of coverage of this on the web:

It made me smile as I get regular reports of her occasional appearances at RL matches, from my mate who is a lifelong Castleford Tigers supporter.

Apparently she walks about pointing in US style as if she recognises someone, but if someone actually tries to approach her, quickly crosses to the other side of the road.

Surprised therefore she pulled this stunt - perhaps someone gave her bad advice!
