Things I do like

I do like Bosch S4 batteries!  Fitted in 2009 and still going strong 7 years later, when most budget batteries would have been replaced twice.

Lucky you've got an older one, from about 2012 on they seem to be pretty poor!  I know several newish S5s that failed within a year or two.  But bought one myself in 2011 that was swapped between loads of 306s and still fine now lol.

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

You could be right there.  I bought one for our old Rover 216 back in 2012 and it was good, so probably one of the last good ones.

I'd still go for another S4 in future though, as even a poor quality Bosch is better than a cheap battery.  I may be buying one sooner rather than later, as I suspect the Hyundai's battery has gone flat (looking in the window the clock is no longer illuminated) and it has only been sitting a couple of weeks.  Will see when I get around to starting it when we next need it (no point firing it up when it won't be driven as that's even worse for the battery than leaving it flat).

If you're leaving it a couple of weeks between drives, any battery will suffer tbh!

I do like that I've just taken ownership of another GTi6!!

Well not really, or at least a healthy battery shouldn't.  It isn't always left weeks between drives, just this month for reasons outwith my control.  Once it is running again it'll be driven 2-3 times a week to keep things going.

That's quite a Peugeot collection you have going on there!

I do like deciding on a career change(sort of).  I'm a qualified mechanic but because I moved in with the other half I + no experience I ended up in farming.  Now I've decided I Want out & want to go back into cars.  Fed up of the hours & naff pay(it's only good pay because I do 80-100 hours a week).  I will continue this comment on a new thread

Go for it Matt, life is too short to stay in a job that you don't enjoy when there are other possibilities out there!

Cheers, I want to ring up a college near me today & see what they say.

Are any of them standard these days!?

Lowered, aftermarket stereo and stainless exhaust but otherwise standard.  Pics will be up eventually, it's looking a bit sorry for itself atm, bought as a project.

I like a simple and unhealthy tea after another day doing that workin' thang!

I do like the irony of the 'low washer fluid' warning popping up in the middle of a monsoon this afternoon...

As I say, it is a project, plenty to get on with!  Working on mates GTi6 and Rallye today though lol.

Sounds good, will you be returning it to standard? They'll be going up in value in the next few years...

I'd like a standard headunit, can't stand aftermarket rubbish lol!  But the lowering and the exhaust will be staying, possibly add a K&N replacement air fiter (not heatsoaked induction kit) as my mate will be getting rid of his when we fit his individual throttle bodies. Otherwise it's just mainly tidying up that needs to be done, have got quite a few of the parts now so hopefully the weather is alright tomorrow and I'll crack on.

@TomsFocus like the look of that, the engine could do with a tidy up though.  Otherwise looks in good nick

It has actually been modified quite tastefully, certainly not one of the "boy racer" jobs that are often the case on those old Pugs.  I agree with originality though, anything that wasn't there when it came out of the factory is pretty much a no-no for me (except for things that don't look out of place and do benefit the car positively).  For example, the silver JVC CD-radio that is in my 405 does not look right in a 1990s black interior.

I do like knowing that a matter which has been bothering me for the past few weeks should be resolved by the end of this week.  Hopefully!

I also like having Tuesday and Wednesday off next week, then getting paid the following Wednesday and on that day buying the car insurance so I can start driving.

I like a few mods, but subtle ones, not max power style lol.  The aftermarket stereo may have been there since the 90s, back then people were chucking them in nearly new cars unfortunately, nothing says 'steal me' like an easily removable shiny stereo.

On the subject of stealing things, I realised there are 2 locking wheel bolts this morning, but no key!  Took me 2 minutes with a 12pt 18mm socket to get them off, worlds most secure lockers there.

No, the owner I bought it from had fitted it recently, so before that it would have had the original Peugeot radio-cassette I imagine.  Don't worry though, as soon as one comes up on eBay I'll be buying it and returning the stereo-system to stock!  Thank God nobody messed with the speakers, as that's something I would find harder to restore.

As for locking wheel nuts, thankfully the 405 doesn't have any of them (who would want to steal Harriers, lets face it!).  The Hyundai does though and I'm dreading having to remove those, although the key is in the boot so it shouldn't be too difficult.

I do like finding out that I could insure myself to drive the Hyundai for exactly the same price as the 405 (30 days at £54.75).  As it is a 30 day policy, theoretically I could (in the months leading up to my test) alternate between both cars thereby getting the best mixed experience by driving the instructor's petrol A3 during formal lessons, and diesel 405 and the 4X4 for private practice.  Should mean that once I've passed my test I could confidently drive a small modern car, medium sized old diesel and a big 4X4, whereas most learners are only used to a small modern vehicle.

Ridiculous what's cheaper/same price for insurance nowadays lol.  I'm going to two poo on you now, passed my test within the week I Was driving 32 tonne tractor outfits lol.  Personally I'd do more in the 405 until you pass as it's a similar height/size etc to the A3(assuming you do your test in the instructors car, I didn't).

32 tonne tractor! within a week of passing my test, i trashed my first car ( my mums vw polo)in an orchard. result. lol

It was with a full tanker on lol.  1st day I took a gate post into a field out and a couple of weeks later I did 3k worth of damage to my old schools wall lol.  I was happy with the wall, I felt it was a decent bit of revenge
