After getting stuck in the mud t'other day, I've been looking at Land Rovers...

I really, really want one...

But they're so expensive!!

To buy one for the same price that I paid for my Focus in 2012, I'm looking at a car around 10 years old...

To get one the same age as my Focus, I'm looking at nearly £20k for a Disco!

I WANT ONE!!!

I was quite surprised how much the Series IIA is now changing hands for, for one that is close to 50 years old!  Mind you they do go on and on, and on.....

Mine was an ex-coastguard LWB on a "D" plate (1964), bit thirsty on the fuel though, worse than the BMW 740 by quite a long way. Until I put a diesel engine in it and got a reasonable 20-25mpg

What are auction prices like for them now?  What about an ex-MOD or Coastguard  one?

I happen to know the MOD has quite a lot of surplus ones. There's a field of them (30) apparently, somewhere in Hampshire, on a MOD compound, just sitting there!  Brand new, yet not suitable for the supplied purpose contract, to the British Army.  A mate of a mate, who has a 4x4 green-laning off-roading business was trying to ascertain if the MOD wants to sell them on, preferably (some of them) to him.  I'm not sure how far he got with that.

Second thing is poor signal phone calls, even if it's not me, it drives me bat **** crazy hearing people say "hello? hello? hello? Helloooooooo?" it makes me want to smash their phone to pieces! - I suspect I have an anger issue in that department...

There are quite few spots round here, admittedly in the more rural parts, were there is no signal at all!

Oddest of all, is Merley (village on the other side of A349, about ½ mile North away) half the village, 5 bars on the signal: other half nothing!  Even texts fail to transmit there!  Parts of the A350 are dead too, between the pet cemetary and Sturminster Marshall roundabout (A31 junction), it's very hit and miss

In 2016 we should really have enough phone masts by now lol...  Other peoples phone calls annoy me anyway though, why do they have to speak so loudly and always about personal topics I really don't want to hear about at 9am in the supermarket... :s

The bournemouth-poole-christchurch conurbation seems to be adequately covered: whereas the rest of county, it's lacking in places in Dorset:huh:

Many of them have ridiculous starting prices on ebay - even Mk2 Disco's going for 6, 7 grand. Early Mk3's are starting at about £6500.

Ex-MOD are also silly prices at the moment...However, I do have a friend who has contacts lol

Not happy with my new wind deflectors. They look so smart! They're just not playing ball!

They dont sit right in the channel. My drivers side deflector is slipping. There was no instructions that came with them. The diagrams were abismal.

The metal clips provided once pushed into the channel scratch the deflector.

Second to that. Everytime I get biting point/ coming out of first gear it sounds like there is a clicking coming from my fuse box.

I'm really wanting to add things to my car. But the fact that the most simplistic things/things from the factory are getting on my nerves. I'm not emotionally in a position for other things to pee me off.

It's not so much lack of phone signal that irritates me, it's actually the conversation itself that; for me at least, is like a nail on a chalk board/red rag to a bull... It's that endless helloooooooo? **** that literally makes me rage... I cannot stand it...

Are these Heko's or Climair ? If Heko's - are they genuine ? All my current / previous 5 sets of Genuine Heko's came with instructions

:s

My don't like for the morning is one law for us and another for them...  I live close to a police station and most are fine...but this morning, fully signed police car pulled out on me on the dually because he couldn't be bothered to wait behind a truck while I passed, didn't make any attempt to speed up forcing me to brake, stayed in the right hand lane at 60 (70mph road) once the left had become clear, then very slowly accelerated to more than 80 after about a mile...  No blues on, didn't appear to be following anyone, cannot work it out myself, if it'd been the other way round I can guess the end result lol.

Not setting a good example there.

Please don't tar us all with the same brush :)

Team heko's mate. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390747621025?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I was recommended these by a guy on here.

They came with the worst diagrams I've ever seen.

On the metal clip packet there was a barely visible diagram of how to open the packet and the metal clips just had an arrow pointing up... That was it.

I wonder if they're not genuine Hekos:sad:

All the approved Heko suppliers mention that they are genuine in the listing title The part numbers on your don't seem match the actual part numbers the genuine Heko have.

The listing you gave, has a link for "downloadable fitting instructions" but it doesn't link anywhere, other than this page with sponsored links http://dp.g.doubleclick.net/apps/domainpark/domainpark.cgi?client=ca-dp-oversee32_3ph_xml&domain_name=on-depot.co.uk&channel=012259%2Ctest112%2Ctest57&drid=as-drid-2892069766026187&output=html

Mine came with poor instructions but I knew what to do from my last car, however  I did snap my own in half lol.  I don't like a 2 inch slice down my longest finger.

Well a guy in here recommended them to me, he's used them before for his old fiesta, they honestly look, feel legit etc... Bought my brother some deflectors from the same guys for his st-3 they're fine on his though...

If anyone can find any genuine heko's it would be much appreciated!

Have you contacted the seller about your problem with them?

There is course the possibility, you just got a bad batch, and normally they're good copies.

I bought mine from here

Not at all, as I say I live near the station and see several a day - which is odd moving from the sticks where I saw about one a month lol, was worried I was gonna get pulled over every day for creeping to 31mph or having a shiny car with a few mods...but no issues at all, most are fine and I do my best to keep out of their way with blues/sirens on.  But as with all walks of life, there are a minority that take the pea!

Accidentally ripping a wire straight out of a plug, (for what I think was a temperature sensor) leaving the plug still in the socket

At least it wasn't a live mains wire:huh:

We found it at the front of the engine bay whilst doing something else near it, it was a big dammit moment, then trying to figure out what it was and where it had come from

I don't like finding a tooth collapsing, or rather a filling coming out, as I bit into a slice of bread:ohmy:

Have to phone the dentist tomorrow and see if he can refill it

I don't like wakening up at 05:48 under a cloud of depression.  It has been a few weeks since that has happened, and I had been dreading the next occurrence.  Fortunately I managed to drag myself out of bed and normally if I can do that within 10 minutes of waking up I can fight through it.  Lets hope.

That does annoy me too.  If steering towards the kerb, you only need to do so enough to chock the wheel in the event of handbrake failure.  The problem is, very few people can park properly so have to crank the wheel to full lock to get the right angle and just don't bother to straighten it after.

I suppose I didn't consider hand brake failure, probably because I always leave anything I drive in gear when I Park up... I just drove down a small city road the other day an cars parked on both side, every 3rd one had its wheels sticking out, then there was one car that was about a foot away from the kerb... Made me wonder whether it was a street of drink drivers or something...

Don't like waking up on the wrong side of the bed.  Work has cheesed me off and everything else is and probably will cheese me off.  Worst thing is we are milk recording this afternoon, which means looking around at the wrong times lol and cows not coming in the parlour

If you're getting cheesed off working with milk, maybe you should try cooling off with a nice ice cream...

Maybe your work place needs a bit of (milk)shaking up... To get people to work nicely with each udder...

One word will sum it up that I HATE ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,CANCER.............

I don't like, what I suspect will turn out to be complete alternator failure, and a dead battery as result.  Leaving in the middle of a junction, with no power and no means of restarting it.

Fortunately, it was at the bottom of the road, at the T Junction, and a BMW driver stopped to help me push the Focus the 200 metres, to the kerb, outside my house:yes:  He said he always stops for broken down vehicles, to see if he can lend a hand:smile:

My drive is too steep for two people to push a Focus up it, so it'll have stay where it is, unless I can find a bigger group of pushers.

Oh, and I can't read the codes at the moment because my diagnostic laptop needs recharging:ohmy:

It hasn't been a good late afternoon, and I never got to do the banking and mailing

That isn't good!  This is the most common season for alternators to fail if they were already worn out - given that you are using your headlights 99% of the time, along with the heater and wipers.

Didn't you have a battery issue a few weeks ago and mentioned buying a Bosch S4?  Could it now be that the weak/dead battery was caused by the alt rather than just a poor battery?

Or, of course, the poor battery a few weeks ago could have precipitated the alternator's death.
